Claimed descents and legends of origins can still be mentioned in an article, if an acceptable citation is provided. Rohilla Rajputs

I would ask you to go through the following points

1. please search "Rohilla Taank" on google and you will find enormous links that establish the fact that taank is absolutely congenital with Rohilla.

2. After a thorough study, you will find that "Rohilla" exists in both Hindu and Muslim caste in the same way "Malik", "Khatri" etc exist.

3. There is a image of a street name after Raja Ranveer Singh Rohilla, just because he had an established empire over there. please refer https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/89/Raja_ranveer_singh_rohilla_road_way.jpg (It is written in Hindi there.)

4. How relevant the references from books of James Tod are? Let me tell you, James Tod is one of the most eminent historian, whose name, you would always find whenever the pages from history of rajputana would be unfolded. His writings are the most reliable and authentic ones.

5. As you pointed out my friend in your supported comments,

Utkarsh, you are a veteran looking at the contributions you have made to wiki. Please understand, the page exists since 10 August 2009‎ and it has never been linked with Runwala, which would be a flaw, The page had fair number of relevant citations from text book, as it is a history and social topic, obviously, textbooks should be the authenticated ones. I request you to re authenticate the process you followed regarding deletion of the content and moving the page into an irrelevant and disconnected page and restore the original content.   • We don't go by Google results. Please see WP:RS. Websites like rohillataank.com/org or Facebook/Orkut pages are not acceptable sources by Wikipedia standards. There are literally hundreds of caste organizations' websites and social media pages claiming connections to everything from mythical kings to ancient tribes. A high number of Google results does not make these claims true.
  • Since you mentioned the Wikipedia article on James Tod, please have a closer look at the Reception section. Tod is regarded as an "authentic" and "eminent historian" by the certain castes he praised, but even among colonial historians, he had a "general reputation for inaccuracy" (to quote Michael W. Meister). His accounts are considered as extermely dubious and biased by mainstream historians. For example, he often connected important castes/tribes with foreign groups on basis of similar-sounding names, calling them tall and fair-skinned, and arguing that they could not be related to "dark, diminutive" Indians. People of these castes liked him a lot for such fawning praises that equated them to the Whites, but he is not widely respected among actual scholars. He belonged to a category of colonial historians whose speculative theories were aimed at "legitimizing their own colonizing invasion" (to quote Alf Hiltebeitel). Tod is not at all a reliable source. This has been discussed several times on Wikipedia (for an example, see Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 115#James Tod; the only user arguing in favour of using Tod is the now-blocked "Ror Is King", who was using Tod as a source to glorify the Ror community).
  • Irrespective of whether Tod is a reliable source or not, Wikipedia does not accept synthesis. Tod mentions "Tak" or "Tank", but doesn't even mention the term "Rohilla Rajput". That's also true for every single of the "fair number of relevant citations" that were present on the page. In fact, People of India (p. 945) only mentions a claimed Yaduvanshi origin for the Tak caste. The only mention of Rohillas in that book is on p. 823, for the Runwala caste. Similarly, you cannot connect the modern Tak caste to the 6th century dynasty solely on the basis of similar-sounding names. That is original research, and not acceptable here.
I don't doubt that "Rohila" surname exists among Rajputs. Please feel free to add content backed by acceptable sources. If you want to move the page to Tak caste, and re-add the content about the Tak community, please feel free to do so. If you have any acceptable sources that connect "Rohilla Rajputs" to Tak caste or "Taank dynasty", please feel free to add them to the article. Those sources cannot be material published by Rohilla Tank Kashtrya Sabha or rohillataank.com/org websites. They have to meet the WP:RS standards. utcursch | talk 14:29, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
@Utcursch, what you have done is deranged a balanced article. Does moving to some new community "Runwala" does justice with what the title of the article suggested quintessentially. I don't think so. I made a lot of efforts to read through plenty of books, esp Tod(I understand, you say it's debatable) to make the article as eclectically possible as I could. I keep writing and patrolling for vandalism on wiki, so I am well aware of what relevant sources and citations mean.
  • I would ask you to have a look on below links where not only would you find all the keywords- Rohilla, Raja Ranveer Singh Rohilla, difference from Afgan Rohilla [Please note- Afgan rohilla has very very famous community and this is the reason the page "Rohilla" on wiki is already dedicated to them, they fought one of the war that was a turning point in Indian history and Hindu Rohilla who were forcibly migrated from Afghanistan[read Kabul_Shahi or hindu shahi ie. rule of Hindu kings till 700 AD in Afghanistan] and Raja Naurang Deb who was also a Rohilla king from "Chauhan" dynasty(as most Rohillas are derived from) and king of "Sahawar"]. A lot of Hindu Rohilla have also been forcibly converted to Muslim which is again a debatable issue. The next way open to me will only be to ask wiki admins for "WP:RPP" or to go for arbitration for justice. I request you to think again with all your great intellect, how important it is to place the detail of the hindu community as juxtaposed with Muslim one, same is there in other caste like:
  • Hindu Malik and Muslim Malik (Malik more popularly is found as Muslim)
  • Hindu Butt and Muslim Butt
  • Hindu Rana and Muslim Rana
  • Hindu Chaudhary and Muslim Chaudhry etc.
As you seem to hold huge knowledge about the history of Rajputana and others in India, and I appreciate that, I hope you will do justice with the original topic "Rohilla Rajputs" and help the community make their page more robust in future, Thanks a lot.

@Friend.hey: It was not a "balanced" article. It was original research/synthesis backed-up by fake references that escaped verification from other editors for several years.
I moved the article to Runwala, because that's the only Rajput group that the citations in the article linked Rohillas to. Like I said, if you intended to write an article about the Tak caste, feel free to move the article to Tak caste, and restore content selectively. If you want to write an article about "Rohilla Rajputs", please feel free to do so with reliable sources -- I've no problem with that.
The PDF linked on sites.google.com or docs.askiven.com is not acceptable as a self-published source.
I read the "Sahawar" (p. 107) entry from the The imperial gazetteer of India. It doesn't even mention the term "Rohilla", leave alone "Rohilla Rajput".

@Utcursch Please refer Pandit Gauri Shankar Ojha’s “History of Rajputana”, also one of the books used in college curriculum(MA in History). In History of Rajputana Volume-1 Dr. Ojha refers Rohillas in Marwar. (Volume 1), Page 166:"Mandor is.." "Harish Chandra who was a scholar of Sanskrit. He was Pratihar or Viceroy of the place. His title was “Rohil Ladhi” ." Can you please take the initiative to trim and clean the data on the page Rohilla_Rajputs and leave only the data that you find relevant according to WP:SCHOLARSHIP and WP:RS. Primary source are not that much reliable as secondary ones like text books are for history articles. Since the page has been reviewed many times earlier also, so some of the references can still be counted upon. Thanks. I shall try to collect all the available bookmarks that you might have missed in the same citation list, that were provided in the article and even were reviewed as well by many other admins. Or for less reliable source/ weak citation, [citation needed] citation needed can be put. Thanks, if you could do that. The "Rohilladhi" title of Harichandra of Pratihara dynasty has nothing to do with the "Rohilla Rajputs" of your article. Harichandra of Mandor Pratihara branch (whom Ojha calls "Harishchandra") is mentioned in a couple of inscriptions. These inscriptions state that he was called "Rohilladhi", and make it clear that he was a Brahmin. His second wife Bhadra was from a Kshatriya family, and their sons are said to have founded the Mandor Pratihara branch. Harichandra himself was neither a "Rohilla", nor a "Rajput". He was a Brahmin who lived in 6th century CE, when the Rohillas had not even emerged as a community.
Ojha's book is available online. It doesn't mention anything about Rohillas on page 166. It just states that Harishchandra was a Brahmin, who was also known as "Rohilladhi".
Any attempt to connect "Rohilladhi" title with the Rohillas is just bad original research. One might as well argue that Bimbisara was related to Bimbians, Perunarkilli was related to Peruvians, and Ganda was related to Ganda people.

Please put light on why Harichandra was a king when he was a pure brahmin. He ruled on behalf of some Rohilla king, that is why, his title was "Rohil Ladhi". After migration from "Roh Desh", the rohilla rajputs got displaced and snubbed to regions of Marwar. @Friend.hey: There is no evidence that Harichandra was a king. His four sons from a Kshatriya wife captured Mandavyapura (Mandor) and built a rampart there. Out of these four sons, Rajilla's descendants were members of the Mandor Pratihara dynasty. (By the way, there are several instances of Brahmin kings; e.g. Pushyamitra Shunga).
Anyway, that's not my bone of contention here. If a book by a reliable historian states that Harichandra was a Rohilla Rajput, I'd have no problem with that being stated in the article. The problem here is that your sources either don't mention "Rohilla Rajputs" at all, or are unreliable.
As for "Rohil Ladhi", you are just regurgitating the pseduo-historical claims from the publications of Rohilla Tank Kashtrya Sabha and its affiliates. Caste organizations in India are notorious for conjuring up pseudo-history, connecting themselves to everything from epic heroes to historical dynasties. Jat pseudo-historians claim that Jats killed Alexander the Great; Kushwaha pseudo-historians claim that Mauryan emperor Ashoka was a Kushwaha; Kapu pseudo-historian historians claim that Krishnadevaraya was a Kapu and so on. There are thousands of X Jati ka Itihas, XYZ Garima, Prachin XYZ Vanshavali etc.
There is a reason why Wikipedia has WP:RS guidelines: we don't accept such nonsense. The claim that Harichandra he ruled on behalf of "some Rohilla king" is absurd: Rohillas did not even exist as a community in 6th century, leave alone as a political power with vassals. Rohillas rose during the Mughal era; Daud Khan was granted some territory by Muhammad Shah around 1737 CE.

@Utcursch: pushyabhuti shunga, he was a traitor, who killed the last mauryan emperor with treachery. sir, he is also responsible for huge revival of hinduism. At that time, jainism, budhism and aajivika were prevalent. hindus were even in minority, he did mass persecution too, just to let Hinduism reemerge strongly, so did the four varnas- kshatriya, brahmin etc.
As I mentioned, being an erudite, you should put some light upon "what Rohil Ladhi" signifies and sth about literally its genesis?
As I mentioned, I will collect all the RS, and I am ready to accept even what you do with non relevant citations. I just wanted you to do justice with the genuine details cited with primary or secondary sources( history articles even Bindusara, Ashoka etc have accepted ambiguities because different compilations have different interpretations like Ashoka in jainism and budhism have!)

Please do not bring Afgan Rohilla in the topic just to suuport your facts, esp when you already have good knowledge of your niche domain. Hindu Rajput Rohilla is a recognized caste in Haryana's official caste gazette. Still I respect your knowledge but not undermine my sources. I will bring up authentic citations which would be in hindi, hope you will recognize. I was trying to connect with the new editor who created the page (they got a kind of rough welcome that was only marginally their fault), but they appear to edit in fits and starts, and haven't answered. Looking for a couple of 2nd opinions from you: first, how long would you leave it as is, before taking away the under construction tag? And second, I'm fairly sure species are presumed to pass GNG, but there is not much info at all in that article, and I can't find anything except 85 different versions of the same newspaper story. Decline of Buddhism in India

Hello, the decline of Buddhism in India page has been changed to Decline of Buddhism in South Asia. That is very much incorrect, as Bhutan and Tibet (in come cases considered South Asia) has Buddhism. Plus the article has nothing to do with Afghanistan, which the user claimed as reason for the change. Can you please revert it back to Decline of Buddhism in India or Indian subcontinent? I am not promoting anybody, but rather presenting the truth and facts. You cannot hide the facts, just simply being based on your views. You have just biased eyes on the famous singer like Mohammed Aziz. It seems that you don't like the article on him at all though I have cited my edits with so many references. It's up to you. Prithviraj

I noticed you have expanded and included other versions of Prithviraj Chauhan's death. Was there a reason why you have left out versions of Prithviraj's death by Satish Chandra and Pradeep Barua? Granted this is on the fringe(area-wise) of my "expertise"(if we would call it that).

And according to the Encyclopaedia of Islam, Vol VII, T.W. Haig, page 409, "He(Muhammad Ghori) was wounded, but escaped, and in 588/1191 returned to India, defeated and slew Prithwi Radj at Tarawri.".

Since I am not acquainted with it, is not Prithviraja-Prabandha simply another version of the Prithviraj-Raso? And if not, who wrote the Prithviraja-Prabandha? --Kansas Bear (talk) 06:30, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

Prithviraja-Prabandha is not same as Prithviraj Raso. It is one of the several books contained in Puratana-Prabandha-Sangraha compiled by the Jain scholar Jinavijaya Muni. Extended confirmed protection

Hello, Utcursch. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.

Second Battle of Anandpur

Dear Utcursch, Thank you for your message. I made the change and deleted the last paragraph of "Aftermath" on the page "Second Battle of Anandpur" as it contradicts the information provided. On the top of the page right column it says the Date of the battle is 1704 and the last paragraph "Aftermath" says that sometime after this battle,another battle of Nirmohgarh(1702) is fought. So, this battle fought in 1704 cannot be fought before the battle fought in 1702. Hence, i deleted the last paragraph. But, now with this i realise,and after reading the other pages of wikipedia,regarding the related pages,that i should have infact changed the date from 1704 to 1702 in top right hand column. A new user right for New Page Patrollers

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However,due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

Hi Utcursch. I have received an alert that my user name is on a page on the Hindi Wikipedia. I checked the link and my user name is on a page that looks something like a main page. I do not know what the Hindi characters (or letters) on the page mean or whether I should be concerned about this. I thought that perhaps you might know what, if anything to do about this. Thanks. I am reasonably sure I visited the Hindi Wikipedia to check on a link or compare some sort of change made in the English Wikipedia, without thinking in advance that I would be completely unable to read or interpret it. I have visited a few other non-English Wikipedias but I can read a little Spanish and can sometimes discern something in a few other languages. Again, thanks for clearing that up for me.
