The maps in the category listed above are more detailed than the ones you did (showing yard leads, for instance). They also use the red color, because the menu of available pictograms is richer for the red color than for the blue. Some of the maps that have been done to date could not be done in blue without having to sacrifice important detail.
One last point: When a line template is embedded in an infobox, it does not display correctly. There is an interaction problem between the route map templates and the infobox template that no one yet has solved.
It seems to be browser and platform-dependent behavior, although I've seen the problem on both IE and Firefox. I think those line maps just need to stay out of the infobox. Marc Shepherd02:15, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just a heads up that Andrew Saul (vice-Chairman of the MTA) has been nominated for featured article status here. Any input, comment and suggestions would be greatly appreciated, there is not that much info on him as it relates to the MTA, and being an !expert, I'm not quite sure how well I can flesh it out. Thanks for uploading Image:DH 4-01.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Not a bad idea in principle, but I don't think you should add any more of 'em until you can get the infobox working properly. As now configured, it does not indent correctly, and looks very odd. Marc Shepherd19:16, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please, please, please, stop implementing {{s-rail}} on UK railway station articles, and participate in the discussions on the use of {{s-rail}} at WT:RAIL. Don't just tell us after the event what you've implemented (e.g. the Great Northern Line), in the middle of the night UK-time when no-one is likely to be able to respond. Orphaned non-free media (Image:C2c logo cropped.PNG)
Thanks for uploading Image:C2c logo cropped.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Do not take offense, but this template I have nominated for deletion was nominated because of the presence of the {{Infobox Station}} template, which is more comprehensive. Articles with the Infobox NJT template have had it replaced.
LIRR ridership figures
I noticed that you were the one who added ridership info to Template:Infobox NYCS; would you be so kind as to update the documentation to reflect this? It does not seem to list your ridership parameter.
On another note, I'm going to assume that you were the one who also added ridership data for various LIRR stations, am I correct? If so, could you kindly point me towards your source? Larry V (talk | e-mail) 00:01, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:SmartLink card.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Hi, I noticed that you converted the {{IRT Lexington Avenue Line}} template from the red icons to the blue icons. The problem is that not all of the necessary symbols exist in blue. This is the reason why the blue wasn't used in the first place. Although this particular template can be converted to the blue symbols, a number of them cannot be. As a result, the various subway templates would not be stylistically consistent.
Welcome to the second WikiProject Roller Coasters Newsletter! December has seen some real progress in terms of bringing up the quality of roller coaster related articles on Wikipedia. Assessment and tagging of articles is almost completely done and efforts are now being focussed on quality and improving articles. This month also sees the start of the new B-class drive, a brilliant way to get involved with the WikiProject and achieve something together.
Articles and Assessment
As far as assessment goes, the backlog from last month was cleared almost immediately after the last newsletter went out, almost single-handedly by Alton! A progress chart can be seen on the assessment page that shows we are slowly dragging up the quality of the articles covered by the WikiProject.
The following articles reached B-class quality during December:
The Amusement Parks Portal has been significantly expanded over the past month and is currently a candidate for featured portal. Any suggestions for featured articles and pictures can be put forward on their respective sections.
Membership News
During December the WikiProject was joined by 2 new members, bringing the total number up to 49 after 2 inactive users were removed from the member list. The to do list continues to serve as a place for flagging up articles in need of attention, review or comments.
So here is the first article improvement drive for the WikiProject, Arrow Dynamics. There isn't a huge amount that needs doing apart from the addition of references, formatting and a copyedit. For any outstanding contributions there are barnstars available which can be given to and by anyone!
Any suggestions for February's B-class Drive can be brought up on the talk page, so if there's a particular article you feel could benefit from more input then feel free to suggest it.
...and finally...
Once again, thanks for reading! As always suggestions and offers of help are much appreciated.

Welcome to the WikiProject Roller Coasters Newsletter! January has seen a number of milestones being passed in the WikiProject. We've achieved our first good article, brought a portal up to featured portal status and successfully collaborated together on the first Article Improvement Drive, amongst other achievements. Let's carry on with the good work and continue bringing up the standard of all articles covered by the WikiProject!
Articles and Assessment
We hit a milestone in January with our first GA-class article, Speed Monster! This shows just how easy it is improve articles by including references and increasing readability. Collaboration has got off to a good start, with the first chosen article, Arrow Dynamics, improving enough to reach B-class.
The Amusement Parks Portal reached featured portal status during January! You can still nominate articles for the selected content sections on the portal.
Membership News
During January the WikiProject was joined by 6 new members, bringing the total number up to 55. A very warm welcome to Etf, CPGACoast, RickMarkestein, Emackert, Onewayroad2home and Suttna08. The to do list continues to serve as a place for flagging up articles in need of attention, review or comments.
A discussion is taking place regarding the best way to organise information about roller coaster records and the history of roller coasters. All members' opinions are welcomed; the discussion can be found here.
Why not start at the top?! The main article is already at B class and, with a little help, isn't too far away from GA class. Please see the collaboration page for further information.
Any suggestions for March's Article Improvement Drive can be brought up on the talk page, so if there's a particular article you feel could benefit from more input then feel free to suggest it.
...and finally...
Once again, thanks for reading! As always suggestions and offers of help are much appreciated.
Hey Geoking66, I just have a quick question. Do we need the episode ratings this time around? Since Big Brother 9 is airing during the official television season wouldn't the table I added be sufficient? Do we really need a second ratings table? The reason I ask is because we have missing gaps in the Big Brother 8 ratings table. I just recently found the viewer number in millions for the finale on The Hollywood Reporter and we are still missing the viewership number for the last Sunday episode. So could we scrap the episode rating table this time around? ♪♫Alucard16♫♪01:49, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

About station articles
Hi, you seem to be devoting to station in Japan articles(?) recently. It's a good thing and I want to appreciate it, but you are erasing pictures and making all line colors black. And templates you are using are, so to speak, not neat. Can you submit more information and improve this template? And if you are so generous, please follow this. --Izumi5 (talk) 02:02, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
p.s. This is probably my willfulness, so if you want, ignore this. I'm using {{Infobox japan station}} which was created by me. I made it because {{Infobox Station}} doesn't suit to stations in Japanese because railroad system in Japan is a bit different from one in other countries. For example, one which has a ownership on a station is called operator (company), rather than owner. I cut the futile parameters that should be on the main section of the article. So I'm pleased if you could template of mine and, if you can, improve it. --Izumi5 (talk) 02:15, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Densities
I removed these as there seemed no consensus to add densities, and secondly, with the level of precision (2sf or 3sf at most) of the area figures supplied by the ABS, combined with the measurement of unpopulated areas (eg Hamersley and Eglinton which had large unpopulated areas), density figures are unreliable. Free though it may be, it's appalling as an image. For one thing, this is 2010, and colour is absent, whereas in real life, er, it isn't. Beyond that, the image suffers from intrusive unfocussed material in the lower right corner. Whereas I'm all for neutrality, this image does not, in my view, fairly represent Clegg. Comments? A tag has been placed on Editing Template:S-line/PM right/1, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Romanization for words of English origin
On the MOS:JP talk page, a discussion has been started about including or not including romanizations for words of English origin, such as Fainaru Fantajī in Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー, Fainaru Fantajī) (for the sake of simplicity, I called this case "words of English origin", more information on semantics here).
Over the course of a month, it has become apparent that both the parties proposing to include or not include those romanizations cannot be convinced by the arguments or guidelines brought up by the other side. Therefore, a compromise is trying to be found that will satisfy both parties. One suggestion on a compromise has been given already, but it has not found unanimous agreement, so additional compromises are encouraged to be suggested.
One universally accepted point was to bring more users from the affected projects in to help achieve consensus, and you were one of those selected in the process.
What this invitation is:
You should give feedback on the first suggested compromise and are highly encouraged to provide other solutions.
What this invitation is not:
This is not a vote on including or excluding such romanizations.

Thanks for uploading File:KarenBB1.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 17:13, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Language-population update project
Hi. The 18th edition of Ethnologue just came out, and if we divide up our language articles among us, it won't take long to update them. I would appreciate it if you could help out, even if it's just a few articles (5,000 articles is a lot for just me), but I won't be insulted if you delete this request.
Probably 90% of the time, Ethnologue has not changed their figures between the 17th and 18th editions, so all we need to do is change "e17" to "e18" in the reference (ref) field of the language info box. That will change the citation for the artcle to the current edition. Please put the data in the proper fields, or the info box will flag it as needing editorial review. The other relevant fields are "speakers" (the number of native speakers in all countries), "date" (the date of the reference or census that Ethnologue uses, not the date of Ethnologue!), and sometimes "speakers2". Our convention has been to enter e.g. "1990 census" when a census is used, as other data can be much older than the publication date. Sometimes a citation elsewhere in the article depends on the e17 entry, in which case you will need to change "name=e17" to "name=e18" in the reference tag (assuming the 18th edition still supports the cited claim).
Remember, we want the *total* number of native speakers, which is often not the first figure given by Ethnologue. Sometimes the data is too incompatible to add together (e.g. a figure from the 1950s for one country, and a figure from 2006 for another), in which case it should be presented that way. That's one use for the "speakers2" field. If you're not sure, just ask, or skip that article.
Data should not be displayed with more than two, or at most three, significant figures. Sometimes it should be rounded off to just one significant figure, e.g. when some of the component data used by Ethnologue has been approximated with one figure (200,000, 3 million, etc.) and the other data has greater precision. For example, a figure of 200,000 for one country and 4,230 for another is really just 200,000 in total, as the 4,230 is within the margin of rounding off in the 200,000. If you want to retain the spurious precision of the number in Ethnologue, you might want to use the {{sigfig}} template. (First parameter in this template is for the data, second is for the number of figures to round it off to.)
Dates will often need to be a range of all the country data in the Ethnologue article. When entering the date range, I often ignore dates from countries that have only a few percent of the population, as often 10% or so of the population isn't even separately listed by Ethnologue and so is undated anyway.
If Ethnologue does not provide a date for the bulk of the population, just enter "no date" in the date field. But if the population figure is undated, and hasn't changed between the 17th & 18th editions of Ethnologue, please leave the ref field set to "e17", and maybe add a comment to keep it so that other editors don't change it. In cases like this, the edition of Ethnologue that the data first appeared in may be our only indication of how old it is. We still cite the 14th edition in a couple dozen articles, so our readers can see that the data is getting old.
The articles in the categories linked above are over 90% of the job. There are probably also articles that do not currently cite Ethnologue, but which we might want to update with the 18th edition. I'll need to generate another category to capture those, probably after most of the Ethnologue 17 citations are taken care of.
Jump in at the WP:LANG talk page if you have any comments or concerns. Thanks for any help you can give!
On Saturday, February 27, we have three different events. In the morning, we're holding an Accessibility Edit-a-Thon at Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. In the afternoon, we'll host our second February WikiSalon at Cove Dupont Circle, followed by our monthly dinner meetup at Vapiano.
We hope to see you at one—or all—of these events!
Do you have an idea for a future event? Please write to us at info@wikimediadc.org!
Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Thanks.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:40, 28 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa.08:54, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity
Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowserCheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Nomination for deletion of Template:Westtak Ringspoorbaan map
Hi. This month The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There is over £3000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. Wikimedia UK is putting up £250 specifically for editors who produce the most quality new women bios for British women, with special consideration given to missing notable biographies from the Oxford Dictionary of Biography and Welsh Dictionary of Biography. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate independently this is also fine, but please add any articles created to the bottom of the main contest page even if not competing. Your participation in the contest and contributing articles on British women from your area or wherever would we much appreciated. Thanks.

A tag has been placed on Template:JR West color requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Project objectives
Continue to improve Big Brother articles to bring them inline with MOS:TV
The use of {{Episode table}} and {{Episode list}} with episode summaries of 200 words or less, or a general prose summary of 500 words or less, are preferred over other tables or formats (see Big Brother 23 (American season) for example).
Both Big Brother parent and season articles should follow the general format of articles described at MOS:TV (see Big Brother 21 (American season) for an example).
Where possible both Big Brother parent and season articles should have information regarding production of the series.
Per this discussion individual seasons of Big Brother should no longer contain a standalone article of contestants.
The Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on television has caused numerous seasons or editions to be cancelled, postponed, or adjusted significantly; any information relating to this can be added in appropriate production sections.

Thanks for the 2021 updates, but if you could please retain the previous census info in the History or Demographics sections (as applicable) in that article, that would be much appreciated. People find the comparisons intersting. Kerry (talk) 22:53, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
