1. I don't really know if what I'm doing is procedurally correct and stuff, maybe I should go on the talk pages of the articles before making big formatting and copyedit changes? I thought those articles were small so I didn't think many people would care, but again, I'm not sure if that's procedurally correct.
2. And after copyediting, I thought I've finished so I just popped the copyedit tag right off of the article, should I keep it there for other people to review it first? not entirely sure.

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Hi, if all you do is add a source or do some copyediting to get an article ready for the main page, you can go ahead and approve the nomination. But if you add a lot of sources, or do serious rewriting, you should add your name to the DYK co-creation credits and call for a new reviewer. Does that make sense? Hi Awsomaw! I noticed you were an instrumental editor in the creation of TobyMac's The Elements album article. He's one of my favorite artists, and he recently came out with a new album, titled The Lost Demos. I'm not in a position to write this article myself, I've only written a couple an joined about a year ago. I found some sources:

Thank you for the help

Hello Awsomaw, I've been pulling my hair all morning trying to figure out how to go back and add my edit summary to my change. I was in the process of explaing the copy/edit over to another page, when I hit the Return key, which seemed to publish the change instead of giving me a new paragraph :) I also tried to restore the content in order to start over, but as a new editor, I wasn't sure if I would mess it up more. So thank you for the notice and restoration. I will go back now and explain why I moved the sentence and its citations over to cyanobacteria, and why I felt it didn't belong on the Aphanizomenon flos-aquae page. I will also paste this response over at your talk page. I'm not sure if I sure respond both here and the talk page, so I'll do both. Again, thank you for this help. And also, I also sometimes forget to add an edit summary as well, and you can't change an edit summary after the fact, but I usually will go back to the page and add a space somewhere, and then write my edit summary that I forgot to write. There are a number of incorrect, outdated or misleading citation links in the few pages that I have knowledge in. I suspect this is common across much of the sciences. As an editor, is the objective to edit these with as much gentleness as possible? I suppose there are occasional disagreements, and just explain as thoroughly as possible and cite, cite, cite. I would say that, generally speaking, you should be bold when editing. This does not necessarily preclude being gentle, but most pages lay dormant for years, so if you don't do it, no one will. Unless you are editing really popular topics that gets daily edits, the best strategy is just to go ahead and change and fix what you think needs to be fixed. Just always make sure to leave a reliable source and an edit summary.
If you make a really large change to an article, sometimes it is good to leave a note on the talk page. Then your edit summary can be something like "moving this section to another article, see talk page for more details." Even when I do this to medium-trafficked articles, usually no one cares or responds for years, so long as it makes sense.
And if you think that a major or significant change needs to be made on a really high-trafficked article, it might be good to start the discussion on the talk page. I generally don't touch those articles though. Hope this helps. Awsomaw (talk) 12:56, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
