Stub template

Hi all - we at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting have noted that you have created a stub template - without going through the standard procedures for proposal and debate prior to its creation. If you had, you would have made the stub template and category names conform with stub naming conventions. The template has been moved to the new name, and a category has been created at a name which also follows these naming guidelines (your original stub didn't have a category - just a redlink). In future, if you want further stub templates and categories, we'd appreciate it if you'd follow stub creation guidelines and propose them at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals for debate prior to creation. It is likely that at some point in the future there will be enough NH geography stubs for a separate category. At present there are close to the threshold number - this is how WP:WSS keeps track of when a new template is viable, so please double-stub any geography stubs relating to NH with both your new stub template and {{US-northeast-geo-stub}}. S'alright. there's a little bit of bureaucracy with stub templates, otherwise we end up with literally hundreds of different overlapping stub categories. One advantage for you with our standard naming is that you'll have one less character to type for the template :) Grutness...wha? 07:14, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

Question

I'm thinking of making an 2004 state election page, with local races similiar to the box at Dawson Creek, British Columbia below(just with two parties). However, that'd be alot of work. I found a website that had a comprehensive list of the NH Historical Markers. I don't know if there is already an article about the Historical Markers or even if we need one. Maps

The below is the conversation that took place on adding maps to municipalities articles in New Hampshire on the WP:NH Project page:
In the Infobox Template:Infobox Town NH, there is a place for an image showing the town's place in the state. Can someone advise the rest of us on creating such images?

They're not a big deal. Here's what I did.
  1. Copy and Paste the map at Concord, New Hampshire into a graphic editor(Microsoft Paint, Photoshop, etc.)
  2. Cut the "dot" and then place it over where the town/city is
  3. Save it as a .JPG or .PNG
  4. Upload the file
  5. Place it in that area in the infobox.

Once my GIS skills are past where they are now(rudimentary), i'll do more. karmafist 22:01, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Villages

We should improve the articles on the major villages. These places often have an identity seperate from their "parent" town(s).

This subcategory is a good idea, but probably could use a different name. Under NH law, villages have a special standing--they're called "village districts," and are formed for specific purposes, such as to maintain a water or sewer system. But the more I think about it, the less able I feel to come up with a better alternative. Perhaps a note in this section distinguishing these "villages" from formal districts?
