Background: The impact of hospitalization one of which is anxiety. It can also occur in preschool children whowere hospitalized, so it can disturb the process of care and treatment given. One way to reduce the anxietythat is with play therapy.Objective: To determine the level of anxiety due to hospitalization that occurs in preschoolers and the effect ofplay therapy to decrease levels of anxiety due to hospitalization.Methods: This study used an experimental design with one group pre test-post test design. Samplingtechnique using non probality sampling technique by quota sampling. The sample in this study amounted to 30preschoolers of boys and girls. Play therapy is used that is coloring an origami.Results: The results of bivariate analysis indicate that there is a difference between the level of anxietyexperienced by children before and after play therapy with a significant p = 0.0001 at α = 0.05. Levels ofanxiety prior to play therapy showed score of 21.13, including the level of moderate anxiety, while the level ofanxiety after the play therapy showed score of 14.00, including the level of mild anxiety.Conclusion: There are significant differences in anxiety levels before and after play therapy.
