Alex Lawther (lahir 4 Mei 1995)^[1] adalah seorang aktor asal Inggris. Dia dikenal karena perannya sebagai Alan Turing muda dalam film The Imitation Game (2014), yang membuatnya mendapatkan penghargaan di London Film Critics' Circle untuk kategori Young British Performer of the Year. Dia juga mendapat pujian sebagai James di serial Netflix, The End of the F***ing World dan sebagai Kenny dalam episode "Shut Up and Dance" dalam serial ilmiah fiksi Black Mirror.

Kehidupan Awal

Alex Lawther lahir di Petersfield, Hampshire.^[2] Bungsu dari tiga bersaudara, ia mengatakan bahwa keinginannya untuk menjadi aktor berasal dari ketika ia membuat permainan sendiri untuk menghibur dirinya saat kecil.^[3] Kedua orang tuanya bekerja di bidang hukum,^[3] sementara kakak laki-lakinya, Cameron Lawther, adalah seorang produser film dan kakak perempuannya Ellie Lawther bekerja dalam kebijakan publik.^[4] Pada tahun 2010, ia dan kakak laki-lakinya bekerja sama dalam The Fear.

Pada tahun 2009, Lawther menulis dan menyusun drama sebagai bagian dari keterlibatan klub drama di Churcher's College di Petersfield.^[5]^[6] Lawther berperan sebagai Ratty di The Wind in the Willows di sekolah.^[7] Lawther tidak belajar drama di level GCSE atau A.^[4] Ia berlatih dengan National Youth Theatre.

Karier

Debut profesional Lawther datang pada usia 16 tahun, ketika ia tampil sebagai John Blakemore dalam South Downs arahan David Hare di Chichester Festival Theatre.^[3] Ia membuat debut film bioskop sebagai Alan Turing muda di film pemenang Academy Award, The Imitation Game (2014).^[3]^[8]^[9]^[10] Peran itu memenangkannya Penghargaan London Film Critics' Circle untuk "Pemain Muda Inggris Tahun Ini" pada tahun 2015.^[11] Pada tahun 2015, ia muncul sebagai peran pendukung dalam film drama X+Y.
