Suggestion for WikiProject United States to support Ohio and Cincinatti

Someone recently suggested that this project as well as WikiProject Cincinnati be included in the list of projects supported by WikiProject United States. After reviewing the project it appears that there has been no activity on either the project page or the talk page since 2010. Please feel free to contact me if there are any comments or questions.

If the members of the project do not want to be supported by WikiProject United States I would like to propose adding WikiProjects Cincinnati and Youngstown as a task force of this project. --Kumioko (talk) 18:21, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

(1)This project is fairly dead, but I'm not sure how appropriate a WP:US banner would be on some of the pages where we currently have WP:OH banners. The project has cast a pretty wide net. (2)When WP:US begins to "support" a project does that project receive increased activity? I want to make sure that such a change would be beneficial to both projects before making a choice either way. (3)A while ago I privately messaged a few people about incorporating city projects Youngstown, Cincinnati, and Cleveland. If I remember correctly whoever was running things at WP:CITIES didn't want to cede that much control to WP:OH. If things have changed there I would be happy to help turn the cities into task force projects. (4) I hope I don't come off as unwelcoming/defensive. I'm just curious what all we could expect to happen if WP:US took a leading role. ShepTalk 17:57, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
Good Questions Let me try and answer those in order.
  1. That should be fine, American Old West includes articles that go down into Mexico and include articles for things that predate the US like some of the Indian tribes and territorys.
  2. For the next couple months the activity will increase a fair bit for several reasons. I use AWB to run through all the articles and look for a variaty of things like typos, formatting, etc. Additionally several bots will be unleashed doing other things to both the article and the talk page (assessments, adding templates and categories, adding portals, persondata and infoboxes, adding/fixing citations, etc). It takes time to tag the articles, update the templates and add the structure and categories that the WPUS banner supports (Needs infobox, needs image, needs maps, etc) and currently most of the individual state templates do not. I am currently working with several bot operators to tag additional articles as well (about 3-5000 on average per state so far), add parameters for things the articles need (like needs infobox or image), assess articles, etc. In the next couple months I am planning on doing some drives to recruit for the projects (not just US but all the supported projects), do some article improvement/creation drives, etc. Many of the bots will be recurring so they will pass through once a month or so (at least) to check on any new updates. Additionally if there is other support/functionality that you want let me know what ideas you have and we might be able to incorporate those to other projects as well.
  3. This isn't a hostile takeover and as far as I'm concerned cities can share the projects with us (as in we both tag the articles). I have said to several people that my preference is for multiple projects to tag articles and have overlapping scopes so that when one project isn't doing something in theory another might be. Each incrementally improving the article. Rather than approach it as a switch from those projects falling under cities to falling under Ohio I would recommend looking at it as a shared event with both projects supporting them. If we add these project to US we will be creating categories and parameters to track the problems and tagging them as such so all cities has to do is watch from afar. With that said I haven't noticed much activity from cities anyway.
  4. Nope no worries you don't seem defensive at all. --Kumioko (talk) 19:17, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
What about Townships taskforce and WikiProject Cleveland? Should it be pulled under WikiProject United States as well? JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 20:07, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
I didn't notice Townships earlier my apologies. If possible I would prefer to pull in any taskforces if this project gets added. --Kumioko (talk) 20:27, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the answers. This looks like a good idea and I'll support the merger. ShepTalk 16:41, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Ohio politicians

I wanted to say good work to everyone, and to let everyone know that we have just seen nine pages of current state legislators deleted due to vandalism. If someone is willing to recreate those nine pages, each current state legislator will be represented. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by WittTigers (talkcontribs) 15:03, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Do you know what those 9 pages were? What kind of vandalism caused these to get deleted? --Kumioko (talk) 15:16, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
WittTigers is apparently a sock of OSUHEY, who was blocked for copyright violations and has been banned for copyvios and for socking while blocked. They were deleted under speedy criterion G5, which permits the deletion of pages created by banned or blocked users editing in violation of their bans or blocks. Suggestion to modify Member list structure

If its ok with the members of the project I would like to change a couple things about how the members list displays to be like the one here. There are a couple reasons for this:

  1. Changing the format to the one on the subpage allows us to see how many members there are
  2. Changing the format to the one on the subpage also allows us to easily see the members contributions so if they go inactive we can move them to the appropriate section
  3. Changing the format would put it in the same format used by most of the other US related projects and will make it look more consistent across US related projects. --Kumioko (talk) 00:48, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

Erie Railroad station photos

Hi. Was wondering if there were some good/adequate photographers in Ohio who might be able to help this Jerseyan with a favor. I do a lot of research on the Erie Railroad which was quite extensive through Ohio, and am in desperate need of photos for certain stations, most of which are gone, but of the ones that stand, I'd appreciate someone who is in the Cleveland suburbs and can get to Warren with ease, as the sandbox is almost ready for publishing and I am photoless. If someone wants to inquire here or on my talk I wouldn't mind. Mitch32(There is a destiny that makes us... family.) 00:13, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Cincinnati-area request: Comair HQ near Erlanger, KY

I would like for someone to photograph the corporate office buildings, including the Comair General Office Building, the Comair corporate headquarters at 77 Comair Boulevard, and the building at 82 Comair Boulevard, both in Erlanger, KY, at Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Airport. Since Comair is shutting down on September 29, 2012, I would like for someone to take this photo as soon as possible. I do not want for the Comair markings to be taken off of the buildings. If you want to, please photograph the Comair buildings. Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 12:05, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

merge of request photo categories

Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Ohio has a large number of sub-categories, most of which only have one or two request in them or go down to town categories with only a few requested for images. I propose that these categories be deleted and the requests there moved to the State level. The exception to this would be Category:Wikipedia requested photographs of people of Ohio, Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Cincinnati, Ohio and Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Cleveland, Ohio which have a reasonable number of requests. The categories are not intended to classify photo requests but to aid people identify requests and find pictures. Clicking though a hundred sub-categories is not productive, particularly as the requests can be mapped to google or bing using the links top right of the page. Comments? --Traveler100 (talk) 18:23, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea to me; I've never understood why it's been subdivided. Nyttend (talk) 17:08, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Template:User in Ohio issue

I finally added userboxes to my user page after who knows how many years. I tried {{User in Ohio|option=54}} and fiddled around with it somewhat. It seems to return the output of either option 1 or 99, but definitely doesn't say that I was born in Ohio, which is what I want it to say. Any hints if I'm doing something wrong here?RadioKAOS (talk) 04:35, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

redirect pages

I have been wondering why not all articles in Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Ohio have been showing up with google map plot. I now believe it is to do with the many articles that are actually redirect pages. There are {{reqphoto}} templates on a number of talk pages where the article page is a redirect page, but the actual article's talk page does not have a {{reqphoto}} template on it. Also some real article talk pages have a redirect status in the {{WikiProject National Register of Historic Places}} template. Any ideas how best to sort this out? --Traveler100 (talk) 12:50, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia requested photographs in Ohio counties

The Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Ohio currently has 375 requests pending. It also has eight subcategories, including two specific counties, Butler County and Warren County.

This section is to suggest that photographs should be requested by county in most instances. Ohio is a big state, (List of counties in Ohio is a list of the eighty-eight counties in Ohio, shows how big.) and residents of Cleveland are unlikely to take photographs in Butler County, or even of nearby sites, when it is difficult to learn which of the 375 requests is for a nearby site. This change is a big job, but the result of requests being answered with new photographs will be well worth it.

This suggestion is related to the redirect pages section above.

Comments on this idea welcomed.--DThomsen8 (talk) 15:44, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

This is always an interesting discussion and decision. When a requested photograph category is too large then it makes sense to split, however splitting too much does not help. 375 requests is not many, over a 1000 then it is worth looking at as running scans over such a number is a challenge. Look at Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Georgia (U.S. state), if you do not know the state well and are visiting the area, how to you find the right places. Splitting these into counties would mean many counties would have only one or two requests. Clicking up and down these sub-categories is annoying. To find the location of a requests you can use the google map functionality. Having said all that, over 300 is on the boarder of wanting to split into sub-categories. What I would suggest is creating a few sub-categories where there are concentrations of requests, usually metropolitan areas that match WikiProjects and task-forces. As actually is the case here with Cincinnati and Cleveland. Could also consider Toledo and Columbus.--Traveler100 (talk) 16:55, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
Look at talk:Ahold, which has the template {{reqphoto|in=Pennsylvania|in2= Cumberland County, Pennsylvania|of=Ahold USA offices}}, which causes the request to be for Category: Wikipedia requested photographs in Pennsylvania and for Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. --DThomsen8 (talk) 17:52, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
In a few instances, only the state is relevant. Consider Talk:Pennsylvania Bluestone, which is a stone quarried in much of Pennsylvania. --DThomsen8 (talk) 18:27, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
Yes well they were added by the user WhisperToMe, although most of the time he get it right but he does sometimes go over the top on requests. This should just be in the county. --Traveler100 (talk) 19:07, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

Discussion to remove the Automatically assessed logic from the WikiProject United States template

Greetings, there is a discussion regarding removal of the logic used to populate Automatically assessed article categories from Template:WikiProject United States. Most of the categories (over 220 Wikipedia wide) were deleted in February 2013 because they were empty. These categories were previously populated by a bot that hasn't run since 2011 and the categories aren't used. Removal of this uneeded/unused logic will greatly reduce the size and complexity of the WikiProject United States template. Any comments or questions are encouraged here. Kumioko (talk) 18:48, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

Lest there is any confusion for people who don't speak the same language, the words "logic used to populate Automatically assessed article categories" refer to the feature that was supposed to allow this WikiProject's template to "inherit" class and importance ratings from other WikiProjects. Kumioko says that there are no longer any bots performing the function that formerly copied those ratings. --Orlady (talk) 23:28, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Invitation to User Study

Would you be interested in participating in a user study? We are a team at University of Washington studying methods for finding collaborators within a Wikipedia community. We are looking for volunteers to evaluate a new visualization tool. All you need to do is to prepare for your laptop/desktop, web camera, and speaker for video communication with Google Hangout. We will provide you with a Amazon gift card in appreciation of your time and participation. For more information about this study, please visit our wiki page (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Finding_a_Collaborator). If you would like to participate in our user study, please send me a message at Wkmaster (talk) 09:54, 11 February 2014 (UTC).

As of January, the popular pages tool has moved from the Toolserver to Wikimedia Tool Labs. The code has changed significantly from the Toolserver version, but users should notice few differences. Please take a moment to look over your project's list for any anomalies, such as pages that you expect to see that are missing or pages that seem to have more views than expected. Note that unlike other tools, this tool aggregates all views from redirects, which means it will typically have higher numbers. (For January 2014 specifically, 35 hours of data is missing from the WMF data, which was approximated from other dates. For most articles, this should yield a more accurate number. However, a few articles, like ones featured on the Main Page, may be off).

Web tools, to replace the ones at tools:~alexz/pop, will become available over the next few weeks at toollabs:popularpages. All of the historical data (back to July 2009 for some projects) has been copied over. The tool to view historical data is currently partially available (assessment data and a few projects may not be available at the moment). The tool to add new projects to the bot's list is also available now (editing the configuration of current projects coming soon). Unlike the previous tool, all changes will be effective immediately. OAuth is used to authenticate users, allowing only regular users to make changes to prevent abuse. A visible history of configuration additions and changes is coming soon. Once tools become fully available, their toolserver versions will redirect to Labs.

If you have any questions, want to report any bugs, or there are any features you would like to see that aren't currently available on the Toolserver tools, see the updated FAQ or contact me on my talk page. Mr.Z-bot (talk) (for Mr.Z-man) 05:19, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

Leaflet For Wikiproject Ohio At Wikimania 2014

Hi all,

My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.

• Less known major projects: Wikinews, Wikidata, Wikivoyage, etc.

• Wiki Loves Parliaments, Wiki Loves Monuments, Wiki Loves ____

• Wikimedia thematic organisations, Wikiwomen’s Collaborative, The Signpost

For more information or to sign up for one for your project, go to: Project leaflets

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Motophoto

The article Motophoto has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No assertion of significance, and article fails to demonstrate WP:CORP criteria for inclusion.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~Amatulić (talk) 20:01, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject X is live!

Hello everyone!

You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Suggestion

Hello all! I was curious if anyone else thought it might be a good idea to make a (nonbinding) guideline on how all the individual US state WikiProjects should organize themselves, to help standardize them. I originally put this suggestion in the WikiProject United States talk page, so feel free to look there if you're interested. It's pretty empty though; basically all they said was to see what each of the individual projects thought about it. Please tell me if you have any concerns with this idea; hopefully we can find a way for everyone to love it! Also, I'm new at making proposals, so please forgive me if I do anything silly. :) Hope that you like this idea! JonathanHopeThisIsUnique (talk) 04:57, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

Hello, people of WikiProject Ohio. I've created this message to notify active members of the project, maybe to some who may live in Sandusky County or a nearby county, and who may know about the Clyde cancer cluster in Clyde, Ohio. Regardless of whether you do or don't live in that county or whether or not you've heard of the incident, if Ohio is an interest for you, you may be interested in this event. I have come to basically recruit editors for this article. It is definitely not a bad article. It just needs some small improvements. I'm not at all saying minor edits or improvements are bad, but I'm specifically looking for people who can help me long-term with a lot of co-research to improve the article to reach Good Article status. If you're interested in helping, the things needed to be improved are listed on Talk:Clyde cancer cluster#Improvements. In other words, more material needs to be added to improve the article, and I want more people to edit because I feel like I'm the sole editor. Regards, Philmonte101 (talk)

US 50,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject United States/The 50,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more states than they might otherwise work on. If there's the interest I will start 1000 State Challenges like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of states regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for the US and your specialist/home state like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every state, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any state sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Greetings WikiProject Ohio/Archive 4 Members!

This is a one-time-only message to inform you about a technical proposal to revive your Popular Pages list in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:

If the above proposal gets in the Top 10 based on the votes, there is a high likelihood of this bot being restored so your project will again see monthly updates of popular pages.

Further, there are over 260 proposals in all to review and vote for, across many aspects of wikis.

Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.

Best regards, SteviethemanDelivered: 18:05, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

Notice to participants at this page about adminship

Many participants here create a lot of content, may have to evaluate whether or not a subject is notable, decide if content complies with BLP policy, and much more. Well, these are just some of the skills considered at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship.

So, please consider taking a look at and watchlisting this page:

You could be very helpful in evaluating potential candidates, and even finding out if you would be a suitable RfA candidate.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Lubrizol edit request

I am posting here to reach editors interested in editing articles about Ohio-based companies. I made an edit request at Lubrizol to replace the article's About section with this draft. I have discussed my draft with Devopam on the Lubrizol Talk page, but we could benefit from another look. I have a conflict of interest as I work for The Lubrizol Corporation. Can an editor, or editors, review the draft, as well as the discussion on the Lubrizol Talk page? Lz maor (Talk · COI--Lubrizol employee) 21:25, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

We – Community Tech – are happy to announce that the Popular pages bot is back up-and-running (after a one year hiatus)! You're receiving this message because your WikiProject or task force is signed up to receive the popular pages report. Every month, Community Tech bot will post at Wikipedia:WikiProject Ohio/Archive 4/Popular pages with a list of the most-viewed pages over the previous month that are within the scope of WikiProject Ohio.

We've made some enhancements to the original report. Here's what's new:

  • The pageview data includes both desktop and mobile data.
  • The report will include a link to the pageviews tool for each article, to dig deeper into any surprises or anomalies.
  • The report will include the total pageviews for the entire project (including redirects).

We're grateful to Mr.Z-man for his original Mr.Z-bot, and we wish his bot a happy robot retirement. Just as before, we hope the popular pages reports will aid you in understanding the reach of WikiProject Ohio, and what articles may be deserving of more attention. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at m:User talk:Community Tech bot.

Lubrizol edit requests 2017

Editors, my request for edits on the Lubrizol Talk page might interest WikiProject Ohio participants. With this request I ask editors to update the revenue and employee figures in the infobox and introduction. Here I ask editors to clean up the History section and add a paragraph that can replace potentially misleading material from Operations. Lastly, there is this request asking editors to include the number of Lubrizol facilities and offices to Operations. An editor had answered the last request, but it was reverted by another because I had used Lubrizol's website to verify the information. An additional voice would be helpful in reviewing that piece of the edit request. I work for Lubrizol and I am aware of my conflict of interest; can an editor, or editors, review the draft and move the edits into the live article if they are neutral and appropriately cited? Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Lz maor (Talk · COI--Lubrizol employee) 13:04, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

Who is currently active?

Hello everyone! I have joined this project and while I mostly contribute photographs I have lately been working on starting and improving several Ohio articles. New Member

Hello! My name is Colman2000, and I just joined WikiProject Ohio a few days ago. I am delighted to be a new participant in this fine WikiProject, and I would love to help out in any possible manner! I have loved Ohio since I was a kid, and this may be a funny reason, because I got interested in the state when it was discussed on the Little Bear episode Date With Father Bear. If you have any questions or concerns, any edits you think I should make, or if you want my honest opinion on an article or any edits that are made to any article regarding Ohio, please don't hesitate to leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for reading this message, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to participate in this wonderful WikiProject! Colman2000 (talk) 02:04, 4 January 2018 (UTC)

WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject

The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.

Portals are being redesigned.

The new design features are being applied to existing portals.

At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.

The discussion about this can be found here.

Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.

Background

On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.

There's an article in the current edition of the Signpost interviewing project members about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.

So far, 84 editors have joined.

If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.

If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.

Thank you.    — The Transhumanist   07:50, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

Draft TravelCenters of America article for review

Resolved

Hello! I'm seeking one or more editors to review an expanded and improved article for TravelCenters of America (TA), which I am submitting on behalf of the Westlake, Ohio-based company. There are several issues with the existing article, which I've outlined in more detail on the article's talk page. For those who may not be familiar, TA is the largest operator of truck stops and travel centers in the United States. I'm curious, are any WikiProject Ohio participants willing to come take a look at the expanded and updated "History" section I've proposed here? Thanks in advance for any help. Draft article for Aleris

Resolved

Hello! On behalf of Aleris, which is based in Beachwood, Ohio, I have drafted an expanded and improved Wikipedia article for community review. The existing article is outdated and has some problematic sourcing, so I've worked to provide a more complete and up to date overview of the company's products, history, and corporate affairs with appropriate sourcing. I do not edit articles directly because of my COI, and I'm seeking help from volunteers to review and implement the proposed draft. Interested WikiProject Ohio members can learn more at Talk:Aleris and view my draft here. Thanks for any assistance. Inkian Jason (talk) 18:09, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

Discovery Bridge vs. Broad Street Bridge, Columbus

A new stub was created for Discovery Bridge (Columbus, Ohio) during WikiConference North America. Request for information on WP1.0 web tool

Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma (talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

Are Wikipedia:WikiProject Ohio/Articles and its 30 subpages still useful to this project? The lists are extremely outdated, and it seems futile to try to maintain 30 separate lists. Update to peer review page

Hi all, I've boldly updated your project's peer review page (Wikipedia:WikiProject Ohio/Review) by updating the instructions and archiving old reviews.

The new instructions use Wikipedia's general peer review process (WP:PR) to list peer reviews. Your project's reviews are still able to be listed on your local page too.

The benefits of this change is that review requests will get seen by a wider audience and are likely to be attended to in a more timely way (many WikiProject peer reviews remain unanswered after years). The Wikipedia peer review process is also more maintained than most WikiProjects, and this may help save time for your active members.

I've done this boldly as it seems your peer review page is pretty inactive and I am working through around 90 such similar peer review pages. Please feel free to discuss below - please ping me ({{u|Tom (LT)}}) in your response.

Cheers and hope you are well, Tom (LT) (talk) 22:47, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

Sherwin-Williams article updates

Hi, my name is Mira and I am the employee representative for Sherwin-Williams here on Wikipedia. I posted a request on the Sherwin-Williams talk page to hopefully work with editors to make improvements to the article while following the site's guidelines for editors like me with a conflict of interest. As an employee, I will refrain from editing the article and related articles directly. I won't list my full request here, but you may review it on the Sherwin-Williams talk page.

I posted as well to WikiProject Cleveland, as the company is based there, which led me here as well to see if there may be any interested editors.

Please let me know if this is the preferred way for a conflict of interest editor like myself to best collaborate with editors! I welcome your questions and feedback if they arise. Thanks in advance! MiraSherwin-Williams (talk) 21:57, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

User script to detect unreliable sources

I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like

  • John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.)

and turns it into something like

It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.

The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.

Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.
