Feel Free To Copy It!Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery i've heard. Who knows? Maybe we'll be able to improve each other's welcome pages. Also, while i'm here, do you mind helping my friend here? If not, i'll understand, but he's great bureaucrat material and we definately need more bureaucrats, particularly in his time zone. Oh yeah, one more thing. If you get a chance, please feel free to participate in my user sub project, i'm trying to see if there's a trend on the political views of Wikipedians. karmafist 06:30, 2 December 2005 (UTC) = Mason Dixon lineTantalumTelluride -8.63 -7.74 Somehow I think Alabama must be even harder on you than the comparatively progressive Massachusetts is on me :-) (I spent a year in South Carolina... ouch). Anyway, thanks for trying to keep me from leaving. karmafist 05:15, 9 December 2005 (UTC) Featured article candidacy for an Hugo Chavez subarticleI noticed you have listed yourself in Category:Socialist Wikipedians. That said, you will probably be interested in an Hugo Chávez Featured Article Candidacy (FAC). Chavez himself happens to be a socialist politician. As usual, please use your own higher judgment in deciding how to vote on this FAC, if you should decide to devote a few seconds to the matter. Regards, ← SARAVASK — 01:51, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks! Thanks for your comment. I knew from the beginning it would be an uphill battle to have the article kept - actually, I myself would favor deletion were it not for my strange and thorough interest in FRNs - but it is great to see a civil and productive AFD. Paul 00:25, 6 December 2005 (UTC) ThanksThanks for the barnstar. :) My counter tool has a couple of bugs that need to be squashed, and your comments give me the boost I need to fix them. It really is a temporary tool though (it's a needless waste of bandwidth for Wikipedia and for me), so hopefully some other alternative will appear. I'm not sure my shell account can bear the full strength of all Wikipedian's editcountitis combined. --Interiot 02:07, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

I am indeed testing a new template in the sandboxes and such and I will get around to unleashing it in a week or so after I know I've found all the newbie friendly parts of WP (although I don't want to overwhelm them). It seems that a few people who I've greeted had the impression that I thought they were vandals. >.< --Landon 13:44, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

Frustrated Userhi there. i've been a Wiki user for ages although only register my account recently. i've tried adding this site http://chinese-astrology.blogspot.com/ into the relevant topics in Wikipedia countless times, but each time it was removed by administrators. Yes it is a blog, and to allow blog links in Wiki is against the Wiki rules, yes i am finally aware... but is Wiki going to deny net-surfers the chance to access sites that have depth in relevant topics just because it is a blog?? Look around, there are countless links that are in fact commercial sites - sites that talk superficially about certain topics and require readers to pay for more detailed reports etc. . i think Wiki administrators need a rethink on what to allow or disallow in the -=External Links=-. If all Wiki wants are just websites that talk about specific topics without depth - websites that are a dime a dozen on google search - then how does Wikipedia progress? Before Wiki administrators removed Users-contributed links, do you actually surf the added-sites before you remove them? do you? does any administrator take the time to read through the sites before deciding whether the contents will add value to Wikipedia? Lastly, are ALL administrators so well-versed in all topics listed on Wiki that they could remove sites they deem irrelevant at a glance or revert deleted links as the bible of Wiki of which readers cannot do without? Wikipedia is an asset of the internet community, but please do not let the bureaucratic few of administrative rights to screw it up or impede its progress. Commonsense 20:40, 8 December 2005 (UTC) DepravityI have nothing to do with the State, but ever since I saw "Alabama State Constitution" on the DYK part of the Main Page (I think it was back the templates were editable!) I've been on and off cronicaling[sic] its depravity; I like to think I've added to WikimediAs info on it and made myself a minor authority on it. As to the governorate candidates, I can't find much bad about the Leut., the second one seems to be a corrupt fraudster (As per the new policy, "seems to be" since he hasn't been convicted), the current governor looks a littel suspiscious, especially with his comments about his "Christian" taxation system, and the last one, Yikes! 68.39.174.238 21:57, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Missing WikipediansI'd like to say a quick thanks for your very fair comments on SqueakBox's talk page regarding my entry on WP:MW. My final comment was indeed a way of saying why I left, and I'd happily shorten it or make it a little less inflammatory if you would so prefer (just ask kindly rather than removing me altogether!). It wasn't so much a case of returning as a troll; I had been away for a while, and on returning and getting going with some more editing I decided I couldn't be bothered for the reasons listed on MW. I might come back one day - we'll see. Thanks, --HighHopes 23:15, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
Re: Mark MartinI've responded on the article's Talk Page. My apologies for the late reply. --Mrmiscellanious 06:44, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
Welcome templateThanks, but a major disadvantage is that it transcludes all the qif code into the talk page when you use subst. There's probably no way to evaluate the if's and then have it transclude only text. For now I'm using my own template...sometimes it's better to keep it simple. —Bmdavll talk 23:26, 10 December 2005 (UTC) WikiProject NumismaticsDear WikiProject Numismatics member: You may have noticed the edits made by user:mom2jandk, and you may have also noticed that I have reverted most of them. I would like to leave this note as an explanation. mom2jandk is a new user and a clearly enthusiastic member of WikiProject:Numismatics. However, he/she has made several changes (specifically to the categorization scheme) that I reverted for various reasons. Among them, he/she:
After reading this fairly lengthy message, you might get the impression that I am attacking either mom2jandk or his/her edits; this is not the case. I have a great deal of admiration for him/her as a new user who is not afraid to jump in and try to improve Wikipedia and the Numismatics project. I hope he/she continues to contribute, and I believe he/she has a great deal to offer. This message is quite long because I wanted to explain the specifics of the categories (many of which, incidentally, were created by me.) Note that I placed merge tags on most of mom2jandk's categories. It goes without saying that, if there are any categories that should be altered and/or deleted, by all means make such changes, regardless of whether I or anyone else created them; neither I nor my edits are perfect. Apologies for using he/she; I assume mom2jandk's user name reflects her role as a mother but I wasn't completely certain. Thank you all and I look forward to continued work with you in the future. Esperanza elections
Hi TantalumTelluride/Archive3: This is a quick note just to let you know that there's an election under way at Esperanza. If you'd like to become a candidate for Administrator General or the Advisory Council, just add your name here by 15 December 2005. Voting begins at 12:00UTC on 16 December.
You've received this spam because you signed up for it here. To stop the spam, pop over and remove yourself and you'll never hear from Esperanza again! Thank youThank you for bringing me back to Wikipedia. I was going to leave, and was checking my last messages when I saw yours. I am glad that I am appreciated and you have made good contributions, too. Please respond. Pax Christi.--Anti-Anonymex2Come to my page! I've gone caliente loco! 03:01, 15 December 2005 (UTC) "apparent newbie mistake" vs. "vandalism"You referred to this edit by 210.211.83.61 as an "apparent newbie mistake," but you referred to this edit by 68.190.51.99 as "vandalism." What's the difference? Why was the edit by 68.190.51.99 not an "apparent newbie mistake"? 128.192.236.41 16:07, 16 December 2005 (UTC)

I think I am a candidate, and I think a couple of wiki friends are sort of avoiding me now because of it.... Maybe I'll try to make my own, but I thought i'd contact you to let you know. vcxlor 08:15, 20 December 2005 (UTC) You might be interested to see my response to Cool cat (with many typos) in relation to user boxes as to my thoughts on the matter, I dont think self censorship on your or my part is necessarily going to stop the mania when it strikes, I guess we will need to set up a page of wiki policy on limits/usage/ by about Jan 6 is my guess. vcxlor 01:15, 22 December 2005 (UTC) Inddeeddies they is Evil, but I might have got it wrong aabovre - they will probably become a separate wiki all on their own, grow some bizarre thing and become the next google type thing maybe (horrors)vcxlor 01:33, 23 December 2005 (UTC) Howcheng's RfAThank you for your support in my recent request for adminship. To tell you the truth, I was surprised by all the support I've gotten. I never saw myself as more than an occasional Wiki-hobbyist. My wife sends her curses, as Wikipedia will likely suck up more of my time. She jokingly (I think) said she was tempted to log on to Wikipedia just to vote Oppose and let everyone know that she didn't want her husband to be an admin. I'll make sure your trust in me is founded. --Deathphoenix 14:40, 28 December 2005 (UTC) Wiki-VacationWell, I told myself i'd "try" at least ;-) Compared to the other days recently, this is a slowdown of sorts I guess.
