Mike Tomlin

My goal is to standardize all of the entries for NFL head coaches, beginning with the current ones. Hence my addition to Tomlin's page, which I have recently standardized for every current coach except Bill Belichick (His entry has a substantial section, and I don't want to undermine it before setting up some standard first). I'm certainly willing to concede that Mike Tomlin does not have an influential or lengthy coaching tree considering his young career. I think, however, it is notable to see who head coaches previously served under, and which of their assistants have become head coaches. I would propose that the lists remain on all pages, and that further explanation be included on those coaches for whom it is relevant (Bill Belichick, Tony Dungy, Bill Parcells, etc.). Anyone other than the article's author can remove these tags. This indicates there is some indication the subject is notable, and that it's not a clear case. The next step would be discussion. Happy New Year

I think the key words you used were "got away with". I notice the Dez Bryant article is A-okay, and the speedy nom was declined. Just because someone gets away with something doesn't mean it's a good idea. If speedy deletion is contested you can certainly take it to wp:AfD. I would suggest following the advice of good faith editors who steer you right, rather than imitating things that seem shady. I don't think there's a hard and fast rule about re-adding a speedy tag, but it's kind of bad form when it's contested, because it's a clear indication that it's not a clear case which is the whole basis for a speedy deletion. Explanation

Why did you remove the changes I made to the Brian Dawkins' entry? I think the fact that he's the longest tenured athlete in Philadelphia is a relevant point, one which is easily verifiable, well-known in the Philly area but not outside of it, and is an interesting piece of information that deserves to be on the page --- in other words, exactly the sort of thing you'd find on wikipedia. Please explain. Surely the reason can't be that there is too much information on the page --- check out the Ed Reed entry by comparison. If you wanted to change the wording of it or relocate it to another portion of the article, then fine --- but to delete it entirely is unnecessary.Stoops Mike (talk) 18:55, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Understood, but the page is pretty clear on the fact that he is deceased. Half the page is dedicated to discussion of his death. So, the infobox lists his game against the A's as his last ML appearance, because it was his last appearance. However, he's still listed on the team roster until they take whatever step they need to take to remove his name. It's the same, in this respect, as when a team signs a free agent, makes a trade, or releases a player. We need to wait until he's removed from their roster (which will happen soon enough) before we remove the roster navbox and Angels from the infobox. --Muboshgu (talk) 20:00, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

I don't dislike you; he's not on the Twins' 40 man roster. Saying he is in his infobox is inaccurate. I also don't see why you feel a need to lift his career highlights from his infobox and sectionalize the article into one sentence sections.

You kinda lost me a little. I'm not an expert on the Wikipedia thing, but if a navbox is more appropriate than the template, then fine. Change it. Right now, I have the template on all existing Miracle players, but if you correct Revere's, I'll copy it and paste it on the pages of the other players in place of what is there. My thinking is that breaking up the article into sections or not is a matter of style. In my opinion, Revere's article is a borderline stub, and thus too short to necessitate breaking up into sections, however, I'm not the end all final authory on his or anyone else's article.--Johnny Spasm (talk) 19:14, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Lawrence Timmons

OK, please quit reverting the edits I'm making. Most other famous people that have kids have it noted on their Wikipedia page, and the source I had it from is from Timmons's official web site.

As for his middle name, which has been left alone (for once, and thank you), the only reason there's not a source to that was because it was mentioned during a playoff game this past year that his middle name is Olajuwon and I can't find anything listed.

Yeah, about that. I have sources. This source confirms Uncle Murda leaving, this confirms Freeway leaving and this confirms Memphis Bleek leaving. These prove that they have left Roc-A-Fella, even though they are still affiliated with Roc-A-Fella, they are NOT on the roster anymore. Stats

Hi. I've notices that you've been acting as a sort of gatekeeper for stats on the infoboxes, and was wondering why, as in the Pir Traynor article, we should not include a Triple Crown category stat (in HR) or a stat where he is on the top 500 list? There is room for 6 stat categories for each infobox, what is the reason, other than personal aesthetics and preference, for non-inclusion. Actually, that's a slight misrepresentation of what the template doc says... it says, referring to the first stat line, "the most important statistic for evaluating this player. Will vary according to what the player is most well-known for." This obviously refers only to the first stat line. The only other guidance is on the stat2 line, "another statistic (up to six can be used--in exceptional cases!)." So my questions still stands, since the "mot important" standard applies only to the first stat line, I don't see the reason why to exclude a Triple Crown category and a stat where the player is ranked on the all-time list article. Thanks, and I appreciate you saying as much. My take is that the stat listings should not automatically default to what is most favorable to the player (though I don't view Trayor or Alou not hitting a ton of HRs as a negative, by default). I think the inclusion of thos stats, especially Triple Crown stats, help a casual reader see the type of player they were. Also, just seeing that more than three stats are often used for active players, there are often just three used for retired players because the old "retired" infobox had only three spots. Why I added the Billy Mays hatnote back in

Looking at traffic statistics, it seems that the number of views on Willie Mays jumped suddenly from under 1000 per day to over 16000. And you can see on Talk:Willie Mays that at least a few people didn't realize that it was Billy Mays who had died even after coming to this article and seeing nothing. (The response explaining the confusion was added a few hours after the rest.) I think that for the meantime at least it is a good idea to leave the hatnote in. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 01:55, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
