List of Hindu Nobel laureates

Hello SpacemanSpiff! Well, I am also a content creator for Wikipedia like many others. I mostly dabble with languages, writing systems, trade etc., but my domain is very expansive. I will come straight to the point, I read this article about 'Muslim Nobel laureates' and thought of creating one for Hindus as well, but after creating a link, I found that this article could only be created with your permission. I know there were some failed attempts regarding this topic in the past, but I assure you, I have very sincere intentions of creating this article and I am ready to take your inputs before creating one.

(talk page stalker) @Rishu Shukla: I'll let Spacemen reply for themselves, but just wondering if there are any scholarly sources that analyze the demographics of Nobel laureates by religion, and Hinduism in particular? The best I see is this 2003 book by a hobbyist and (re)published by non-academic presses, which seems to be written as a lark exploratory analysis (it includes a section on the astrological signs of Nobel prize winners :) ). नमस्कार Abecedare! As I would look at it, this subjective debate of the discoveries/inventions of the Nobel laureates contradicting some of the ideas of the religion they followed (even if following it agnostically) is as old (or even older) as the award itself. There have been multiple isolated attempts at generalising the demographics (particularly the religion) of the winners by various sources, whether sincere or not, including the one you shared with me. I cannot say with determination that there has been some scholarly analysis of the Nobel laureates following (or once followed, like in the case of Amartya Sen) Hinduism, but I have come across several articles (mostly by Israeli or Jewish publications) discussing and trying to come to a conclusion as to why a religion with ~0.2% of the global population has ~25% of the Nobel laureates (mostly American or European Jewish laureates, not Israeli). There also are articles discussing why Islam, with ~25% of the global population has ~1% of the Nobel laureates (One even disregarded as Muslim by his own government, as is the case with Abdus Salam). I could provide links to all these articles, but I believe it is unnecessary here. Also, with my approach, I am not disregarding any laureate based on his/her religion, afterall an individual winning an award has to do with the expansive scope of their research, not their beliefs. Looking at all these articles makes you wonder as to where is any credible source for laureates following Hinduism (because one scoffing at this approach by stating the article for Indian Nobel laureates is enough is wrong in principle), and if there aren't, then I believe Wikipedia is one of the best places for such an article; afterall, for many (including me), Wikipedia is the primary source for information digestion. As I have already stated, I don't know when was this article first created, but looking at the deletion and undeletion log of the article makes me wonder the cause and reasoning of these actions behind this very article. I hope this rather factless response might provide a better understanding as to why I want this article to be created (or undeleted) by the administrator:) Rishu Shukla (talk) 15:23, 15 October 2022 (UTC)

@Rishu Shukla: I share your observation that there are ample sources on the inordinate number of Jewish Nobel laureates, and a whole literature discussing the possible factors behind that phenomenon. I haven't seen anything comparable for any of the other religions besides throwaway op-ed or listicle type pieces churned out every October when the latest awards are announced.
I think that the place we differ is when you say that, ...if there aren't [credible source for laureates following Hinduism ], then I believe Wikipedia is one of the best places for such an article. Since wikipedia is a tertiary sources unless there are already reliable secondary sources on the subject, wikipedia should not have an article/list on it. • This was deleted after AfD (I was not the deleting admin), I only protected because the similar versions (without addressing the issues brought up at AfD, and also containing BLP vios) were being recreated. So, you'll have to either go to DRV or create a draft and have it submitted through that process. —SpacemanSpiff 16:45, 17 October 2022 (UTC)

Hi SpacemanSpiff, take a look at the history of Vivek Agnihotri searching for the word "published". Outside of the IPs, I see a couple blocked socks in July (Waftcinemas and EntertainmentBollywood) tied to Bikrookanpurgangster. I suspect Shree Krishna 1234 is a sock as well. • S0091, I came to this mess via Commons where both accounts uploaded copyvios with similar info. It looks like all of them have a fondness for copyvios, I'll have a deeper look later and see if I should block, unless someone beats me to it. —SpacemanSpiff 01:10, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
