The group became heroes, especially the woman, Huria Matenga (Julia Martin), who became known as "the Grace Darling of New Zealand".[ 13] The site of the wreck is now known as Delaware Bay .[ 14] [ 15]

Her crew set fire to her and abandoned ship. Confederate sharpshooters killed a U.S. Navy landsman approaching her to attempt to put out the fire, and Connecticut then destroyed her.
