Continued block evasion by Ntyhoney

I think Ntyhoney (talk · contribs) is repeatedly evading their block, eg see these contributions. Can the articles listed there be placed under semi-protection? - Sitush (talk) 21:07, 3 September 2016 (UTC)

Thanks. I'm not sure if you have deliberately left Moonpur Thakran or whether it is an oversight. - Sitush (talk) 16:00, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

SahibCollege24?

Hi SS, I saw your flagging of SahibCollege24 as a suspected sock of Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Arshad Roshan.a.a/Archive -- I've encountered the SahibCollege socks and know them from Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Imtitanium/Archive. Do you think Arshad is the right master for all the accounts, or might Imtitanium be the right master? I don't see any SahibCollege accounts in the Arshad archive, only the Sahiba KATCO account. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:36, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

I was a bit confused earlier too, there's some overlap in articles between the groups and the writing style is a bit similar. It could very well be a collective where the two groups are collaborating. This isn't an uncommon practice with our sock groups operating in the area. Maybe Ponyo can shed some light on this after waving her magic wand? cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 03:57, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
They don't match either group technically, though with promotional sock farms and paid editing instances like this it's not unusual to see WP:MEAT popping up and joining the fray. Also  CheckUser is not magic pixie dust, so if behaviourally they are clearly related, the CU data is worth much. --Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 20:39, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
I double checked based on the info in the Imtitanium archive and it's a  Confirmed match to SahibColllege20 in the archives. I'll update the tag accordingly. --Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:03, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
This does appear to be one of those collectives but then on a deeper look they appear to be operating from two different countries, so a bit problematic to match and track. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 03:49, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

About conflict of interest

Hey,

Thanks for marking it. But I think the first page I have posted is fairly neutral and presents an unbiased view. What do you think?

Himanshi 010 (talk) 06:46, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

Both your contributions read like brochures. It appears that you have some connection to the company and are therefore trying to promote the product and the person. PLease follow the COI requirements and our Terms of Service as explained in the note on your talk page. —SpacemanSpiff 07:13, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

Regarding Sanctions

Dear SS,

I was just trying to improve the article related to Gurjar-pratihars, which have been my subject of study for a very long period (say 15 years now). I made a mistake by editing the main article page earlier, but realizing the mistake, I just tried to add some information on the talk page of the articles names "origin of gurjara pratihara". Please tell me what went wrong, as I made sure to cite correct reference in all my talks? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashokharsana (talkcontribs) 09:16, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

It appears that you've been doing this for many years now, you are topic banned from this area, so you shouldn't be editing it. The appeals process is explained in the note on your talk page. —SpacemanSpiff 09:18, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

I'll make sure to adhere to the rules in future and read the policies in detail before making any further edit to these pages. Please let me know is writing on talk pages is also in violation ?The Real Rana (talk) 09:38, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for responding but what was the reason for this sanction? Is it wrong to cite a reference on the talk page itself, seeking productive changesThe Real Rana (talk) 09:48, 16 September 2016 (UTC)? Where is one supposed to write if he feels something is not right with an article?

Ashokharsana aka 'The Real Rana', the reasons for your topic ban are explained on your talkpage. See also Wikipedia:TOPICBAN. 220 of Borg 20:52, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

About COI

Sir i have no interest on the pages i edit, but i know better on that topic, i always give references to my edits, that was the first time i added a image on wikipedia and i didn't knew enough about copyright policy, i will take care about it in future — Preceding unsigned comment added by BSBINDIA (talkcontribs) 07:23, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Deletion of Helpchat App

Hey, You have deleted the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helpchat_(app) . May I please know the reason for the same? Also, the page is important to support the startup economy of India. We need to cover as much as startups in the mid range for people to know about them. You can search about Helpchat. Please restore the page. I can add the needed resources for citation. How else can you judge a mid sized startup apart from the PR it receives?

It's obvious that you don't care about our policies or terms of service, so you (and the other sockpuppets) will find yourself blocked soon if this continues. —SpacemanSpiff 10:55, 22 September 2016 (UTC)

Info needed

I've cleaned some in Education in Guntur. Is there any format for adding city institutions in such pages, they clearly are district related. Also, please see Talk:Guntur#AAIIMS an institution was added in the same way on Guntur page by a user which is still under proposal. If you are free, could you assist in education section of this article?--Vin09(talk) 10:20, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Vin09, I'm not very well versed with the format and structure of city articles. I suggest you check with BilCat or Arjayay who edit those things. But from a practical standpoint, if something is part of the district but not the city, then it shouldn't be in the city article. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 10:30, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Page Vareethiah

Hi,

I have created the below page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/vareethiah to make the details and contribution of the writer Vareethiah in wiki.

Has the page been deleted because it was created without not much initial contents?

Can you please let me know?

Johnfredy.wiki, the note on your talk page explains why it was deleted. Article subjects have to pass our notability guideline and articles require reliable source references to be kept. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 12:11, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection

Hello, SpacemanSpiff. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:49, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi!

While taking to Materialscientist, I saw one of your posts that User:Samad PG was a sockpuppet, on his page it didn't have 'confirmed sockpuppet' tag given, so I added it, ready to thank me ?

Thanks or No Thanks lemme know

Another Padmalakshmisx sockpuppet

I see that a few months ago you started a suspected sockpuppet of Padmalakshmisx. I do not believe I have ever dealt with the original editor or any of the sockpuppets, but I did come across an editor that I believe is another sockpuppet, User:Thandrapaparayudu. I am sure I could find more examples, but I noticed two sets of edits from the new editor and a previously blocked sockpuppet User:Basedverna, [2] vs. [3] and [4] vs. [5], so I am sure there are more similarities but these were the first two I looked into and they basically matched each other. I am not sure if I have ever started a suspected sockpuppet investigation, but if I have it was a long time ago, so any input on what the next step should be would be appreciated. Aspects (talk) 16:43, 26 September 2016 (UTC)

Aspects, I've kind of been away from the Padma draw for a while but this looks similar to his MO. Cyphoidbomb is the person keeping track of him now and can maybe decide whether this is just a WP:DUCK situation or if an WP:SPI is needed. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 01:47, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
@Aspects: I can't say that I'm much smarter on the matter. I mean, I've dealt with some of them, but I tend to not have the greatest memory about these timesucks. I think it's extraordinarily suspicious when I see someone reinstate reversions. Nobody new to the project thinks, "boy, this article could use some improvements--I know, I'll look in the page history to see what was deleted". That doesn't make any sense and is almost always the sign of a sock. That, coupled with User:NuclearWarfare/Mark-blocked script.js and the Editor Interaction Analyzer are the greatest storytellers. The articles linked above don't seem to have many recent edits, so that's odd as well. I don't think I'm saying anything new, though. The real trick is setting up a CU case. It's been a number of months--everything may have gone stale by now. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:49, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi SpacemanSpiff
Could I please ask you to deal with the latest sockpuyppet of User:Jschauhan which is User:Jscaligarh2016 - sorry I am off out now, so I can't go through the whole SPI/ANI procedure. Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 10:12, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

CyberBrinda ANI

Hi SS, I responded to the ANI re: CyberBrinda. The user has been ignoring talk page comments and has taken up a victim stance. Just to give them maximum fairness, I'll be abstaining from any adminning here. The report is at risk of going stale and getting archived, so if you had any thoughts (and maybe you don't), I'm just giving you a heads-up. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:30, 29 September 2016 (UTC)

I'll look at it, I think I'll probably do a final warning or something for now but it doesn't look like it's going to get any interest at ANI. —SpacemanSpiff 04:33, 29 September 2016 (UTC)

New trivia

I think you should be made aware of this new trivia category of articles that might sprout out if not curbed now. See Template:Did you know nominations/Jhabua-Ratlam Lok Sabha constituency by-election, 2015. What is your opinion on the notability of this topic? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 09:45, 29 September 2016 (UTC)

We do love trivia here, just see the above section relating to aspiring models. —SpacemanSpiff 10:51, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
Anyways.... on a different note, there is a new article India and state-sponsored terrorism which is seeing many reverts to and fro and seems like not many experienced editors are dealing there. Many seem to have have edit counts in hundreds only. I am not aware of the procedures to follow by which the article would be tagged under ‎WP:ARBIPA. There should be some relevant notice on talk page and some newbies should be made aware of this with standard template warning. Can you please do it? Or show me how it is done? Am I, a non-admin, allowed to do it? Pinging @Vanamonde93: as he is also involved. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 05:45, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
I'm not entirely sure, I think there's some sort of template that non-admins can use to flag a talk page, Sitush might know. Sanctions templates should only be used by admins enforcing an action under discretionary sanctions though. I don't dabble in India-Pak activity as an editor or as an admin (there's enough other stuff to make me lose my sanity, no need to add this to the list) but NeilN may be able to help as an admin in this area. Finally, this sanction may also be applicable for this article, check with Lord Roem maybe? cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 10:38, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
I thought anyone could use {{subst:alert|ipa}} - Bishonen has been encouraging me to do so when it seems timely. - Sitush (talk) 11:23, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
Oh, sorry, you meant an article talk page? There is a template for caste - see Talk:Nair, for example - but I'm not sure if it can be used more generally. - Sitush (talk) 11:25, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
Isn't that the user talk one? DD was asking for Talk: namespace templates. —SpacemanSpiff 11:27, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
Yes, the subst'ed one is for user talk. - Sitush (talk) 11:40, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
{{Ds/talk notice|ipa|long}} I've seen non-admins add these notices to talk pages as they don't enforce any kind of editing restriction, only warn that they might be implemented. --NeilN talk to me 11:56, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
Indeed, and it's helpful for the admins when they do. Bishonen | talk 14:41, 30 September 2016 (UTC).
