Timeranger

Why is Timeranger included in the list of 20th century sentais in the box at the bottom of the series pages? It started and ended in 2000, it should be in the 21st century section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.54.112.213 (talk) 09:44, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Powers Rangers episodes in need of deletion

I feel these articles should either be merged or deleted they are not noteworthy and don't have reliable third person info.

Countdown to Destruction,The Fate of Lightspeed,Ghost of a Chance (Power Rangers) and Once a Ranger

The second and third I'd agree about. The first is a maybe. The last has other sources.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 00:04, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Proposal for Additions to Double Pages

well, a recent issue of Televi Magazine released a few names worth mentioning. first is the name to Skull's motorcycle, the SkullBoilder(Sukaruboiruda-) which uses a weapon called the UniversalLauncher(Yuniba-sarurancha-) so I think that info should be added in. also, it listed one of Accel's finishers as Dynamic Ace(Dainamikkue-su) so that might be the name for the first version of the Engine Maximum Drive, while "A-Slasher" is the second version. so I think those additions should be made —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.22.36.95 (talk) 18:30, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

This is better for Talk:Kamen Rider Double where you have also put the question.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 00:39, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Proposed new Power Rangers character infobox

I have proposed a new infobox for articles on Power Rangers characters. The reason is because of numerous edit wars on what color should the infoboxes be for Rangers who were more than one color (i.e. longest served vs. most recent). In this new version, we can represent all colors equally.

Colons

Someone is attempting to move every single Power Rangers page with a colon in the title to titles without the colon based on the rantings and ravings at RangerBoard. The discussion is here.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 10:47, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

No, I'm doing it because according to Bandai and Disney, two of the three major powers behind the series, there are no colons. Heavydata (talk) 11:11, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

Super Sentai character pages cleanup

I think some of the Super Sentai-based articles, particularly the individual heroes and villains pages for all the post-Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger shows, are in dire need of cleanup. Some of the page titles, like Zyurangers and Dairangers could use some disambiguation (i.e. "Zyuranger (characters)" and "Dairanger (characters)"), while others (like Tatsumi family and Ozu family) are in definite need of having new page names since their current ones are way too vague. I don't know why the villains are given separate pages when it would be easier to simply to list both, heroes and villains in an overall character lists for each series (i.e. "Characters in Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger", "Characters in Gosei Sentai Dairanger"). I personally don't like having separate character pages for each series, since most of these shows are relatively short and self-contained anyway and any relevant information could simply be summarized instead of having over-explain every single plot detail, but I'll set aside that for now Any suggestions? Jonny2x4 (talk) 20:51, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

They are in need of clean up, but I do not think that renaming the pages or combining the pages on the heroes and villains is at all necessary. They are currently very large because all of the shows prior to Gekiranger are focused mostly on the entire plot summary of the characters throughout the series, rather than relying on an episode list to convey all of that information. It is also better to have the two pages separate because the heroes' and villains' pages include information that would not belong in a combined character list, namely the arsenal/mecha of the heroes and the arsenal/monsters of the villains. Page titles like "Zyurangers", "Dairangers", etc. are not the best, but there are no other suitable disambiguations, whereas "Tatsumi family", "Ozu family", "Search Guard Successor Foundation", "Geki Jūken Beast Arts", etc. are excellent disambiguations, so I do not know why you think "Tatsumi family" and "Ozu family" are too vague. Disambiguation exists to separate two similarly titled items (as is done for the articles for protagonists of the Kamen Rider Series). If we were to treat these pages as we do the Kamen Rider ones, that would mean that for series that do not have protagonists as part of some larger organization that we can categorize them and all related characters, we would have to go with "Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger (team)" rather than "(characters)", as the latter implies it is a totally inclusive character list for the series, which I already stated is something I don't really see helpful or happening.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 22:59, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Tatsumi family and Ozu family are both vague because "Tatsumi" and "Ozu" are real Japanese surnames. Its like writing an article about the title characters in The Incredibles with the page title the "Parr family". It implies that the article is about an actual family with that surname and not a group of fictional characters I don't see why having a general character page couldn't cover the mechas as well. The heroes pages for some of the shows feature many one-shot side characters that are technically not part of the team. The reason why I don't like "Zyurangers" and "Dairangers" is because those plural terms were never actually used on the shows themselves and its too close to "Zyuranger" and "Dairanger", which are used as redirects to the shows' pages. "Zyuranger" (team)" is better because at least is disambiguating it from the show's page. Jonny2x4 (talk) 01:11, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
There are no other articles on the English Wikipedia that use the titles "Tatsumi family" or "Ozu family", and it's better than having it at "GoGoFive (team)" and "Magirangers (team)". And the pages are not going to be compiled into a single character list because the article would be way too big. And there should be a better disambiguation title rather than just tacking on "(team)" to the end of the article title (these were previously disambiguated by prefacing the titles with "The", but apparently that's not allowed).—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 01:24, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
I'm honestly not fond of most of these names, current or proposed. About the only ones I like are the likes of "Search Guard Successor Foundation" and "Geki Jūken Beast Arts". I don't care for the "* family"-type names, but I can't think of any better names, either. Same with the Zyurangers, Dairangers, etc. names. They're necessary evils, really. Not the only place where Wikipedia has awkward names for something just because there are really no good ones. The separate character pages, though, are good ideas in that they make the main pages more concise and focused. jgpTC 01:35, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

Day of the Dumpster episode proposal

I believe Day of the Dumpster should be merged into List of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes since Day of the Dumpster relies on Rangers Central which is a fansite as a main source to assert notability. Finding better third person sources

Since its been established that websites like Rangers Central aren't considered reliable third person sources :See "Is Rangers Central a reliable website!". I think more needs to done to find reliable sources for articles relating to the Power Rangers especially the older shows in the franchise. I feel too many Power Rangers articles rely on Primary sources does anyone have a view? 82.25.105.18 (talk) 15:06, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

There aren't any major third party publications that will discuss the content of any Power Rangers shows, so one has to fall back on the next best thing which unfortunately is the self-published fan community.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 18:34, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

But they're not going to cover any of the specific episodes that fansites will, which are what you want the better third person sources for.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 18:20, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Kamen Rider templates

User:Neelix is currently trying to force a new formatting for the Kamen Rider templates, by doing the following edits:

  • Combining the "Kamen Riders" & "Other characters" lines into a single line
  • Eliminating any links to related sections on articles, which incorporates
  • Removing the colons in the section names (this has been done because it's just a single character)

This effectively stretches out the template to fill the whole page, while he claims it is making the template more compact (vertically). While these edits have only been performed on {{Kamen Rider Decade}} (and I reverted them and explained to him that I disagreed with the formatting), he continues to make the edits and has stated that he will continue to make these edits to all of the other templates. Here are my arguments for the current formatting:

  • The current formatting provides links to the protagonists (should they have individual articles or not) and a separate line for supporting cast and antagonists. By dividing the templates as such, it takes up less space horizontally on the monitor.
  • Linking to characters (or other media) that do not have their own article, but rather a section on a greater article, allows the reader to find that section more easily. There may be a link to the full article in the template, but why should that matter?
  • The only other issue that this would have would be the fact that the "Episode Yellow" link was removed from {{Kamen Rider Decade}}. It does not have its own page, and it is a related article. I do not understand why he consistently removes this link.

There. Now Neelix can respond in a fashion that everyone can respond to, rather than continuing the discussion on a single page.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 02:07, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Go Go Kamen Rider

Why doesn't Go Go Kamen Rider have its own article? It seems to have been the first ever Kamen Rider film. It's got to be more notable than Kamen Rider G at least. NotARealWord (talk) 14:48, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Kamen Rider G received plenty of press around its release in early 2009. It's notable for being a collaboration between SMAP and Ishimori Pro. You are probably right that the Showa era films are notable. It's just that they're all just a series of related TV episodes.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 19:09, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
By "received a lot of press" you mean what kind of press, exactly? Press releases don't establish notability, and there's also WP:109PAPERS which discusses how a topic is not notable if only covered within a very short timeframe. Also, why is there no article on SMAStaion? NotARealWord (talk) 10:07, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Discussion in newspapers and the like (and very likely many news programs/variety shows). And I don't know why we don't have an article on SMAStation on this language project. No one has gone out of their way to decide it should get an article like it does at the Japanese Wikipedia. Honestly, it doesn't hurt the project to keep these pages. And also there is a big difference between some event in the newspaper and a nationally televised event.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 17:57, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
The lack of a SMAStation article is why I find it unconvincing that G is notable. Then again, a lot of notable stuff has been neglected, like those other Kamen Rider movies (Project G4, etc. ) NotARealWord (talk) 23:14, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
