Hi Srosenow 98, My reasons for editing your edit were twofold:

  1. the actual article title for the subject is News presenter, so I chose that as a middle ground between my preferred term and yours, since it is consistent with the Wikipedia article's title; and
  2. to make Lewis's job more readily recognisable to an international readership. In many countries outside the USA, "anchor" will usually refer to an item used to help secure a boat (or other object) in place. To my Commonwealth English mind, describing a person as a heavy object seems vaguely impolite (particularly with obesity being such a hot topic these days!) and I had to shift mental gears to recall I've occasionally heard the word used in the context of "newsreader" in some news broadcasts originating from the US.

I respect your point that the article is about a US person & therefore a US-term would be reasonable.. hey, I use the same justification when Americanisms are applied to articles on British Commonwealth concepts which possess their own nomenclature. Given your close familiarity with local practice not only in the US but at KOMO, if you want to revert my edit, then I will politely stand back! Best regards, Bezapt 11:20, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

All material on Wikipedia that states claims such as " over six stories high ", "platform is over fifteen feet high alone", "entire setup is over 100 feet in width", and "roughly five by eight feet", must be referenced. If the image is usable and is an inline link rather then the actual image being displayed, you can add the not orphan template to the image page. Have a look at the image page and in the red notice box it lists the not orphan template. I think the use you have it for is a valid use (though I am not an expert in fair use claims). orphaned images

If you add the images to an article as a link, they do not show up on the image page as being linked. The section on each image page at the bottom shows where it is linked as an actual image rather then just a link.

To show the image is used and not orphaned, you need to add the not orphan template to the image page. Here is the text from the image deletion notice "If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan|article name}} to this page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again."

The [citation needed] tag in re: the Phantom's design

Hi Steven,
Short of an actual company rep from Gillig, you are probably the person whom I would most rely on for Gillig information (I've been following your website for years), but I wonder if you could provide a citation for the statement that the Phantom is based on their old Transit Coach school bus. Having grown up riding on Gillig (and Crown) school buses, and having once been a bus driver of Gillig Phantoms, I can attest to the fact that the two are very different from a design standpoint (and not just appearances, I'm talking frame, body, powertrain, etc). Also, I don't know if this part was added by you or another editor (it was done some time ago I believe), but do you by any chance happen to have any sources for the statements about how Gillig was helped out with tax subsidies during the early production of the Phantom? Gillig Transit Coach model numbers

Hello,
Are you sure that the 590, 534, C-160, C-180, and C-190 all had a "D" at the end of the model numbers? I thought that the "D" was only added to the later models (after the C-series buses) that were equipped with diesel engines. Also, did the 555-D really have the "VTF" prefix? I thought that the bus model itself just included the number. Spicoli (talk) 06:44, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

To your knowledge, did the "D" ever make it into their product catalog or promotional materials for any of those models? I'm wondering if the D was just added when the buses were re-engined with a diesel, or perhaps if they were specially ordered with a diesel. Also, do you know anything about the "-13" and other similar designations that were sometimes found at the end of the model numbers? So that's what the D stands for, very interesting. I didn't know that the bus industry started using the A-D designators that early on. So then what does the "T" stand for on some models? At first I thought that the T was for tandem axle, but I noticed on one of the sales brochures on your website that they had a "DT" bus without the tandem axle. Is it perhaps a designator for a turbocharged engine?
With regard to the -13, -16, etc., do you think that we should add those as specific bus models in the table on the Transit Coach page? I know that when I created the page for the GM "old-look" transit bus I included all of the different bus models, and while it made for a very long list I think that it's still somewhat useful. Although, on the other hand, I didn't do the same when I created the Flxible New Look bus page, but in that case I think it was just because I was too lazy to collate all of the production data that I found here.
That's absolutely disgusting that Gillig destroyed all of their historic records! I mean, come on, I can't image it was taking up all that much space in their huge factory. They probably could have even donated it to some library or museum that would have held on to it for them. Wow. Well, now more than ever, I'll keep an eye out for old Gillig stuff and if I ever happen to procure any myself, I'll scan it and send it to you for your website. 1) Srosenow 98 (talk · contribs) added the material with this edit on 13:19, 15 December 2007. That material was copied and pasted from GilligCoaches.net. That is um, you.
2) Just saying that you are "x" doesn't make it so. I am Bill Gates and own www.microsoft.com. I do I know that is who you are? You could be Scoter Libby, George Bush, Charles Manson. What if I say that I run the Getty Images site and you can download any images there and use them for what ever you like?
Just follow proper procedure. Leaving messages on my talk page or the Kenworth talk page is not what needs to be done. If you just follow the rules there will be no problem. ~ WikiDon (talk) 09:32, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

One simple way to grant permission to copy material already on line is to put that permission explicitly on the site where that material is posted. This is commonly known as a "copyleft" notice. Clarification of copy permission assertion

Hi. I am investigating copyright problems listed at WP:CP and came upon the entry for Kenworth on June 17th. I see this was also listed on June 19th, so I have struck out the earlier notice as redundant. It looks like the matter is a bit complex and that you have been frustrated in your efforts to deal with it.

There are two steps you might take to release material you've authored and published elsewhere on Wikipedia. First, you may place a notice somewhere on the website releasing this material under GFDL or into public domain or you may write from an address associated with the website to permissions-en at wikimedia dot org (or sent a postal letter to the Wikimedia Foundation) releasing this material under GFDL. These messages must explicitly permit use under the GFDL. This is important, as release of material under GFDL allows anyone to modify or reuse this material, commercially or otherwise.

I note that your website does verify that you have authored a derivative version on Wikipedia, but it does not confirm that reuse of the material is permitted. It ought to be sufficient to note there that the material on Wikipedia is fully released by GFDL. To be on the safe side, I would recommend including a permanent link to the point where you introduced the material. Of course, you could simplify the whole thing by just releasing that page. :)
