Can you identify, what was the venue of 1989年羽毛球世界盃. I wrote there Guangzhou Gymnasium, but this was built much later. By the way, are there some national championships in Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan or China I missed to add to de-wiki?--Florentyna(留言) 2023年7月23日 (日) 11:00 (UTC)
@Florentyna:For first questation: There was an old gymnasium called "Canton Gymnasium" (See article 广州体育馆 (流花)), was demolished in 2001. The "Guangzhou Gymnasium" and the "Canton Gymnasium" are both wrote in same Chinese words "广州体育馆". According to People's Daily's report on Nov 16, 1989, World Cup 1989 was held at a place called "广州体育馆", so I think World Cup 1989 should be held at "Canton Gymnasium".--Terry850324(留言) 2023年7月23日 (日) 11:34 (UTC)
Q2:
Hong Kong Badminton Team Championships has been held for a long time (44th editon in 2022), but only Intermediate Level until 2017. Since 2018, they started holding Senior Level championships. See result: 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022. Result since 2006 to 2022 on official website, search text: "會長盃全港羽毛球混合團體錦標賽".
Hong Kong Youth Badminton Championships: Result since 2007 to 2022 on official website, search text: "全港青少年羽毛球錦標賽".
Taiwanese Badminton Ranking Tournament should be treated as national championships since Taiwanese Badminton Championships hasn't been held for a long time.
In Google we can find sources saying he was born in Bagan Serai, while others saying Parit Buntar. After all in the original article reference, he was directly quoted as saying "我在霹州出世后", he did not say anything about "巴里文打". Should we simply list it as Perak then? @Griff88,from the reference number 1 have mentioned “许多人都好奇,为何会选择在怡保进行新球拍推介活动,其实有许多人并不知道他是在霹州巴里文打出生”,or can you provide the source of mention LCW born in Bagan Serai? Thanks.--Xiiaowu97(留言) 2023年8月19日 (六) 18:21 (UTC)
Yes, sorry for the late reply. From LCW's autobiography "败者为王" and on page 34 it says "一九八二年十月二十一日, 我出生在马来西亚霹雳州的巴眼色海 (Bagan Serai)".You can see the photo of that page in this link--Griff88(留言) 2023年8月27日 (日) 08:22 (UTC)
1971 Asian Championships
Hi Terry, I'm having difficulty in translating this piece of news from the url in which a lot of valuable information is given about medalists of this tournament. I tried so many times but couldn't decipher some names, especially the ones in Women's doubles. Please ignore the junior event results there.
Do you mean the third place game of each events wrote in the news? I think final results in EN Wiki is complete. 3rd place result of each events:
Women's Double: en:Yoon Im-soon/may be Kim Yun-ja 15-0, 15-0 馮玉美/龍戴雅娜. I can't find any info by using '馮玉美' and '龍戴雅娜', their name must homophonically translate. I know a Hong Kong report on Facebook called 'Edwin Leung', maybe you can get some info from him.
In this edition (1971), the bronze medalists as well as scores for Women's doubles are completely unknown. I tried to translate from every angle possible, and I just got an indication if there were one South Korean and one Hong Kong pair in bronze medal positions in Women's doubles.
In Women's singles semifinals, score is given in news report but due to my negligible Mandarin knowledge, I could only find score for one semifinal (Yoon Im-soon vs Syliva Ng). The other semifinal is between Utami Dewi and Taty Sumirah.--Zoglophie(留言) 2023年9月15日 (五) 14:34 (UTC)
I can only know women's single bronze medalists are en:Yoon Im-soon/may be Kim Yun-ja. Another semifianlists still unknown, because Nanyang Siang Pau didn't use actual Chinese name.
Also here, some information about scores is given but the chinese writing makes it difficult to understand for me. Can you please translate the required information and write it here? Thankyou so much!--Zoglophie(留言) 2023年9月14日 (四) 20:55 (UTC)
Thanks a lot Terry. I was scratching my head with the awful translations of Google. Thankfully a lot of information is now deciphered. Apparently Asian Badminton Confederation can't release the list of medalists just like European Badminton Confederation and we have to dwell into these ancient news reports.--Zoglophie(留言) 2023年9月15日 (五) 16:04 (UTC)
I'm also disappointed about this. Most of Asian country do not prioritize the preservation of tournament data. This makes us have to search through a large amount of news archives. --Terry850324(留言) 2023年9月15日 (五) 16:22 (UTC)
