Category:Faulkner County, Arkansas Registered Historic Place stubs

After I finished populating Category:Faulkner County, Arkansas Registered Historic Place stubs using AWB, the size of this category has only reached 33 stubs. While there may be 1 or 2 not categorized under Category:National Register of Historic Places in Faulkner County, Arkansas, I doubt that there are the 17 necessary to bring this category up to the minimum of 50 for keeping around a stub category. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 04:38, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your problems with PetScan

Having read your issues with PetScan in the comment you crossed out at WSS/P, I can tell you that I have the same problem occasionally. The issue is that, in some browsers, you end up copying some invisible character; you can see this by, after getting the screen with 0 results, clicking on the "with" in "Link to a pre-filled form for the query you just ran with and without auto-run" above the list, and looking at the new URL - specificly look in the categories section (everything between the "categories=" and the next ampersand) for any non-ASCII characters - these will look like a percent followed by 2 hex digits (standard digits, along with uppercase letters up to F); if you have multiple categories, they will be separated by "%0D%0A", and otherwise you shouldn't have any, in this section, in between category names. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 09:00, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProjects relating to the United States

Defying orders to the contrary, I wanted to help answer some of your questions about adding additional states to Template:WikiProject United States. When I was still actively editing my attempt was to try to do just that, to include all the inactive and defunct projects and any other US related ones that wanted to into a central banner similar to Military history and Biography, not to Mention Africa, Asia and a number of others. Hyperbole of a corporate takeover aside, my intention was to use the WPUS project as a central base from which to monitor and maintain articles on the other related projects. Working from a central location allows better visibility and the ability to ask questions of a larger community; standardize and eliminate redundancy, etc.. Some did not agree and sought to destroy me and eventually succeeded after years of fighting them and standing up against bullies for the editors on this site like you who are actively improving it. Those projects like Oregon, Florida, Alabama and others all decided they didn't want to participate. In most cases it was one or 2 people ONLY and most of them are now inactive as you noticed.

So I say that to explain some of the history but my advice to you is let the Wikiprojects relating to the United States die, especially the WPUS one. They are plutonium and anyone who actively tries to improve them will be attacked and bullied by other related projects like USRoads and Wisconsin (they share a lot of the same members). My further advice to you is to find something better to do, don't waste your time editing like I did only to have the community and the WMF spit in your face. I did over 1 million edits, created hundreds of articles, etc and now I am globally WMF banned because I refused to be bullied. Thank you. Without debating the usefulness of the "semi-active" status, there had recently been an addition to the Requests subpage, so effectively the project was active when you added the banner. Subpages should count in this figuring. There's also information automatically updating on the front page, such as articles most edited in the project, which updates daily. List of Missouri native plants

Hi, I'm a New Page Reviewer and I noticed you created a page called: List of Missouri native plants. Do you plan to expand on this further, please? If so, I think you would have been better off working on it in draft form. It certainly needs an explanation to say how complete it is, as it relies on just one public infomration website listing only 'common' trees and shrubs. Your list comes across as a definitive list, though it's anything but, and never likely to be so unless you use better sources to base that list upon. I therefore think its title is very misleading right now, and probably needs to be changed if you don't plan to work on it further. Why not name it: List of Missouri common native trees and shrubs, or something similar?

My personal view is that incomplete and unsortable species lists from a large geographic area are of no use to anyone on Wikipedia, except perhaps as vanity projects for their creators, or as an 'Aunt Sally' to get someone else to do the real hard work in creating a proper one. If common names in a sortable format and scientific names, too, aren't included, they're rather a waste of time altogether. If you do fancy making your list sortable and including scientific names, here's a list in a format I would recommend: List of species and habitats of principal importance in England. This kind of thing does need a bit more effort to create in Excel and can then simply be pasted into one's sandbox for testing once completed. But then what's the point of an incomplete list? @Nick Moyes: Well I certainly agree the article can be improved, so if you are testing the waters to help out, I don't WP:OWN the article, and would welcome your collaboration. Your example looks nice, although I am aspiring to List of California native plants, which is slightly different. The MO Department of Conservation is a good source, and here is the link to their list of flowers, grasses, and non woody plants. It may be a good source of information on common species, but is not a definitive list, so is a rather poor starting point for an article with that title. You could change it to "List of common species" as I suggested. But thank you for adding scientific names. I'd urge you to explain the limitations or basis of that list in the introduction, as this will aid users. Unfortunately I have other priorities based on rather more definitive species lists which prevents me from assisting you with this one, sorry. @Vrishaek: I saw that the link @Dragerok: added ar Lathe for that book was to a commercial website. The book seems like a good addition, and I felt I could help the contribution avoid being seen as spam, so I used a book citation template to create an ISBN link and to link to a Worldcat entry. If people can't find the book at a nearby library via Worldcat, then they are free to search the ISBN and purchase the book wherever is most convenient for them. Per the wikipedia policy WP:LINKSTOAVOID, item 5 recommends avoiding links to commercial websites, and item 15 indicates a preference for linking to noncommercial sites when possible. So to summarize, the book seemed relevant, but the specific site linked to was not preferred. @Furicorn: thanks for replying, but I have not seen the same case in response to amazon and they are not an NGO. Considering the library, my website is more than relevant against the world cat one in terms of not being spammy. We are a big ecomm. org with lakhs of books on all subjects/categories. My added link is just to highlight further read, not that its rate or offer is mentioned. The commercial value is not shown anywhere,

@Vrishaek: I have nothing in particular against your store - I would definitely consider Amazon links spam, and if I saw Amazon links I would repoint those towards worldcat as well. I guess I have been pretty lucky to not see any links like that. Also, I'm pretty sure it's looked on extra unfavourably to put a link to your own store, and if I were you, I would think twice about doing that. @Furicorn: thanks for quick revert, but there are so many amazon & other links all around here, and as already said we are not a spam site nor do I want to get other relevant site links to be removed. All the links are being called as referrers with no money mentioned anywhere. It is just the relevancy I am talking about. If money/offer was added then that could be totally called as commercial. And based on that I gladly would have not even disturbed you on my contribution. If that is the case then that link added by you, worldcat is also not called for. Where is the intelligence in that? As the contribution is mine so is the source. The double standards showed by you regarding other e-comm sites shown all over wikipedia, it means some other intentions are going on.

  1. You don't own your edit.
  2. This is not some personal vendetta against your ecommerce website. I Improved the edit with the {{Cite book}} template, and the default link it creates (because it's the preferred source on Wikipedia...) is to Worldcat. Because worldcat can tell you if a library nearby has the book you can access. I don't know the situation in India, so perhaps libraries are difficult to access, but certainly in the industrialized world libraries are fairly common and are typically free.
  3. I improved your edit because I get notifications about changes to Lathe, and none of the pages I watch or regularly edit ever have ecommerce links.
  4. I'm not sure why you're threatening me, and I don't have a boss at wikipedia because I don't work for wikipedia, I'm just a volunteer. I disagreed with you about the relevance of the bookseller to the particular page, and it seems like you think I am misinterpreting wikipedia policy. If you want a better resolution than this argument, you'll have to start a new section on Talk:Lathe. The rest of the community will weigh in and we'll find out how the matter is settled. I won't be responding to any further communication on this topic on my talk page, because based on your bizarre response to my attempt to help you, I don't think this discussion is going anywhere productive. If you do continue to try to bug me however, I will open up that discussion myself.

Afd of Souris-Red-Rainy Water Resource Region

I've closed the AfD you opened on this. AfD is for articles where a debate is necessary before deletion, not for routine maintenance. For those kind of cases you can use a CSD tag, see WP:CSD G6 in particular. In any case, we always keep a redirect of page titles with dashes from the page with hyphens because of the difficulty of typing dashes in the search box. You should also be aware that cut-and-paste moving of pages is generally not allowed because the edit history of the page must be preserved for attribution reasons. The only reason I have not undone your move is because you were the only person to edit the page making the attribution issue moot. In future please use the move button to change page names. See WP:MOVE if you don't know how to do this.

This page probably should be moved again because of a capitalisation issue in the title. Our style on Wikipedia is to capitalise only the first word and proper nouns in titles, see Wikipedia:Naming conventions (capitalization). Thus, the title should be Souris–Red–Rainy water resource region. There seem to be a whole bunch of related articles with this problem. SpinningSpark 22:49, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I ultimately don't know if they are official or anything, but someone else on my talk page made it sound like it's normal practice, and that redirecting the name spelled with regular dashes makes it easier for people to search for article titles written with en-dashes. Your recent edits to {{Template sandbox}} had the unintended side effect of causing almost 100 user sandbox pages to get categorized as Category:Stub categories, because the embedded "upmerged stub category" and "parent-only stub category" templates automatically pushed the "stub categories" category through to every single page that's transcluding the template sandbox. You need to be careful that any edits you make to the sandbox page don't accidentally cause sandbox pages to get categorized as articles — so please wrap any embedded templates inside the {{Suppress categories}} template.
