Incorrect entry
User:Kkm010 added an entry into the history log of the Wikipedia India Collaboration of the Month. The page is for recording the details of the collaborative improvements not for nominations. Accordingly, I am reverting the good faith edit. Nominations may be done here and the Collaboration article of the month is selected by the community by majority voting. Hello friends, unfortunately sickness & hospitalisation kept me away during the year-end so we could not complete INCOTM choice for Jan. Since this is now redundant, I suggest we select one for Feb 2015 directly.
What are your thoughts about this?
languages of India has improved greatly. What is still pending though is the addition of one paragraph worth of interesting facts about our leading languages. Please help out in this regard so that the article is materially improved since we took it up. AshLin (talk) 14:24, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Prizes
This INCOTM is an important project. User:AshLin and I were discussing if we should introduce small prizes here. Generally we don't give incentives for various reasons, but it might be a good option here. Of course a special barnstar may be given and what else? Ideas? Suggestions? Post-cards, WikiProject India notepad, WikiProject India pen?
I am unable to think anything very big at this moment. Perhaps we should proceed slowly. In addition, over-all recognition board is a topic of WT:INB. I can tell you that "incentives" is a problematic area and must be used carefully. --Tito Dutta (talk) 10:04, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm thinking about pens or keychains, with a logo of Wikimedia Foundation in them. Simple, attractive yet not costly. Best, JimCarter12:27, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Re-initiating the collaboration
I see that it has almost been an year, since this project active. Firstly I wish to restart this as soon as possible. First thing I've done is clean up of members page, where many of them are inactive. I am sending a mass message to all the members of WikiProject India, about this and editors interested will sign up. After this we'll wait for 7 days before we start a discussion under this thread. The discussion will include what to clean-up, a new set of guidelines for smooth and uninterrupted function of the collaboration etc. Please keep all the discussions under this thread only, so that it will easier for reference. Hi guys, I see a lot many users adding their names, that is a good sign. OK, now let's get on something serious. This project has been dormant for the past one year. I would like to restart the project as this would be the best opportunity to develop India-related articles to the top notch.
First I would like to archive all the subpages—the nominations page, history page and reports page. I would like to set a bot for this task.
Apart from this we'll need to have two coordinators to organize the project.
we'll have two articles per month
And how will these articles be selected. The elected coordinators will propose some 6–8 articles for the month and voting will taken for the selection. These ten articles will be taken from the articles marked as top—importance. We'll make sure that we'll be helping the editors till the article reaches FA/FL.
Another important thing I would like to discuss is, regarding the awarding the contributors. I would like to discuss the idea of small grant for awarding gift vouchers to the top contributor of each article (₹ 500/- voucher each). I welcome the members to discuss this idea. And the respective contributor will have the right to the take the respective article through further reviewing processes FAC, FLC etc.
Members who wish to coordinate, please add your usernames, after a week we'll have the voting. The nominees, please mention your contributions in a short para. Please don't vote for the candidates until the voting starts. Don't for a sub-section for each candidate, that would make the contents long. Just use, ;[[User:ExampleName]]
I've been contributing since December 2014, mostly working in the Indian military history domain, I have over 12,000 global edits. I hold the credit of 1 featured list, 5 A-class articles, 1 good topic (first good topic from Indian military history), 11 good articles and 16 DYKs. My rights include Extended confirmed, Pending changes reviewer, AutoWikiBrowser, Mass message sender, Page mover, Rollbacker, New page reviewer. I was awarded the title of Military history newcomer of the year for 2016, and was the Featured Wikimedian of the Month, Wikimedia India Chapter, for January 2017.
Putting this message out here, at the suggestion of User:Titodutta, to seek collaboration and/or any assistance any of you could offer with regards to two pages: Nawabs of Bengal and Murshidabad and the Bengal Sultanate. Aiming to better the quality of the former to satisfy the criteria of possible future FA nomination and the latter to the quality required for a possible GA nomination. I had worked on the former and helped promote it to a GA in 2012, but given schedule with regards to school and personal life I do not see being able to work on these two alone.
