The name looks familiar

Hi, don't know if it's just coincidence, or if you're this Tim Osborn. While there's certainly no complaint about your edits, you may wish to consider the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest guideline which strongly recommends that possibly involved editors declare their interests, both on their user pages and on the talk page of the related article they are editing. Dave Souza, incidentally, is one of the Good Guys active on the Wikipedia climate-change pages. Though we often have differing opinions on interpreting the science you professionals publish.... Plagiarism section at Hockey stick controversy

I just revised this section, including taking some suggestions you made at Edward Wegman. If you get a chance, could you look over this section and comment as appropriate. Actually, the whole article could use work, so your comments re that would also be most welcome. If you missed it, I also did some revisions along the same lines at Wegman's page.

By way of introduction: I'm a consulting geologist, based in northern Arizona and New Mexico. I earned a B.S. in geology and chemistry at Rice University, and a M.S. in geochemistry at UNC-C, (mumble) years ago. I've been interested in paleoclimates since student days, am well-read on the subject, and have considerable experience applying statistical analyses to geological data.

I hope you were able to avoid the worst of theClimategate unpleasantness. Though I gather that, at least in the case of Dr. Mann, some of this was arguably self-inflicted. Best wishes, Pete Tillman (talk) 21:36, 7 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to be a bit slow, have had a nasty cold for a few days, glad to have tested negative. Like all these rules, it tends to evolve and bring in new forms which I've not kept up with. WP:COIEDIT links to relevant forms for relevant article talk pages, which can be done by yourself, or one of us can do it. There's a different form if you get paid to edit. It looks a bit draconian, but the noticeboard more helpfully explains that "The COI guideline does not absolutely prohibit people with a connection to a subject from editing articles on that subject. Editors who have such a connection can still comply with the COI guideline by discussing proposed article changes first, or by making uncontroversial edits". Looking over your recent edits, they seem reasonably uncontroversial. Let me know if clarification /is needed, . dave souza, talk 21:33, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
