Mihai Timofti (19 September 1948 – 10 November 2023) was a Moldovan theatre and film director, actor, multi-instrumentalist musician, professor, screenwriter, writer and composer. Held an honorary title of "Master of Arts".
Biography
In 1965 he started his activity in the popular theatre "Contemporanul" (Art Director was the playwright Mr G.Timofte), where he appeared for the first time on the stage performing the leading part in the comedy of Mr G. Timofte "The Dreams and Troubles".
In 1967, he graduated from the E. Coca Musical School (now it is the Ch. Porumbescu Lyceum), the clarinet class and piano. At the Moscow Festival of the Popular Theatres in 1967 Mihai Timofti was awarded two gold medals for the leading part in the comedy "The Dreams and Troubles" and for the music written to this play.
In 1971, he graduated from the G. Musicescu State Conservatoire (the faculty of Director of Drama).
From 1971 to 1981, he worked at the Moldova Film Studio. He turned out about 40 documentary and short musical films.
He died in Chișinău on 10 November 2023, at the age of 75.[1]
Death
On 26.10.2023, Maestro Mihail Timofti was hospitalized at Lechsanupr Hospital located at str. Drumul Viilor 34, Chișinău, in the urology department due to kidney failure.
On 1.11.2023 (18:35), in a severe (pre-coma) condition, Maestro Timofti was transferred to the Republican Hospital (IMSP SCR "Timofei Moshneaga"), where on 3.11.2023 he underwent surgery to unblock his kidneys, but the operation was halted due to diffuse bleeding. Maestro M. Timofti fell into a deep coma (coma 3) until 10.11.2023. At 12:20, Maestro Mihail Timofti passed away.
Cause of death (The statement is official and based on the document "Medical Certificate of Death - M. Timofti."): I. a) Toxic-septic shock; b) Mixed sepsis: urogenic, pulmonary; c) Left-sided pyonephrosis II. Urolithiasis, stones in both kidneys.
