It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on a biased choice of users' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote. While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Wikipedia's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. Thank you. NCAA Division II Football Coaches Pages

Hey @Thetreesarespeakingtome I was going through some of the NCAA Division II football coaches in preparation for the upcoming football seasons and noticed that some of the head coaches still don't have Wikipedia pages. The coaches are...

Greg Holsworth Henderson State Head Football Coach

Jason Rejfek McKendree Interim Head Football Coach

Daniel Chipka American International Interim Head Football Coach

Quintin Hunter Emory and Wasp Interim Head Football Coach

Also, there is one coordinator who needs to have their page updated to resemble that of a college coach that being the Gannon Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach Jovon Johnson.

If you could do that I would greatly appreciate it! ParkerLyme (talk) 16:24, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

NAIA Head Football Coaches and Harry Williams

Hey @Thetreesarespeakingtome sorry to message you again so soon but I was wondering that if you get some time I was hoping you would start making as many Wikipedia pages for NAIA head football coaches like you did for the D3 coaches!

Again this is no rush but I would greatly appreciate it!

Also Harry Williams needs to be updated for his coaching career as he is now the OC for Tuskegee under Aaron James.

Take all the time you need man and thanks for all the incredible work you have done! ParkerLyme (talk) 18:40, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@ParkerLyme, there's already quite a few created. I assume there may be a small list that you want to see created in particular? Thetreesarespeakingtome (talk) 00:55, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Thetreesarespeakingtome honestly none in specific
I have asked for a lot of them specifically in the past and only one was not considered notable enough due to not enough secondary sources.
I figured if you had any time you could go through the NAIA ones like you did with the NCAA D3 coaches
If you don’t then I could give you a few more to do if you want. ParkerLyme (talk) 01:06, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ParkerLyme, name any coach, any division, any time, and any team and I gotchu. Thetreesarespeakingtome (talk) 01:07, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Thetreesarespeakingtome well if that’s the case here are a few you could do
Brian Mistro - Jamestown Head Football Coach
Phil Ockinga - Peru State Head Football Coach
Reggie Langford Jr. - Sterling Head Football Coach
Daylon Markham - Bethel (KS) Interim Head Football Coach
Matt Myers - Kansas Wesleyan Head Football Coach
Jarrail Jackson - Texas College Head Football Coach
Nick Davis - Ottawa Head Football Coach
Those should suffice for now! ParkerLyme (talk) 01:22, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ParkerLyme, apologies for the delay. They all have pages or the start of one (Draft:Daylon Markham and Nick Davis had very little sources available). Thetreesarespeakingtome (talk) 22:17, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

JC football standing templates

Thanks for getting back on these. You're repeating some errors in the reference citation. You're flipping Fred Baer's name, and "California Community College Athletic Association" should not be italicized. Using the publisher field instead of the website field fixes that. Thanks for all you do in improviong college football articles. One request: When you make additions as here, it is important to include sourcing. Per WP:BLP this is especially critical when the person being discussed is a living person. Thanks. Cbl62 (talk) 16:55, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rio Grande head coaching change

I'm not sure if you've heard, but apparently, Quincy Wilson is out as the head coach of University of Rio Grande (NAIA), and defensive coordinator Mark Thurston has been hired as his replacement (source here). The thing is though is that the Rio Grande football program hasn't played a single snap yet-- they begin play next season. I guess I wanted to ask you, do you think this change should be noted on 2024 NAIA football season#Coaching changes? It did happen during the 2024 season, but the program in question wasn't even active then, so I'm not sure. Maybe this specific situation has happened before, but I can't think of any other times off the top of my head, so I wanted to get your opinion since you're so active on the CFB coaching pages. Finchwidget (talk) 20:17, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would go ahead and add it but with an explanatory note about how the program did not play. I see it as a similar situation where a coach is hired and leaves the team before coaching for them which would be added (like with Waldorf in 2023). Thetreesarespeakingtome (talk) 21:10, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, thanks for the insight! Finchwidget (talk) 22:09, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question for you

Hey, there. Great work as always with the coaches articles. I'm currently creating one myself and George Donges reminded me of a question I had which might sound a little trivial, but alas. In the infobox, how do you decide which order to put the different sports they might have coached? JTtheOG (talk) 22:25, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@JTtheOG, I just know the order I do it for historical articles is wrong, that is I do whatever order I discover they coached each sport. For current articles I always do the sport they currently coach then it’s a toss up between baseball and basketball then track and field is last. Why, you may ask? I do not know. It is definitely worth a conversation to bad though. I would reckon either chronological order or alphabetical order based on the sport would be a better system then just whatever I use. Thetreesarespeakingtome (talk) 22:28, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
JTtheOG, I have Thetreesarespeakingtome's talk page on my watch list and saw this pop up. I usually default to football first, basketball second, baseball third, and then whatever else after in some order that seems reasonable. That corresponds to the sequence of the those sports' seasons within an academic year and also the general order of prominence of those sports. In cases like Phog Allen, where the coach is clearly best known for basketball over football, I think it does make sense to put basketball first. Jweiss11 (talk) 22:33, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was just about to ping you lol. That does seem natural, especially the point about their sheer popularity at the college level. I was leaning towards that, but I was also thinking starting with the sport they are most notable for and then going chronologically after that (which would be the same exact order in Allen's case). Anyways, just another reason to love these early- and mid-20th-century coaches. JTtheOG (talk) 22:39, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
