So two reasons

WP:STRONGNAT allows for Canadian date formats to be either dmy or mdy. Both formats are commonly used in Canada. So the first common date format use, WP:DATERET, is used. That is why it is correctly using MDY. It wasn't a mistake. Your change has been reverted. Feel free to discuss on the article's talk page. Walter Görlitz (talk) 15:35, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

I read that, and yeah, I have a Canadian friend who once told me that they use the dd/mm/yyyy format. So why are you reverting all of my edits when you claim that you use the both formats? I checked with Google and understood that although both formats are allowed, the dd/mm/yyyy it's more widely used. — Tom(T2ME) 15:39, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
Date retention MOS:DATERET/WP:DATERET is the main reason. The dmy format is not more common, it is less common, but it's also not uncommon. In fact, ISO-8601 (YYY-MMM-DD) is common on cheques, and forms list which format to use. WP:STRONGNAT is now only related to language while MOS:DATETIES is the date format. Sorry for the confusion. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:05, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for the clarification. I never read those policies, I have to admit. I just wanted to help Canadian-related articles, that's all. No offense, cheers! — Tom(T2ME) 16:08, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
Not a problem. The first time I stepped into this whole mess (about seven years ago) I was shocked too. Thanks for helping. I think they're guidelines, not policies though. They have changed enough times that I don't even bother reading the top of the doc any longer. I hope I didn't offend or step on your toes. Just trying to help and I knew it was done in good faith which is I why I just reverted with a comment. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:28, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
No, absolutely not. Everything is fine. My personal opinion though, is that Canada should definitely decide (as a country) what format it should use. As a result of that I think it's gonna be a lot of easier for you guys and for us on Wikipedia. All the best! — Tom(T2ME) 16:33, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Tom. Those are just passing comments as I am not primed lately to do FAC review and major editing. Research more! Good luck on your FAC! --Efe (talk) 14:57, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Shame (Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow song), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Dave Miles. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Adele (21)

Okay. I'm sorry. Apparently the consensus is that 11x Platinum is > Diamond (which it technically is, and I see that point). But if she IS certified as Diamond, how is that not able to be reflected in the certification chart?

I mean, Diamond is an impressive certification ... why can't it be represented beside the 11x Platinum number? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ironywrit (talkcontribs) 16:43, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

Because it technically is certified past diamond and most of the people can see that. I don't see the need to be mentioned in the cert box, however, it can be (and I think it already is) mentioned in the prose. — Tom(T2ME) 16:49, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
Okay. Makes sense. This is one of the more confusing practices on Wikipedia, for me, and I don't often venture into pop-culture articles. Nathan (talk) 16:55, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

WikiCup 2016 is just around the corner...

Hello everyone, and we would like to wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2016 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. There are some changes we'd like to announce before the competition begins.

After two years of serving as WikiCup judge, User:Miyagawa has stepped down as judge. He deserves great thanks and recognition for his dedication and hard work, and for providing necessary transition for a new group of judges in last year's Cup. Joining Christine (User:Figureskatingfan) and Jason (User:Sturmvogel 66) is Andrew (User:Godot13), a very successful WikiCup competitor and expert in Featured Pictures; he won the two previous competitions. This is a strong judging team, and we anticipate lots of enjoyment and good work coming from our 2016 competitors.

We would also like to announce one change in how this year's WikiCup will be run. In the spirit of sportsmanship, Godot13 and Cwmhiraeth have chosen to limit their participation. See here for the announcement and a complete explanation of why. They and the judges feel that it will make for a more exciting, enjoyable, and productive competition.

The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. The judges are committed to not repeating the confusion that occurred last year and to ensuring that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Wikipedia.

If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. List of songs written by Gary Barlow

The present lists are for songs recorded Category:Lists of songs by recording artists and by and for songs written, Category:Lists of songs by songwriters. There are several reasons for this the main one being writing a song and performing a song are two totally unrelated acts. Now the question is where does you new list sit in WP. It sits nowhere because it serves no purpose, it is trying to mix chalk and cheese. I will let you think about this. Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 10:25, 3 January 2016 (UTC) PS: You could move your article to List of songs recorded by Gary Barlow - which would be a lot less confusing and more useful. Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 10:35, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

Richhoncho There is no need to be harsh right away. My list was supposed to merge the songs he recorded for himself (whenever he wrote or didn't have an involvement in the song; ex. "Love Won't Wait") and the songs he has written for other artists. The thing is, I completed most of the list when I realised that a list of songs he has written exists. But, if you want a consensus, I can move the list to songs just recorded by Barlow and the existing one for the ones he has written can stay (although IMO is a huge mess). Cheers! — Tom(T2ME) 10:40, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, that's a great solution. All articles are up for improvement in any event. I was put out a relatively successful list was turned into a redirect because you obviously thought your work was better. Apologies for harshness, all is resolved. --Richhoncho (talk) 10:43, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
Sorry for doing that. I didn't think my work was better, I just said that that list needs improving, for which if you want help I am always here to do some collaborative work :). My apologies too, have a great day! — Tom(T2ME) 10:45, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

Hey

Could you keep a look out on http://www.billboard.com/biz/current-boxscore for Mariah's All I Want For Christmas Is You, A Night of Joy & Festivity concerts, and if they put them up, add the info to the article and archive the link please? I'm going on holiday today. Have a nice Christmas!  — Calvin999 12:23, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

Hey, sure. I have so much going on in my real life right now, however, I hope I will remember to check it out from time to time. Where are you going? Thanks, Happy Christmas too! :) — Tom(T2ME) 16:43, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
We went to Chile, Argentina and Uruguay :)  — Calvin999 16:43, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Wow nice, I hope you've enjoyed it. I checked the link, they didn't publish Mariah's data yet :). — Tom(T2ME) 16:44, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Yeah it was really good thank you. How was your christmas?  — Calvin999 16:45, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
I still haven't celebrated lol. We celebrate it on 7 January, however I am an atheist so it's same for me haha. I've been to a few parties for NY though, it was pretty fun :)) — Tom(T2ME) 16:47, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Yeah it's more of a fun thing now than a religious thing haha  — Calvin999 17:08, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

Towards the Sun (song):

Hi, the text for Category:Songs by year reads "Songs written or first produced in XXXX." Your suggestion is that it was written AFTER it was recorded. --Richhoncho (talk) 13:09, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

And your add of the category is WP:CRYSTALBALL. How do you know it was written in 2014? Maybe they did in January 2015, since it was released in February 2015? — Tom(T2ME) 13:13, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
I was relying on your edit here where you added that the song was recorded in 2014! I also note you have now removed that recording date. The question is whether you have done this because you were wrong or to prove a point. No matter, it is a rhetorical question. --Richhoncho (talk) 13:29, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
Then do not bother come here and ask yourself rhetorical questions when you can do it in your head. And yes, my edit was maybe wrong back then, but now it's right; we don't have a reliable source about WHEN the song was recorded. I removed the category since it's needless in this kind of cases. — Tom(T2ME) 15:00, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

~

Don't swear. It's a song. --Richhoncho (talk) 15:19, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

WikiCup 2016: Game On!

We are about to enter the second week of the 2016 WikiCup. The most recent player to sign up brings the current total to 101 contestants. Signups close on 5 February. If you’re interested, you can join this year's WikiCup here.

We are aware that in some areas the scoring bot’s numbers are a little bit off (i.e., overly generous) and are working to have that corrected as soon as possible.--MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:04, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

Hey, do you want to pick this back up? Doesn't need much more work apart from a lead.  — Calvin999 18:03, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Calvin999 Sure, but we also need to add some more songs from Never Been Better. — Tom(T2ME) 18:23, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Yep.  — Calvin999 18:24, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Which ones needs to be added? Do you want to do those?  — Calvin999 22:18, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Okay, I am gonna figure out now. — Tom(T2ME) 22:27, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
What about the Never Been Better: Special Edition – bonus tracks? Stevie Knows, If I Stay etc.  — Calvin999 22:38, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
I just finished the 2014 edition of Never Been Better. About to add the 2015 ones. — Tom(T2ME) 22:44, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Cool :)  — Calvin999 22:48, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Ahhh he has so many songs!!! Just the features are left now (I believe, lol), however, I am a bit tired so I am gonna add the tomorrow morning. ;) — Tom(T2ME) 23:17, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Calvin999 I think all the songs are there now. We only need the lead and side pictures. — Tom(T2ME) 13:27, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
Okay cool. I can get to it in the next few days. For lead it would be good to have the creative direction for each album, if he has said in any interviews how each album has progressed.  — Calvin999 16:23, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Hey, I've finished the lead and nominated it at DYK so it's within time. Some B-sides still need to be added, and some pics, if you'd like to do those? I can't nominate it for FLC until my current one gets some more supports.  — Calvin999 20:31, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

Hey! Yeah, I read the lead it's pretty good, I was just wondering, can you somehow add a sentence that he collaborated with Robbie on "I Wan'na Be like You (The Monkey Song)"? I mean, he is his idol so it would be nice to be mentioned. I am gonna add pictures yes and try to search for the B-sides. — Tom(T2ME) 20:33, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Yeah you can add that if you like. Just go from each of his singles to the next and it shows if it had a B-side in the info box. I did his first few singles up until "Busy" I think.  — Calvin999 21:13, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Yup, I added all the B-sides I believe. — Tom(T2ME) 21:17, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Okay :)  — Calvin999 23:55, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
