City in Khuzestan, Iran
Tashan (Persian : تشان )[ a] is a city in, and the capital of, Tashan District of Behbahan County , Khuzestan province, Iran .[ 4] It also serves as the administrative center for Tashan-e Sharqi Rural District .[ 5] [ b] In July 2013, the village of Mashhad merged with the villages of Ablesh , Chahardahi-ye Asgar , Chahardahi-ye Sohrab , Deh-e Ebrahim , Kalgeh Zar , Masiri , Sarallah , Shahrak-e Taleqani , and Tall Kohneh to form the new city of Tashan.[ 3]
Demographics
Population
At the time of the 2006 National Census, the population (as the total of its constituent villages prior to the merger) was 4,608 in 961 households, when it was in Tashan-e Sharqi Rural District.[ 6] The following census in 2011 counted 4,550 people in 1,141 households.[ 7] The 2016 census measured the population as 4,281 people in 1,159 households,[ 2] by which time Mashhad had merged with other villages and was elevated to the status of the city of Tashan.[ 3]
