ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui, (1) latar belakang memilih pekerjaan sebagai pedagang sate dalam mempertahankan identitas etnik Madura di Kampung Madura Seririt, Buleleng Bali, (2) pola pendidikan di lingkungan keluarga dalam mempertahankan identitas etnik sebagai pedagang sate. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yaitu: (1) penentuan lokasi penelitian; (2) teknik penentuan informan; (3) teknik pengumpulan data (observasi, wawancara, studi dokumen dan studi pustaka); (4) validasi data; (5) teknik analisis data; dan (6) teknik penulisan hasil penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa latar belakang pemertahanan identitas sebagai pedagang sate dalam mempertahankan identitas etnik Madura di Kampung Madura Seririt, Buleleng Bali dipengaruhi oleh empat faktor yaitu faktor tradisi, faktor modal yang terjangkau, faktor sosial dan faktor kemudahan medapat tenaga kerja yang ada di wilayah tersebut. Pola pendidikan yang diterapkan oleh keluarga dalam mempertahankan identitas etnik sebagai pedagang sate Madura adalah orang tua menjadi agen dalam pendidikan di lingkungan keluarga dan anak menjadi peserta didik yang akan menerima pewarisan dalam hal pemertahanan identitas sebagai pedagang sate. Selain itu pengenalan terhadap alat-alat yang digunakan untuk kegiatan berdagang sate serta jenis-jenis bumbu yang digunakan untuk pembuatan sate Madura semuanya diterapkan dengan menggunakan metode pembiasaan yang sudah ada di dalam keluarga seperti kegiatan berkandang, kegiatan meracik bumbu, kegiatan menusuk daging kambing dan kegiatan berdagang. Penanaman etos kerja dalam pola pendidikan yang ada di lingkungan keluarga juga menjadi upaya dalam pemertahanan identitas etnik Madura yang terkenal tekun, ulet, rajin, serta memiliki semangat kerja yang tinggi. Kata Kunci : Kata Kunci: pemertahanan identitas etnik, pendidikan keluarga, etos kerja ABSTRACT This research aims to determine, (1) the background of choosing a job as a satay trader in maintaining identity of Madura ethnic, Madura village, Seririt, Buleleng, Bali, (2) the pattern of education in the family in maintaining ethnic identity as traders satay. This research used a qualitative approach, namely: (1) determining the location of the study; (2) determination techniques informant; (3) data collection techniques (observation, interviews, document studies and literature); (4) data validation; (5) data analysis techniques; and (6) writing techniques and research results. The results showed that the retention background of identity to be a trader of Madura satay, in Madura village, Seririt, Buleleng, Bali is influenced by four factors: cultural factors, affordable capital factors, social factors and easiness factors to get the workforce in the region. The education pattern which is adopted by the family in maintaining ethnic identity as traders Madura satay is the parents roles as agents in education in the family, and children become learners who will receive inheritance of identity retention as satay traders. Besides that, an introduction to the tools which is used for trading satay and the types of spices which is used to manufacture Madura satay is applied by using the habituation method that is already in the family such as farming activities, seasoning mix activities , mutton piercing activities and trading activities. Planting work ethic in the pattern of education in the family environment is also an efforts to maintain Madura ethnic identity which are diligent, tenacious, diligent, and have a high morale. keyword : Keywords: retention of ethnic identity, family education, work ethic
