Sorry, it seems that the bot quit before completing its run last week. Here is the last two weeks' worth of Signpost. Ralbot (talk) 09:23, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Just wondering if you could take a look at this. Its overwelmingly been voted for deletion, i was just wondering if you could do the honours. thanks! Ironholds (talk) 15:41, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Hey! I think the IPA is still correct. The guy in the audio file is clearly stressing it on the second syllable.
In fact, I think to claim that words in Malayalam tend to have the stress on the first syllable is false and incredibly sweeping. Certainly this is not true of words that have long vowels in other syllables, e.g. malayaaLam where the stress is on the longest syllable (i.e. the third syllable, not the first). I would even say that a word like oru normally has its stress on the last syllable (again, not the first!).
Would you like me to post this on that talk page (without all the informal commentary)? (Or just keep it here? :-D)
By the way, I ended my last message with a reference to the Romani people article. Sorry to trouble you about it, but it's going through one of its difficult times again. In fact, this time the situation there is more serious than it ever has been.
Lately, a Romanian user Rezistenta (whose user name was originally Adrianzax) has been making very controversial edits to Romani-related articles. None of the regular editors of these pages seem to agree with these edits. He has also threatened some fellow Wikipedians, and for quite a while, almost everyone who normally would edit the Romani people article stayed away. (Even now, only a few of them have come back, and that too only briefly.)
As far as I know, this is the first time certain Wikipedians' lives have been threatened just because of their race (or cultural background) and opinions of Romani-related issues. It is also the first time I have even tried contacting ArbCom, per Jimbo's advice.
I'm not quite sure what to do about this, but could you maybe take a look at it sometime? And once again, I'm really sorry to bother you with this. I can e-mail you if you need any more information, and in that case, I will try to be as helpful as I can be. --Kuaichik (talk) 01:29, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

I added that link to contemporary Hyderabad since the page lacks anything on today's Hyderabad - it is mostly history and geography, and all the cliched stuff. I'd have written some of that stuff myself, but citations would be needed, so I put an external link. I think wiki should be reflective of the city holistically. Cheers, —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.96.96.94 (talk) 20:16, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Definitely! However, there are certain guidelines that Wikipedia editors have put forward regarding external links. Please see them listed here. As you can see, linking to commercial sites, such as the one you linked to, is not allowed. In the absence of this rule, you'd have tons of sites listed under the external link section, and a casual reader would find it difficult to identify any relevant links from among them. --thunderboltz(TALK)20:29, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Christianity Coordinators : The project coordinators are generally responsible for maintaining all of the procedural and administrative aspects of the project, and serve as the designated points-of-contact for procedural issues. They are not, however, endowed with any special executive powers, nor with any authority over article content or editor conduct. The Lead Coordinator bears overall responsibility for coordinating the project; the Assistant Coordinators aid the Lead Coordinator and focus on specific areas that require special attention.
The following Coordinators were elected after Elections 2008
There is also a discussion regarding whether any new subportals dealing with Christianity should be created here. All inputs are welcome.

Census India
I came across the new site of census while updating Gangtok, and found that the provisional table of population that GR India template uses is now outdated. Unfortunately, I could not dig out any such updated table, which would provide us with the population of cities.
Please see this and comment. As the provisional data is replaced by updated data, somehow we should change that, too. But how? This is very fundamental, and needs to be addressed. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 06:22, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright concerns
Hi. :) I'm helping out with some of the backlog at Category:Candidates for speedy deletion and see by your "hangon" at Image:Kochi India.jpg that you have permission from the photographer to release the photo. I'm not as familiar with image copyright issues as I am article, but I see by the speedy deletion template that "Template:Nothanks-sd" is appropriately left for images as articles. That template advises:
If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at [[Talk:{{{pg}}}]] and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
Judging by that, it seems that to secure the image from deletion, you should probably go ahead and send your e-mails as set out at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.
According to Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission, once you've sent the e-mail, you should write a note on the Image Description Page confirming that permission has been sent to the OTRS. Once the e-mail is received, an editor with access to OTRS will tag the image with {{PermissionOTRS}} providing evidence of the received e-mail and clearing the status of the item in question.
In any event, I'm moving on to uncontroversial deletions, but I wanted to let you know what I believe procedure to be in your circumstances. --Moonriddengirl(talk)20:29, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
I removed the speedy deletion tag for now, but since the image is tagged as "All rights reserved" on Flickr you rely should forward a copy of that e-mail permission to the OTRS permissions que. See Commons:OTRS and WP:COPYREQ. Thanks. --Sherool(talk)21:25, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
Oh should probably read the page before posting messages, see you already got the OTRS thing explained above. Anyway yeah, please do so. --Sherool(talk)21:28, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Jewish synagouge kochi india.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. I appreciate your enthusiasm in keeping copyrighted images off Wikipedia. However, regarding this particular image, you tagged it as a speedy only a few days ago. It was apparent that you did not read whatever was written in the license section, or you would have requested me for an OTRS verification rather than paste the boilerplate speedy message on my talk page. Again, you have put the image up for deletion with "OTRS permission claimed, but no ticket #". Well, its hardly been two days since I sent the email. I'd give at least a weeks time before putting up an image that claims OTRS unless you are particularly sure that OTRS has denied permission (which I doubt is the case).--thunderboltz(TALK)18:22, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Like I said, I appreciate the work you do no less. My point is only reiterated by your above statement, as you gave me hardly a few days to prove my claim. Please let's avoid any further arguments. Have a good day. Thank you!--thunderboltz(TALK)18:51, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I understand - thought it has been a little more than a few days, the image was uploaded in December of last year. If you have any other uploaded images with similar claims, please forward the permissions. I'll take a look at your other uploaded images to see if there are related problems. But I agree with the above - best wishes to you also. Kellyhi!18:53, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but can a sculpture of a sea shell be copyrighted? It's a structure that's too common and occurs naturally in nature. Also, the sculpture is in a government owned public park. If you are sure that it would still be a copyrighted work, I'll delete it off myself right now. Please let me know. Also, I'm busy with my exams currently and may not be able to reply (and correct the other images) until later.--thunderboltz(TALK)17:18, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
It's no trouble, and thank you for putting up with my copyright questions. I'm very sorry for the mistake I made on this image. For future uploads from Flickr, I'd like to recommend Flickr Upload Bot. (You'll need to have a Commons account.) It automatically fills out the details and verifies the license, so you don't have to worry about deletions if the photographer changes the CC license in the future. With respect - Kellyhi!17:36, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:The phoenix.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:The phoenix.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 10:19, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to the Sixth issue of the WikiProject Christianity newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.
Luckily, you all won't have to see my comments very often, as very little I have to say is really that important. But I would like to take the opportunity to say that I hope everyone finds the new General Forum page useful for discussing ideas relevant to Christianity in general, and feels free to make any additional comments regarding general Christianity there. Also, if any of you feel that you want to place a comment here in the future, please let us know what you want included. We would encourage all members to get more involved and if you are wondering what with, please ask. Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.
We are initiating a new feature here. Every month, we will list one misisng article. The first person to start the article will be mentioned by name in the next newsletter, as well as any others should they help get included in the Main Page DYK's section.

Judge Harold Baer wiki entry
Hi, I saw your name associated in the editing of the wiki entry for Federal Judge Harold Baer.
How come Judge Baer's wiki entry does not include his controversial decision in 2003 that Iraq was partly responsible for 9/11?

Tag & Assess 2008, an assessment drive initiated by the assessment department began on June 7, 2008 and will be running until July 2008. Many Wikipedians have started contributing to this mammoth task. This housekeeping activity will help manage articles in better way. You can also get involved!
Bot Assisted Assessment was successfully done using Bot0612 in May 2008. 1744 articles (18.5%) of all India unassessed articles were marked if they had been assessed by some other project.
IPL was hot on Wikipedia too!!! During the tournament, the article was among the most frequently edited articles. It is currently the only Indian article in top 100, occupying 58th spot.
Do you know of an article that is currently underrated? If so, please nominate the article at the Assessment Department's request for assessment. This will allow our project to get a better idea of the quality of our articles.

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Kerala State Electricity Board, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

We now have 53 featured articles 6 featured lists, and 130 good articles, with the recent promotions of Thomas Cranmer to FA class, List of encyclicals of Pope John XXIII to FL status, and Hugh de Puiset to GA level. Thanks to all those who worked on these articles!

As many of you will know, we currently have several articles relating to the same basic topics. The articles in the Category:Baptism are one example of such. It is really in the interests of all of us to try to place as much content in the main article of such topics, and then have the other articles "branch off" from there and making the central article as good an article as possible. We also now have a proposal for a new general "Christianity" related award, similar to the Military history project's chevrons, at Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/General Forum.
