Hello, Wei4Green. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. When you say that you support or oppose a proposal on Wikipedia, you should generally say why you have that opinion. Pewdiepie streak ended

Actually you should revert your edit because for more than 12 hours daily from 25th March T-Series is leading, that’s a majority of a day. So PewDiePie’s streak is ended. If you say that T-Series should lead for 1 day or more to break PewDiePie’s streak, than even PewDiePie is unable to maintain his 24 hour streak for almost a month. Why don't you do it consistently then? There are lots of similar links left:

  • formation (of cabinet)
  • tax cuts
  • tariffs
  • family separation
  • national emergency

  • wall
  • cannabis

The thing is, all these, and the ones you reverted, are inside parentheses. Inside parentheses, you only initcap where there's a full sentence.

So, will you self-revert?

Initcap means capitalizing the first (initial) letter of a word. If you're not so familiar with English – which your username suggests – you don't revert other users on grammar or style. My cite names are script-generated for the most part, and it's done with one mouse-click. My convention is Domain_name+[string of 6-10-digit number inside the url] or, if there is no such string: yyyymmdd+Domain_name. I use strings without spaces to avoid using quote marks. In fact, because they are only visible in edit mode, and there's no naming convention, it doesn't really matter what the cite names are so long as they are unique in the page in question. They are based on regexes. It searches for strings and replaces them with any predetermined element, which may be variable or fixed, or a combination. My script that names citations is here. English Wikipedia unblocked in China?

Hi, it seems that from yesterday evening (China time) the English Wikipedia has been unblocked in China? I live in China, and starting from last night I was able to access enwiki without a VPN. I got suckered in this JFK and later RFK thing even though Im not American and the article on Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is kinda a complete mess.

I've done more and more research on it and basically its been in a on and off edit war since 2021 i not longer that has intensified as of late due to his presidency.

I'm getting all sorts of conflicting advice on the topic and it's not easy to navigate. But as you see it's already gone hostile and probably there's not much to do with the talk page. Ultimately it will become some sort of dispute I think.

I got some reasonable advice in the Village Pump but im still waiting for people to post some policy/sources/precedence that I can actually use so its not just "opinion" against "opinion".


The article overall has evolved into one that's less and less balanced and far more pushy in one direction, especially in the introduction. People in the village pump are suggesting I that giving space for broad views in articles regarding BLPs is a good thing and that a persons on statements on controversial issues are a welcome thing. But its not being welcomed, at least by the three people who have replied to me so far. See the articles history, browse a bit through it and see how it used to be in like 2022 or 2021 if you want. Its changed a lot. There's also a discrepancy between the introduction for RFK JR and that of Biden and Trump. Bidens very well known for his cognitive decline. [1] [2] [3]The latter link describes it as the elephant in the room. Yet it's not mentioned anywhere in the article, let alone at the introduction. Trump is well known for his legal troubles and the civil litigation's against him yet is only mentioned at the end of the introduction after about 15 sentences. For RFK his most controversial issue is the thing the article leads with and to a large extent focuses on. I dont object to it being there but I would like to add some balance to it. There's also very little focus on what kind of Covid 19 conspiracy theories RFK pushed. (For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si5Nv9R2Vlo) One of the main ones he constantly went on about was that there was a coverup either by the chinese or by Faucci and the Chinese of a possible lab leak of the virus. Something that was labeled as an outrageous conspiracy theory early on but that now is gaining more and more traction on the mainstream press and in scientific publications. That would serve as a bit of balance and "vindication" for some (but certainly not all) of his skepticism and conspiracy theorizing and lessen the POV-pushing of the negative connotations that exist with being associated conspiracy theories or misinformation. [4] I'd like to say balance the introduction with things like this too while keeping the parts that are critical of him as well.


I see that you're both involved in US politics, in biographies of living people and youre interested in recent presidential races so maybe you can help. You are invited to the picnic anyone can edit on Roosevelt Island, at Southpoint Park.

Following up on this month's Wikimania in Poland, this Wiknic will have as guest of honor User:DerHexer, the 2024 Wikimedia Laureate of the Year, marking his triumphant North American tour!

Bring a picnic blanket and some potluck, as well as some sunscreen! We'll also provide a little something for everyone, but we encourage you to bring your own favorite dishes to share, especially for those food cultural topics you would like to improve on Wikipedia.

We'll also do a portal thing for a bit with West Coast friends at the WikiLA ocean life edit-a-thon.

All are welcome, new and experienced!

Sep 25: Wikimedia NYC Annual Election Meeting (plus Latin music event on Sep 21!)

September 25: Annual Election & Members Meeting

You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our Annual Election & Members Meeting, with in-person at Prime Produce in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, as well as an online-based participation option.

The Members' Meeting is similar to other WikiWednesday meetups, except that its primary function is to elect a new Board of Directors. We will elect three board seats, half of the elected seats on the board. After being elected, those elected can potentially appoint more seats.

We will also focus on the Wikimedia NYC Strategic Plan, our Financial Report, and Annual and Monthly event teams for the coming year.

Election info:

  • To run for election or to vote, you must be a dues-paying member of Wikimedia New York City, having renewed in the past 12 months.
  • Voting will be both online, via emailed ballots from the ElectionBuddy service, and in-person.
  • The poll will be open for the 48 hours between 8pm EDT on September 23 and 8pm EDT on September 25.

You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for the "Editing to the Beat" event of the beginner-focused Wikicurious series at Lehman College. This is the second event of the series, following the inaugural event at Civic Hall in July. Led by a 9-person live band demonstrating Caribbean and Latin musical genres, we'll engage with efforts such as WikiProject Latin Music, and will encourage editing on both English and Spanish Wikipedia. All are welcome, and newcomers and aspiring editors are especially encouraged to attend. Registration via Eventbrite is required for building entry, and is also encouraged on the event page on Meta.

This event, held by our chapter in collaboration with Pratt and Girls Who Code, will be our third annual celebration of Wikidata Day. It will feature spotlight sessions, lightning talks, and the customary Wiki-cake, while those unable to attend in person will be able to watch a livestream.

You are also invited to Wikicurious: Capturing the Moment, the third event of the beginner-focused Wikicurious series, at Jefferson Market Library on Tuesday, November 26, in collaboration with WikiPortraits and AfroCROWD. All are welcome to attend, especially those interested in photography or contributing to Wikimedia Commons. We will explore the art of capturing the moment through photography and learn the basics of Wikimedia Commons, and (weather-permitting) we are also planning a photo walk, so bring your camera (or use your smartphone)!
