Welcome Hello Writtenright and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad you've chosen to join us. This is a great project with lots of dedicated people, which might seem intimidating at times, but don't let anything discourage you. Be bold!, explore, and contribute. If you want to learn more, Wikipedia:Bootcamp teaches you the basics quickly, The following links might also come in handy: Edit summariesHi; I just wanted to turn your attention to Wikipedia:Edit summary. You don't have to waste time listing change details in the edit summary; if you only fix spelling and grammar (as you seem to do mostly), it's OK to put just an abbreviation like sp or fmt. Every page has a history, so the ones who want to go into details can see the exact changes there. Regards & keep up on good work. Duja 15:40, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Edits on usertalk pagesOn the one hand, I would like to thank you for your copyedits [1] on my usertalk page. "Soem" and "suspecious" were simple misspellings that the authors obviously didn't intend. On the other hand, I think some of your other edits [2] [3] were less beneficial. I always respect others' word choice on my talk page, even though I could easily alter their text to suit my tastes. In fact, this extends to the point that I won't even change spelling erros, as you saw. I'd like you to extend the same courtesy, and I've reverted the "english-ifying" and "who/whom" edits (I'd be glad to explain my reasoning behind keeping "who" as an object pronoun). I'm sure you had the best of intentions; thanks for the copyedit work. - Draeco 19:48, 31 March 2006 (UTC) __________________________________________________

The fastest way to restore text is to click on the 'History' tab, then select the version you want to restore (the one just before the vandal came in) by clicking 'last'. This will bring in the original non vandalized text. Select the 'edit this page' tab, write a comment in the 'Edit summary' like "revert vandalism" and click 'save page' and you are done. My mom always told me that if you are going to pick a fight, don't go hiding. By the way, also, do keep in mind that an IP address might not be used only by one person, so your remark may be read by someone who is, say, an inmate in the same penal institution, and appear to be directed at the wrong person. (Despite the tone of that last, I am serious about suggesting that you refrain from personal attacks, especially unsigned ones on IP pages. Even when sorely tempted.) - Jmabel | Talk 03:48, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

No Good Deed...I recently installed a WikiMedia wiki on my own server and kind of got the idea of how this works. I was viewing the Taxonomy page and found that it had an error. Someone had made a linke like this: SOMEPAGETITLE|PrettyTitle]] So I thought to myself, "Hey, self, that's not right. Cool, I know how to fix it." So I did. I put in two left braces. Now I'm a vandal and kinda pissed that I'm supposedly a vandal. You can see for yourself what changes I've made at Special:Contributions/68.254.154.126 (If that link will work (or just find contributions from 68.254.154.126 yourself)) If would be nice to know of exactly what kind of vandalism I'm accused of btw. Long story short, I saw a simple bug, fixed it, and now I'm a vandal. What crap! Dan —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.254.154.126 (talk) 05:40, 26 January 2007 (UTC). I responded on my talk page. Basically: think of it as a long stub. It's not as if anyone will mistake it for a completed article. - Jmabel | Talk 06:07, 1 February 2007 (UTC) NowakHeya, only want to let you know... the verb was meant to convey two meanings at once and since you weren't familiar with the article, I glark you naturally shifted it to the conditional. Jagged 85 03:20, 14 March 2007 (UTC) Please take care in technical articlesDear Commander: The "history" page of the article "History of evolutionary thought" records that on 25 February 2007 you edited the sentence "The preformed parts expanded and rearranged themselves to grow into an adult, and so Bonnet was called a 'preformationist'" to read "The performed parts expanded and rearranged themselves to grow into an adult, and so Bonnet was called a 'preformationist'". This "improvement" in spelling had to be reversed by GRBerry on 28 February 2007. You seem to be very good at taking criticism (which is refreshing!), so I gently offer this: when "fixing" technical articles, take great care: there are many terms used which are quite unknown to even fairly well-educated language users. "Preformed" is one such term. Thank you for your good attitude. Writtenright 00:45, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Writtenright
"Correction" to French 2007 election articleYour "correction" to the name of an image file broke the connection. The symposium would be an interesting one to explore as a vehicle for mental training. Its performance, especially in light of its inclusion of a psychoactive substance simultaneous with the execution of demanding mental and physical tasks, reminds me of ceremonies such as the peyote ritual of the Native American Church or the ayahuasca rituals of the UDV and other groups. Bangalore and MysoreOh, thanks a lot! I don't think there will be any corrections to make, that too from me, after your edits. If you will check dictionary.com and bartleby.com, you will see that "near" is an adverb and that "near dead" and "near-standing" are given as examples of use of it. PS What you will not find at dictionary.com or bartleby.com is "irresistable," which is how you've spelled it on your User page.John B of Philadelphia 07:42, 10 August 2007 (UTC) Lone versus onlyDear Writtenright -- I'm interested in the change you made from "lone" to "only" at "Paul Watkins (Manson Family)." hi- Need your helpHi. I remembered that you had done a really good job copy editing some articles such as Karnataka, which became a FA. I am currently working on Kingdom of Mysore and should be done adding all the relevant sections in a few weeks after which I would like to request your help with cpedits. In the mean time, I have written two important subarticles called Musicians of Mysore Kingdom and Mysore Kingdom literature. Please let me know if you have time to cpedit these two articles.Dineshkannambadi 18:48, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
For your efforts in cleaning up Mysore related articles
By the end of this week, I will complete the remaining section (called "administration") in the article Kingdom of Mysore, which I plan to move to Peer review by oct 10th, before FAC review. Fell free to jump in and copy edit whenever you are free, even during the peer review and FAC review. The article you just copy edited (musicians) is an important subarticle for the above mentioned article. A few weeks later, we (the Karnataka work group) plan to move Mysore also to peer review. I would like to request your involvement there too. So, there will be two articles to push towards FA - Kingdom of Mysore and Mysore.thanks.Dineshkannambadi 17:20, 3 October 2007 (UTC) Hi. Kingdom of Mysore is in Peer review. I am currently trying to make the article more concise with clever edits that convey the original meaning while taking up lesser space. Please feel free to continue to improve the prose.ThanksDineshkannambadi 13:12, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Basically, The auto review wants me to remove weasel words like "many", "in all" etc, redundant words, use British spellings instead of American spellings. I will also have to create subarticles for some sections like "religion", "society" to make the article concise. So let me create a few subarticles before you start prose editing, so you dont have to repeat your work. I will do it tonight. thanks a lot for your support.Dineshkannambadi 19:43, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
I have rewritten the "architecture" section with mostly book citations instead of web citations.Dineshkannambadi 03:36, 13 October 2007 (UTC) Thanks for all your effort in copy editing Kingdom of Mysore. hiHi. I have been busy planning the next FAC "Western Chalukya Architecture", an unique architectural idiom that flourised in Karnataka between the 11th and 12th centuries. With this effort in mind, I travelled to the districts of central Karnataka (Dharwad, Gadag etc.) this summer and visited a dozen of their fabulous monuments. I will finish writing this article and uploading some of the images which I am sure you will enjoy, sometime around Nov 10th. I am looking forward to your copy edit skills to help me make this article a FA.thanks.Dineshkannambadi 23:54, 23 October 2007 (UTC) Hi. The architecture article is still not written. I will start writing around Nov 1st. However it pertains to Western Chalukya Empire which is already a FA. If you have time you may give it a very light cp edit to the first 2 paragraphs of the "history" section where I have added some info recently. The rest of the article has been cpedited several times and may not need more attention. thanks.Dineshkannambadi 23:20, 24 October 2007 (UTC) Hi. I have completed the article Western Chalukya Architecture for most part. If you are free, please go ahead with copy edits. if you need any technical clarification, dont hesitate to ask me. I will be rereading the material to make sure the intended meaning has not been changed by me. By the end of this exercise, I am sure there will be lots of changes to make the article easier to understand. I just need to add a table that will include their famous monuments that exist, location, time of construction etc. Enjoy the photographs!!.Dineshkannambadi 12:09, 29 October 2007 (UTC) Hi. Thanks. I will add a paragraph or two and then go for PR.Dineshkannambadi 01:03, 4 November 2007 (UTC) Hi. I have moved this article to FAC. When you have time, please give it one more look. Mann vs ManWhen referring to the Isle of Man or Calf of Man, the word is spelled with only one "n". However, when the word Mann alone is used to describe the island then the word has two "n"s. This is a relic of the Gaelic origins of the name which is Mannin (Mann) or Ellan Vannin (Isle of Man). At least it didn't become the Isle of Van. Dabbler (talk) 15:32, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi. Yesterday, this FA article that I was involved in, became a wiki main page article. Some readers complained that the article uses too many adjectives and weasel words. See its talk page section called "Quality of this article". You were not involved in this project a year back. Please find time to do a light copy edit as the article needs your touch. The main intention will be to weed out too many flamboyant words.thanks as always. I will request an admin to unlock it for you.Dineshkannambadi 03:05, 4 December 2007 (UTC) Thanks for your effort.Dineshkannambadi 19:19, 4 December 2007 (UTC) Oh! no. I am really happy with your copy edits. I just left a hurried message on your page as I was at work. I reinstated the Vishnu avatars para only because I though you may have deleted it by mistake or something. The reason I removed those other adjectives was more to ensure that the users who complained about those words dont return with more complaints, so we can move on to other articles. Adjectives or not, those who visit Hoysala monuments will see for themselves. Thanks immensely for your efforts.Dineshkannambadi (talk) 00:09, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
On this note, the current FAC Western Chalukya architecture which is low on adjectives, a reviewer has objected saying the sentences are too long, and at times confusing. So, I am currently reducing/chopping sentences to make it more acceptable.Dineshkannambadi (talk) 00:42, 5 December 2007 (UTC) Please see if any sentences can be simpified in Western Chalukya architecture. I am also doing the same. Just skim through, no need for detailed copyedits as we have done enough over the weeks, I feel.Dineshkannambadi (talk) 02:08, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Unit dimensionalityPlease do not add "square" to units, unless the units are actually two dimensional. For example, if the text is "12 x 12 feet", it is incorrect to change it to "12 x 12 square feet." It would be correct to say "144 square feet," but then information is lost, namely the dimensions of the subject. I've corrected the instances of this error on Campo_del_Cielo. Simply note that this is not a stylistic issue, but does affect the factual claims of the articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.170.62.95 (talk) 22:04, 23 July 2009 (UTC) Data/Datum, and subject - verb agreementHiya Writtenright, I just wanted to come here and start a discussion with you about data/datum and subject verb agreement. You're of course correct that data is primarily a plural noun, but it's also used as a singular mass noun in modern usage. See wikt:Data, Dictionary.com: Data, and our own Data even has a section specifically about this. Thanks for editing though, keep up the good work!
You are now a ReviewerHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010. Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages. When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process).
