Tudung kutub Selatan pada 2000

Planet Mars memiliki dua tudung es kutub permanen. Pada musim dingin di kutub tersebut, wilayah tersebut mengalami kegelapan dan menyebabkan deposisi 25–30% atmosfer dalam kandungan es CO₂ (es kering).^[1]
