Pagerename.py
Thank you very Honorable Sir for creating pagerename.py. It is a very useful pywikipedia script. Answering your question, I am using Windows XP (French edition, Arabic enabled) and Python version 2.5.1. I would like to suggest something for the script: It would be a solution if you add an argument for a text file where we can add the appending, prepending or deleting word. Thank you very much.
For example:
For the classic writing:
-pagerename.py -file:list of files to move.txt -append:"the word to append"
For the other form of writing (where the word to append, prepend or delete is put in a file):

Well, I'm sorry if I have hurt your feelings, but please note that: a) Romanian wikipedia is still inconsistent (perhaps not entirely so, but I really think it should have been troubleshot for a while); b) over here, and on other collateral projects, the only trickle-down effect was of the worst kind, since some have started making not just manual moves, but also random edits in article space. When I take the trouble of writing a more than decent article, I certainly don't expect this (let's count together how many were changed and how many were left in the same text). I mean, seriously, whatever we decide to do next, we have to get past this sort of ineptitude. Build a bot or ban new diacritics, it's ultimately irrelevant, but at the very least let's not whitewash over the fact that such edits are disruptive. If you have a bot solution, and if it needs troubleshooting and human supervision, I'll personally help you fix the errors, and no matter how much I dislike the whole "new diacritics" thing I'll personally help you apply it and fix it. Whatever can help us move on and out of this swamp.
Oh and. It would have been extraneous to the AN/I discussion, but the Romanian Academy did in fact do a half-assed job. Without going into the chaotic history of diacritics usage and the long string of idiotic Academy decision-making (from Laurian's dictionary to the "â everywhere" rule), the way in which this came about is downright Caragialesque.
Thanks for replying. As I mentioned, the issue of inconsistencies there was brought up by Anonimu, though I do find his example persuasive. Also, I don't think this is an issue of settings: the name I cited should always display as "s-comma", as it never was and never should be Romanianized (I can't really say what that should mean for the more common, slightly Romanianized, Soliman Paşa variant).
I also never did imply that it is a generic situation. The very fact that we're talking "inconsistencies" means it is not generic, but rather shows that the overhauled version still has anomalies. I do not intend to bring Romanian wikipedia down over nothing - though I know there is such folklore about me as "disruptive", mainly because some incompetent and disruptive users over there have been unable or unwilling to recognize that their edits suck (while others have incorporated my suggestions, and even rendered my contributions over here into at least one GA-level article over there); it has many problems, and a core of users who still go with the "ICANTHEARYOU" option (why, after hundreds of pages of debate and consensus, do they still keep promoting FAs that have not one citation?), but I don't have an urge to tear it down - I just want fixes, and these fixes won't happen until others realize the issues. I don't want to turn the diacritics thing into another one of those pointless "tell us so we know not to fix it/when you want to bury something, you establish a committee" threads over there, and my contributions to rowiki are by now marginal, but I would just like to see the problem contained enough over on enwiki.
And that is the main point of my latest posts, on this page and at AN/I: let's fix it over here. Are we getting anywhere on this particular topic, or are you just taking offense at stuff I may or may not have implied about rowiki inconsistencies? Dahn (talk) 10:12, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, fine: you're right, I've bad-mouthed your entire project, and I'm a jerk, and you're doing great over there, and I'm sorry I ever questioned your comments about how the Academy is doing nicely, and you're right to single me out as the one (and obviously delusional) critic of the change, and you've hit the nail on the head with saying that I have a secretive agenda of dissuading others from accepting the vital diacritics, and in general anyone who criticizes Romanian wikipedia can only be bad or "much worse", etc. etc.
Now, to the point: how do we fix that over here? How do I keep my activity, which is to create good, solid and stable content, from being subjects to whims such as the one I described in the Iorga case? Can you assist in this matter at some point, after I'm done pouring ashes on my head, or do we go on forever discussing how the change was applied on a project I do not rarely contribute to? Bună, am fost blocată permanent de administratorii Dan Mihai Pitea și Pafsanias și mi s-au șters majoritatea articolelor pe motiv că aș fi clona lui Ark25 ( comportament similar). Nu sunt clona lui Ark25. Sunt prietenă cu el, dar toate contribuțiile de pe wikipedia sunt ale mele, făcute de mine, el doar m-a îndrumat, mi-a arătat cum să fac primul ciot și m-a ajutat să învăț sintaxa Wiki și formatele principale mai repede. Chiar m-am simțit prost astăzi când am văzut că sunt aproape toate articolele șterse, pentru că am depus muncă, energie, am consumat timp, și mi-a făcut plăcere să editez wikipedia. Majoritatea erau traduceri și în general cioturi, în special pe teme de medicină și yoga, dar am încercat să le fac cât mai frumos și mai îngrijit. Vă pot demonstra că nu sunt Ark25, sunt persoană distinctă, și pot demonstra că eu însumi am făcut toată munca de editare de până acum și că pot să fac în continuare același tip de editări. Eu am dovezi: stilul meu de editare este diferit de al lui Ark25 și pot să demonstrez inclusiv în persoană că sunt altcineva și eu nu sunt aceeași persoană cu el. Domnii respectivi consideră că imaginația lor devine în mod automat adevărul absolut și că deciziile lor nu pot fi comentate. Pentru ei, orice argument sau evidență sunt "irelevante" pentru simplul fapt că ei au puterea de a bloca. Vă rog frumos, dacă mă puteți ajuta. @Arwenz, ark25 are interdicție la Wikipedia în limba română, ceea ce înseamnă că nu vom accepta niciun fel de contribuții de la el, direct sau prin intermediul altor conturi. Thank you very much, @Pafsanias:! You found THE MAGIC WORD, the final proof. However, we, normal people, are not as attentive to the correct form of the reinforcing/emphatic pronoun as you think. Puteți demonstra că absolut nimeni și absolut niciodată nu face o asemenea eroare în scris referitoare la gen? Nu este nevoie, pentru că sunteți administrator și atunci absolut toate enunțurile formulate de dumneavoastră devin în mod automat adevărul absolut, nu-i așa? Deci fanteziile dvs. referitoare la testul cu rața și o literă greșită sunt dovada indiscutabilă (tot ce afirmați dvs. este indiscutabil, nu?) că eu sunt Ark25 și în aceeași viziune "realistă" pe care o aveți, dovezile nu au nicio importanță și sunt irelevante. Vă repet încă o dată că sunt o persoană distinctă de Ark25, eu am făcut toate articolele de pe Wikipedia, nu aveți nicio dovadă concretă în sprijinul deciziei pe care ați luat-o. Nu am făcut acte de vandalism. Nu am stricat articole. Din contră am încercat să fac articole cât mai frumoase și mai îngrijite. V-a deranjat faptul că stilul în care am intervenit în discuții este asemănător cu cel al lui Ark25, pentru că trebuie să recunoașteți că de aici ați ajuns la concluzia că sunt clonă cu comportament similar, decizia dumneavoastră nu are absolut nimic de a face cu stilul și forma articolelor editate de mine, ci cu modul în care am răspuns pe pagina de discuții. El m-a învățat cum să port o discuție în care să mă folosesc de argumente și de logică, în care să-mi apăr punctul de vedere atât timp cât e clar că am dreptate, mai ales când interlocutorii se bazează pe idei fanteziste, provenite din stări sufletești necontrolate, încearcă să intimideze, folosesc pretexte, o dau din colț în colț, dictează adevăruri, și nu fac apel la rațiune și common sense. V-am spus și vă repet că pot dovedi în ce mod considerați dvs necesar că sunt o persoană diferită. Vă pot da numărul meu de telefon și să facem videocall pe WhatsApp și scriu ce vreți dvs pe pagina mea de discuții sau editez un articol la alegerea dumneavoastră (dacă mă deblocați în scop de testare), și așa puteți vedea IP-ul meu de la acel moment, plus mai pot face și poze din orașul meu cu orice obiectiv doriți, pentru a vă convinge că trăiesc în orașul meu. Și Ark25 poate face același lucru (videocall, editare Wikipedia, poze cu obiective din orașul lui). Mă pot întâlni, preferabil într-un oraș din Transilvania, cu dumneavoastră sau orice alt administrator Wikipedia, puteți purta mască, nu mă interesează cine sunteți, și pot veni cu laptopul să adaug cioturi și să fac traduceri câte doriți. Putem trimite, atât eu, cât și Ark25, copii ale actelor de identitate la fundația Wikimedia. Pot să vă arăt, de pe buletinul meu, poza și prenumele, iar fundația Wikimedia le va confirma. Dar pe dumneavoastră nu vă interesează evidențele pentru că la Wikipedia Română totul se rezolvă mult mai comod și mult mai "eficient" prin metoda pumnului în gură, nu-i așa? Oricum, ați putea completa textul de întâmpinare, și anume "oricine poate edita Wikipedia", cu sintagma "cu excepția prietenilor lui Ark25". Și să știți că e foarte neplăcut să pui suflet, timp și energie ca să faci ceva, și totul să fie, în mod complet nejustificat, erased, și nu vă doresc să simțiți vreodată ce am simțit eu duminică, atunci când am văzut că sunt toate articolele șterse. În atenția administratorilor @Pafsanias: și @Dan Mihai Pitea:, cu scuzele de rigoare pentru domnul administrator Strainu: domnilor, se pare că dumneavoastră considerați cazul acesta încheiat și gunoiul ascuns sub preș. Nu doriți să recurgeți la nicio formă de identificare a mea (propusă de mine sau aleasă de dumneavoastră). Și știți de ce nu faceți acest lucru? pentru că rezultatul ar fi că eu am dreptate și dvs v-ați înșelat când m-ați blocat ca și clonă. Oricum afirmația aceea cu "ați trecut cu brio testul rățoiului" - pe care v-ați bazat decizia, este foarte, extrem de evazivă și niciodată nu ați catadicsit să explicați ce înțelegeți prin aceasta. Vă rog să-mi detaliați și mie ce a presupus acest test (că pricep mai greu): Cu ce am greșit? A fost vorba de articolele create, de pozele de pe profil sau de stilul meu de argumentare folosit pe pagina de discuții? În ce fel am arătat ca o rață, am înotat ca o rață și am măcănit ca o rață? Și mai important decât asta, este întrebarea ce reguli am încălcat? Faptul că am făcut traduceri? Că am făcut cioturi? Că am îndrăznit să-mi iau apărarea pe pagina de discuții și că am învățat de la Ark25 cum să port o conversație bazată pe argumente și logică și să cer dovezi și evidențe pentru cele afirmate? Înțeleg că munca dvs ca și administratori e grea și obositoare, dar de data aceasta v-ați înșelat. Vă rog să aveți tăria de caracter să recunoașteți acest lucru. Asumarea erorilor și a greșelilor e un pas important în evoluția noastră ca oameni. În primul rând vă mulțumesc că ați acceptat faptul că exist ca persoană diferită de Ark25, și v-ați adresat mie personal (deci nu sunt clonă). Nu vă supărați, dar totuși nu mi-a răspuns nimeni la întrebare: ce reguli Wikipedia am încălcat? (eu credeam că deciziile se bazează pe reguli). Afirmația aceasta cu "asocierea cu o persoană" se folosește de fapt în dreptul penal, pentru incriminare, de exemplu în cazul grupărilor criminale și al crimei organizate. Ce înțelegeți dumneavoastră prin termenul de "asociere"? Faptul că am recunoscut că sunt prietenă cu el înseamnă "asociere"? Dacă aș fi soția lui, ar trebui să divorțez de el ca să editez Wikipedia? Înseamnă că niciun prieten de-al lui Ark25 nu ar trebui niciodată să încerce să editeze Wikipedia, pentru că are din start prezumția de vinovăție de "asociat"? Ce reguli am încălcat prin faptul că am învățat de la Ark25 sintaxa și formate wiki, să fac cioturi (traducerile le-am făcut eu, fără să mă învețe el, că lui nu-i place să facă traduceri) și arta conversației pe bază de argumente, logică și evidențe - proces de învățare pe care dvs îl numiți "asociere" (cf. Dex :"Asociere=a se grupa cu cineva pentru atingerea unui scop comun")? Scopul acestui proces de învățare a fost strict acela ca eu, să pot să editez Wikipedia și să știu să-mi iau apărarea prin mine însămi, în mod autonom. Cu ce a deranjat asta pe cineva, pe dumneavoastră sau comunitatea Wikipedia? De ce vă este frică de mine? Dacă încalc regulile, atunci puteți să mă blocați ca pe orice alt utilizator.
