Wikiproject pictureThe following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion. I think we should really just stick to the picture of U2, they're iconically Irish and symbolise the most well known Irish act in the world. I feel the harp is really unneccessary there and detracts from the page. Perhaps it could be inserted somewhere else?

FYI, I've asked Bell X1 to be retargetted to Bell X-1 at WP:RFD. 76.66.194.183 (talk) 04:17, 22 October 2009 (UTC) Redirect noteFight Like Apes Live At The Eurosonic has now been redirected to the band. --candle•wicke 03:40, 30 December 2009 (UTC) Infobox noteNoting that an IP has altered "origin" in the infobox of several bands, e.g. The Saw Doctors article now claims they are from the city of Galway instead of Tuam. A matter to investigate later. --candle•wicke 01:10, 3 January 2010 (UTC) Hiatus
The Duckworth Lewis Method article is in the past tense and it says they are on hiatus. The Blizzards article is in the present tense and they too are on hiatus. One must be incorrect? --candle•wicke 02:48, 14 January 2010 (UTC) "City of Blinding Lights" FACHello all, I would just like to inform you that "City of Blinding Lights" is currently undergoing an FAC. I was told the last time that an article I nominated failed to be promoted that in future I should "aggressively recruit music editors to review [the] FAC". I'm not looking for votes, only for feedback, and I thought that posting this notification on the relevant subject's talk page (since the WikiProject is now inactive) would be the best way to go about that; I apologize if I have done so incorrectly. A similarly-worded notification has also been placed at WT:SONGS and Talk:U2. Cheers, MelicansMatkin (talk, contributions) 00:45, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you. :D --candle•wicke 02:52, 15 May 2010 (UTC) WikiProject scope and Irish Traditional MusicI think there's a major point of ambiguity regarding the scope of this WikiProject. Does it, or does it not include, topics relating to the genre "Irish Traditional Music", to the point of including musicians who play within the "ITM" genre, but have never resided in Ireland, and may not have any Irish lineage? If not, where is the distinction made? Example: I recently created a Joanie Madden article. She plays ITM, is Irish-American, and has won musical competitions in Ireland. Yet, she's a lifetime New Yorker. Does her article fall in the scope of this project? Dereksmootz (talk) 18:24, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
A request for inputCould someone knowledgeable weigh in on the discussion at Talk:Uilleann_pipes#Etymology? Thank you. Corvus cornixtalk 00:56, 12 February 2011 (UTC)
Vicar Street: Suggestions?I'm looking at the Vicar Street article when I get time (which hasn't been for a long while!), just wondering if anyone could offer any constructive criticism on it over on its Talk page or here. I know it needs work, just trying to think of what the next most important information to work towards should be — It's been given a rating by the Irish music project (Start), so thought you might have some ideas? =) Cheers, Dave (talk) 21:40, 14 October 2011 (UTC) Ready to publish?I am in doubt about my article about Nell Galvin. I think she will pass WP:GNG but the sourcing is a bit weak. For more sources I have to hit a library and an archive, but this season is not the best for it. Would you consider it ready for publishing? Night of the Big Wind talk 20:29, 20 December 2011 (UTC) Anyone interested in these articles?Would anyone be interested in chipping in on the following articles? Mary Dillon, At First Light, John McSherry (musician), Cathie Ryan, Eithne Ní Uallacháin or Karan Casey? :-) Filastin (talk) 01:32, 10 November 2012 (UTC) Vital articlesThere is a discussion occuring here regarding which music articles should be deemed vital to the Wikipedia project. As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC) WikiProject X is live!Hello everyone! You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you! Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X. Harej (talk) 16:57, 14 January 2015 (UTC) Altan stuffWould anyone care to comment at Talk:Altan (band)#Timeline? I made and explained what was intended to be constructive improvements to the article's timeline, which were reverted with no reason given (as of now, the other editor has at least responded at the above section). I'd like to hear from other interested editors. Thanks! --Fru1tbat (talk) 23:45, 12 August 2015 (UTC) Template:Irish musicHere I am in discussion about the move of Template:Irish music to Template:Music of Ireland. The explanation"parallelism" says absolutely nothing to me and I also fail to see any prior discussion about the move. In the discussion the mover clearly focuses on the people, not on the playing style. It would be handy when more people get involved in this discussion. Robman94 (talk) 19:29, 18 September 2020 (UTC) User script to detect unreliable sourcesI have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like
and turns it into something like
It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}. The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed. Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable. This is a one time notice and can't be unsubscribed from. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories. However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new The Mary Wallopers and AnglophobiaHi all, I'm just dropping this message on all of the WikiProjects associated with The Mary Wallopers. An IP editor has been repeatedly adding a line to the article describing their musical style as Anglophobia. I have been repeatedly removing these inclusions as I do not believe the source a) is reliable enough or b) discusses the supposed Anglophobia in sufficient detail to warrant its inclusion. There is an active Talk Page discussion which both myself and the IP editor have commented on today. I would value your input either way on this discussion as I really just want to stop edit warring with this other user. Thanks. Xx78900 (talk) 23:39, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
Review requested on draft article Draft:Ispíní na hÉireannHello trad fans, I've submitted Draft:Ispíní na hÉireann to Articles for Creation and would be grateful if editors could review it for appropriateness to be moved to mainspace, and secondly run it through citation bot to convert the bare URLs to proper references. Thanks! 2620:0:1040:20:3C5B:2B3F:A471:B68F (talk) 11:26, 30 July 2024 (UTC) Good article reassessment for Lisa HanniganLisa Hannigan has been nominated for a good article reassessment.
