Sejarah

Devon didirikan pada tahun 1971 oleh John Nichols (1914-2008) dan putranya, J. Larry Nichols.^[4] Pada tahun 1988, perusahaan tersebut menjadi perusahaan publik melalui penawaran umum perdana.^[4]

Pada bulan Oktober 2012, perusahaan tersebut menyelesaikan pembangunan kantor pusatnya saat ini, Devon Energy Center setinggi 50 lantai di Kota Oklahoma dan menutup kantor lama Allen Center di Pusat Kota Houston.^[5]

Pada bulan Februari 2016, Devon mengumumkan rencana untuk memberhentikan 1.000 karyawan, termasuk 700 karyawan di Kota Oklahoma, dan memotong pembagian laba perusahaan kepada pemegang saham sebagai bagian dari upaya pemangkasan biaya karena rendahnya harga produk.^[6]^[7]
