Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attributionThank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into History of the formation of the United Kingdom. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 18:56, 8 July 2016 (UTC) Hello Diannaa, you are quite right, in my haste to fill what seemed an important gap, I stole some of this from the pages you've identified. Contested deletionThis article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... well, OK the article's not the biggest issue in the world today, but animal welfare is important and here are some people doing their best to help, so it seemed it would be good to help them by recording what they're doing... and they specialise in Pot-bellied pigs, not just an individual animal, but "a breed of domesticated pig" etc. I see under CSD-A7 "This criterion does not apply to species of animals, only to individual animal(s)". So as the article is about a breed, hence neither about (an) individual(s) nor about the entire species, perhaps it falls in some grey area... Not-so-speedy deletion? A tag has been placed on List of Welsh Government COVID-19 press conference videos requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Having checked the words at Wikipedia:Blocking policy I am none the wiser as to case history or typical blocking durations, however I am concerned that 31 hours is a relatively brief period. During this time, those making bona fide edits, in particular to update information regarding the spread of certain covid variants (specifically 501.V2 variant and Lineage P.1) will not to be doubling their efforts in order to check for and delete spurious entries from the 'rogue' user every time they perform an edit, and provide warnings to the user talk page. I think in particular of myself and the user 'User:SpookiePuppy'. In the last week, the edits from User:120.29.98.80 have all had to be reverted (as far as I know all of those (few) not tagged as 'reverted' have been reverted manually). The fictitious entries from the user have continued despite all the reversions and despite comments in the edit summaries and despite the warnings posted at their talk page- you may draw your own conclusions about this, but the kindest explanation I can imagine is that the user has no interest in such niceties as info sent to them via their talk page and the notification icons and no interest in checking previous edit summaries as to why contributions have been reverted. But that doesn't entirely fit with the fact that they have progressed from unreferenced contributions to falsely referenced ones, after certain edit summaries 'called them out' for such behaviour, which suggests to me less charitable explanations. So, without wishing to sound unduly like Judge Jefferies in my approach, I cannot help feeling that, in order to reduce the efforts required by bona fide contributors, a block measured in months (I wanted to say 'or years') would be more appropriate than one of 31 hours. Thanks for your work on the Wikipedia pages about this. I wonder if you could help us clarify the system on the site (we are not Wikipedians). Specifically, we need separate pages for the "Pango nomenclature system" and for "Pangolin". The former is the set of rules used to name the lineages, whilst latter is a software tool that implements those rules, and confusion arises if the two are conflated. See https://www.nature.com/articles/s41564-021-00872-5 for an initial attempt to clarify this. I'd be happy to be contacted at oliver.pybus@zoo.ox.ac.uk to discuss this with Wikipedians maintaining these important pages. Thanks again. A tag has been placed on Humanitarian Pilots Initiative, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Simlar flagsHello. I wanted to ask you, to please, stop recreating section "simlar flags" in the article about the White-blue-white flag. Articles about flags arent' supposed to have sections about similar or "identical flags". For example, here is a bunch of red and white flags from around the world, of which, non has a section about the ""simlar flags" in its articles:
You can see the same thing for other colour schemes such as blue-yellow-red: Flag having huge similarities with other flags is normal and regular occurrence, and adding such information into articles about flags, usually fall under the "trivia" category, which is not welcomed on Wikipedia. Non-attributed translationsThank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from es:Prabhakar Menon to another page. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an edit summary on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking it to the source page. Sample wording for this is given here. If you forgot, or were not aware of this requirement, attribution must be given retroactively, for example:
Retroactive attribution may be added using a dummy edit; see Repairing insufficient attribution. It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{translated page}} template on the talk page of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, you must add attribution retrospectively, even if it was a long time ago.
