ProductionVaadai Kaatru, based on the novel of the same name by Sengai Aaliyan,[2] is the debut film for Manoharan in a leading role.[3][4] The film was shot in the sand dunes of Pesalai in 1977.[1][5] Release and receptionVaadai Kaatru was released on 30 March 1978,[1] and won the Presidential Film Award for Best Story.[3] In retrospect, Sri Lankan-born journalist D.
