Non-Admin Closures

Reminder: WP:NAC is not policy, it is only an essay. My closures follow WP:NACD (actual policy), thank you.

Please place your complaints here. It appears that no matter how an AfD is closed, it will offend SOMEBODY, therefore please place your complaints below. I will read them all, but I will not respond to them if they are rude. I am also likely to ignore your threats helpful comments and advice if your own closures are regularly up for deletion review... I do not take a simple head count of the !votes, I consider consensus and Wikipedia policy. I close Afds that are WP:SNOW keeps. Or if they are hopelessly locked, with three or more relistings, as WP:NOCONSENSUS. If they have less than three listings, I relist. If I closed a 20 day old hopelessly deadlocked discussion as "no consensus", please do not accuse me of doing a NAC on a "controversial" thread, as obviously there was no consensus, and it was wasting everyone's time, and needed to be closed. --Sue Rangell ✍ ✉ 18:50, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

  • You are free to do so of course, but I think it's a big waste of time. There is no chance of it being deleted. I closed it as "no consensus" because there isn't a consensus, nor will relisting likely result in a consensus, as it has already been relisted... In the interests of saving a lot of people a lot of time, I hope you will reconsider, but if not, it will most likely be closed as "No Consensus" anyway.   • There is no right or wrong. No need for drama. "No Consensus" defaults to "Keep", so there is no real difference in how the article was closed, just a (very slight) difference of opinion between the closing admin and myself. Since the nominator was angry at my closure for not DELETING it, I am sure the backlash would have been considerably more had I closed it as a Keep, rather than "No Consensus".   • Let me say THIS another way... I don't like drama. I try to be very friendly to everyone that I meet on Wikipedia. The last thing I want to do is quibble with somebody, on my own talk page, the difference between a "No Consensus" and "Keep". It is the tiniest of judgment calls. The absolute tiniest. Other than what you are doing here, you seem like a very nice and rational person, so I am willing to discuss this trivial matter with you, but I will not muddy up my own talk page with it. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! That may very well have been one of the wildest times I have ever had on Wikipedia. There was something like 12 IP vandals all saying Loveley Things. Reverting reversions as fast as they could be made. At one point the page was deleted only to be re-created instantly. I think they finally deleted it and salted it, due to the over-the-top efforts by the vandals. I felt like I was being swallowed up! :) --Sue Rangell[citation needed] 22:19, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

did you see the reason. that other person Omair00 Cut it from the Metalcore Page, Im in the process of checking a few things and posting it back. If someone wants those points added to the story then, whoever does needs to re-write their own version of the same facts, not take it from Metalcore thats kind of ridiculous. Its going back I am checking some dates to put it BACK in to The METALCORE PAGE with more impact than before by Placing it as Chronological as possible. However if Wiki allows copying one page and posting word for word on another than it will be the second version as thats been on the Metalcore page for at Least One Year, If I remember correctly. maybe longer . hope that was clear and easy read. Hi, I havent put the cut-paste material back in metalcore but the same person just changed the whole page again and its not in tune with consensus . erasing sourced material. the same material that got the one editor to semi-protect the page. this person has a lot of warnings maybe they go and erase pages often. Most everything that page does, gets reverted from what I checked at other pages. If you look at the page history of metalcore its basically nothing helpful from that page. its been months erasing sourced material, mtv and real bands, and erasing real history. what to do ? I just saw my submission for Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Susan Branch was again declined. I really want to get this right, and I thought I had done that by following the previously posted guidelines. I beefed up the references, tried to make it basic black and white facts, and am confident her work is notable.

You stated the article could be possible if sourcing were improved. Can you please explain that a little more so I can do just that and finish this up?

Question

Hello Sue Rangell, I recently noticed that you added "The Barnstar of Diplomacy" to the page User talk:Beyond My Ken ([2]). May I ask you why? I find it hard to understand, considering the user in question recently violated WP:3RR (see [3], [4], [5] and [6] [he even made further reverts during the next few hours, as you can see at [7]]), and then went to my talk page, and threatened to report me for "disruptive editing", even though I had not violated the 3RR. In the history of his talk page, one can find material such as "You are totally out of your league in this instance, so I suggest you deal with subjects about which you know something, and keep your nose out of things about which you clearly know nothing. In other words: please fuck off." ([8]), as well as an edit summary containing the passage "this piece of bullshit" ([9]). The user in question also strikes me as uncooperative; I invited him to take part in a discussion found at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Classical music, and he ignored that ([10]). Hello! It is nice to meet you. The barnstar I awarded him was a reflection on my experience with him in the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Susan Essien Etok discussion. Even as other editors were getting nasty, he seemed to be keeping a cool head and remained quite civil with me. The 3RR rule is a very important rule, and editwarring is not acceptable. If you feel he has done anything untoward, you should report it. My barnstar comes from my own experience with this editor, and reflects that. I am very sorry that you did not enjoy the positive experience that I did with this editor, as you seem to be a very nice person. This just goes to show that we, as human beings, tend to have many faces. One person's thorn-in-the-side can obviously be another person's barnstar awardee. NAC again...

Per the previous discussion about Non-Admin Closures of AfDs, I would like to invite you to re-nominate MUD trees for deletion.

  1. I was under the impression that you agreed to restrict yourself to only the most obvious AfDs when performing a non-admin closure as evidenced in the earlier discussions here on your talk page.
  2. It is considered best practice to only NAC items that are unanimous keeps or merges. As evidenced at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/MUD trees this was not the case.
  3. As evidenced at ANI it was observed that there had been a external canvassing attempt.
  4. Per the directions at WP:DRV, I am attempting to discuss the issue with the one involved in the closure. As the original AfD was tainted by the effort of a canvassing attempt I think that re-opening the AfD after the closure is not in the best interests of Wikipedia.

If you do not intend to re-nominate, I will request a review at WP:DRV citing the above inconsistencies with the first AfD. Please let me know within a reasonable time (~3 days) so that the issue may be addressed. Hasteur (talk) 17:44, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

When I run into a problem like that, I don't run away. I won't ever leave Wikipedia so no worries there. If the drama gets too thick, I simply move to a different area of Wikipedia.
