Line 1 plan calls for an almost entirely elevated extension of approximately 11.7 km. The extension will have 8 passenger stations, with an option for 2 future stations (Manuyo Uno and Talaba), all intended to be constructed above-ground.[1]
As of April 30, 2024[update], the Phase 1 is 98.2% complete. DOTR Executive Assistant Jonathan Gesmundo announced the construction of 8 additional stations to the current 20 LRT-1 stations, with partial operations of LRT-1 Cavite Extension expected in 4th quarter of 2024. Meanwhile, Phases 2 and 3 will begin operations by 2031.
