Congrats :) Hope to see more featured material. Aaroncrick (talk) Review me! 10:39, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, getting List of India women ODI cricketers there soon, got a few minor fixes to complete. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 16:21, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

sorry, spiff

Sorry, I kind of last track, and didn't check higher up on my talk page. That second paragraph, it needs a reference--right now they sound like your judgments. As for dashes, the 1938 example is better done slightly differently ("a promise made to his dying uncle in 1938, and translated..."). The second colon is fine. The third ("complete insight") is fine also (but look at the rest of the sentence: "lead" should be "led"). BTW, this IS the paragraph that needs to sound like these are critics' remarks. You can always say "critics praise him for" or some such thing, as long as you provide a reference for all the individual claims. Do that paragraph like you did the first, third, and fourth of that same section, and then, I think, we can sign off on this. Drmies (talk) 19:39, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

For clarity, I'll address the points individually:
  • Reference - It's all from the one reference to Lahiri's article in the BLR.
  • 1938 - done.
  • lead - duh!
  • Attribution - the entire passage is attributed to Lahiri, and I've fixed that. Also, since all these are attributed to Lahiri's article, I don't think each sentence needs to be referenced, right?
Thanks, let me know if something else looks odd/judgmental. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 20:27, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
If they are all referenced by the same article, then yes, one is enough. I'll go over it one more time tonight. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 22:24, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello. Only just back after a few days away. Sorry I didn't get back to the FLC before I left, but pleased to see the list got promoted anyway. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:01, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Congratulations on your GA. You may have noticed that your userboxes are completely messed up--I'm sorry about that. Nice work, Spiff--keep it up! Drmies (talk) 04:51, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! I just saw the above messages and left a note on your TP. You've been a really patient reviewer! BTW, I think it's time for Arianne to make way for Jenna for a while. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 04:55, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Good job!

Spliff, I was very impressed with your collegial approach and enthusiastic efforts on bringing the R.K.Narayan article up to Dutch standards. Kudos. And nice new message page. ChildofMidnight (talk) 16:43, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks; I understand that the good doc doesn't like this page any more because I swapped a European model for an American. To please him I've change to a "semi-European" now. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 18:00, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
It can be challenging sometimes to please everyone and maintain political correctness. I respect your good faith efforts in that respect. ChildofMidnight (talk) 21:27, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

RE: Edit conflict

Spooky! Incidentally, how on earth do you have that contraption that confronted me upon trying to leave you a message? Have to say, don't need coffee after that! SGGH ping! 18:40, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I filled in the infobox et al, go grab a cuppa, come back to my desk and add some text, save, and I see the EC notice, and look through the history, you've had five edits or so! It's good for these ignored cricketers that they now have ECs! As for the edit notice, it's here, if you wish to use it, feel free to copy and modify. It seems to attract more people than anything I do around here! cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 18:58, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

Thansk for changing the name of Elara back to where it should be.Taprobanus (talk) 23:39, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I forgot to do that when I noticed the Chola Dynasty move. I had the other pages on my move back list but completely forgot, remembered only now when I went back to the Chola article. I also moved back Ampara. I guess the Tamil name is Amparai, but in English, I found more reliable source usage for Ampara and not Amparai. Check that out too. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 23:41, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi nerd

Would you please explain why what I wrote is disruptive but "Akbar is also the AI Personality of India in the renowned game Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties."

Are you gonna tell me that Age of Empires III is more culturally relevant than Matt Groening?

Or this:

"In Kunal Basu's The Miniaturist, the story revolves around a young painter during Akbar's time who paints his own version of the Akbarnama'"

None of that is cited; it is much less relevant than "Akbar and Jeff" is. How do I insert the Akbar and Jeff reference without getting a million angry nerds on my ass? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.35.117.254 (talk) 06:20, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

As you've already replied on your talk page to another poster about your problem, please refrain from posting when you're inebriated. As for this, provide a reliable source that links the two, and we can have a discussion, else, you should be in for a block pretty soon, your talk page is pretty filled up with final warnings. I'll refrain from posting another warning. -SpacemanSpiff 06:24, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

hello

Please do not engage in reverts. If you have something to contribute please air it on the talk page. Nemonoman was incorrect in deleting large swathes of sourced material. Please look at the talk page to understand this. Thanks. More random musing (talk) 16:00, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Actually, you are the one that's in the wrong, as more than four editors have put forth to you on the article talk page. This form of tendentious editing and ownership issues is likely to get you a topic ban or blocked. -SpacemanSpiff 17:10, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Please see the references that I have added in today and pay a bit more attention to what the wikipedia policy is and what is being discussed on the talk page. Some editors ganging against me which includes you does not mean I am wrong. More random musing (talk) 17:36, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
You're on your fourth revert today, so good luck with that! Before you ask me to pay attention to policy, I'd suggest you do. Five editors have advised you to do just that. -SpacemanSpiff 17:41, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
Left a comment at your AN3 report. -SpacemanSpiff 18:59, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

I prefer the films (and film stars) and literature. Plus that subject is obviously notable. Not enough excitement and too much attention to detail. :) Good luck! ChildofMidnight (talk) 05:13, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

If that's going to be your taste in Tamil cinema then I'm not sure you can be helped. But having posted on your TP today and having it on my watchlist, I think you might find this quite calming. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 06:43, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks a lot

Thanks a lot for reverting vandalism in Iyer article. You've also done a good job with Sivakasi riots article. I need a PD-image of R. K. Narayan for the infobox in Iyer article. Could you help me? I'm also working with V. S. Srinivasa Sastri article in order to take it to GA. You may very well join me with pieces of info or PD pictures. Thanks.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 06:29, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

I'm struggling to find images for Narayan. I need a couple more to take the article to FAC! Also, looking for images of M. S. Subbulakshmi as I plan on taking that to GA soon. I'm not really familiar with Srinivasa Sastri, so I don't think I can add much value there, but I'll definitely let you know if I find free images of Narayan (there's one in the article right now, but it can't really be used in an infobox). cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 07:17, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

DYK for Denise Annetts

Updated DYK query On November 11, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Denise Annetts, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

I've tagged the talk page as {{g8-exempt}} and put a notice at the top of the talk page to preserve it, noting the pending deletion review. I've also echoed my last comment, including a link to WP:DRV, on the editor's user talk page. That should suffice. —C.Fred (talk) 19:50, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Yup, that should be good enough. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 20:01, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

R. K. Narayan

Hi. I've suddenly got busy in real life and can't get to the review. I did read the article and have a few comments that I'll try to put down when I have some time (I was impressed by the diff from July 5th!) but it does seem to read well overall. Most of my issues are straightforward (a rewrite here or there). Don't wait for me and apologies! --RegentsPark (sticks and stones) 20:45, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

No worries, looks like there are still some issues to flesh out (I asked for feedback from a couple of FAC regulars), so I'll need to address those before closing the PR (and I see that taking a while, since sourcing for those points isn't exactly easy to come by). cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 20:49, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Elections

Hi Spaceman.. I am looking for some help to enter the "runner-ups" in Tamil Nadu election articles. I would greatly appreciate if you can help with that. I know it is boring and laborious. Even if you could help with one election, that will be of great help. nice picture there. :) --CarTick 18:55, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

I'll do something on it this evening, I'm a bit caught up with some changes to an FL candidate right now. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 19:48, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
I just looked at this, what format do you have your results in? If you can import it to Excel, then there's an easy way to convert the excel file to a wikitable. If your results are in some format that can be copied to excel, this can be made into a very easy task. -SpacemanSpiff 19:53, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
PDF.pls see here. --CarTick 19:55, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
A little more painful than I though, I did it for Tamil Nadu state assembly election, 1967. I goofed up on the formula on excel, so part of it is missing, will fix that. check it out and let me know. -SpacemanSpiff 15:29, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks a lot. looks good so far.. --CarTick 15:41, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

BTW, I have created {{DMK-politician-stub}} and the associated cats. Will create AIADMK too. Do PMK and MDMK need stub types? -SpacemanSpiff 23:19, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

good idea. You can make a Tamil Nadu politician stub for small party politicians instead. --CarTick 23:22, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Go ahead and use the following for now:
Will create the TN one later, this should keep us busy for a while. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 23:34, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
i had noticed this. thx.. --CarTick 04:38, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
comment there then :) I finished categorizing the 1980 elections list to the stub types. Congress chaps need to be categorized still. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 04:41, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
sorry. I am missing something. pls clarify. --CarTick 05:04, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
The talkback was for the "Unsorted Stub types" section below. That was the TB link :) Since the threshold is apparently a min of 60 per stub, I went ahead and categorized all the 1980 MLAs from DMK/AIADMK using the stub type. Anyways, the discussion link for the stub review is below in that section. cheers-SpacemanSpiff 05:07, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

I took another look at the TP today, and quite honestly, I really don't know enough about the issues with the displays etc to make sensible comment. In my own little wikiworld, the change you did helped, but I have no opinion otherwise. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 21:47, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Unproposed stub types

Greetings! I see you have recently created one or more new stub templates or categories. As it states at Wikipedia:Stub, at the top of most stub categories, and in many other places on Wikipedia, it is recommended that new stub types be proposed prior to creation at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals. This helps to reach consensus about whether the new stub type is already covered by existing stub types, whether it is named according to stub naming guidelines, whether it is otherwise correctly formatted, whether it reaches the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, and whether it crosses existing stub type hierarchies. Your new stub type is currently listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Discoveries, where comments are welcome as to any rationale for this stub type. Please, in future, consider proposing new stub types first at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals! This message is a boilerplate, left here as a courtesy, and should not be considered personal in nature. Grutness...wha? 01:27, 14 November 2009 (UTC) (PS - nice pics! :)

I'll reply at the discussion. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 01:46, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Khatris

Many Khatris joined the Ramgarhia cavalry unit, along with Sikh Rajputs, Jats, Lohars, Gujjars, Kambojs, Tarkhan (Punjab) , under Baron Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, and came to be known as Ramgarhias.Khatris actually have ethnic and ancestral relation with Jats, Tarkhan, Rajputs, Gujjars, Kambojs, Labana, Lohars, Ravidasia, Ramdasia, Chura, Mazhabi tribes. And they share they share surnames with each other. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.161.221.44 (talk) 06:48, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

You need to show that by adding references to reliable sources. All you're doing right now is removing sourced content and adding your opinion, and that is vandalism. You have been doing this for long, IP hopping after your username was blocked. So please stop. -SpacemanSpiff 06:51, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

please do not remove the page or revert. leave a proposal in 'talk' for removal

If you can, please add names of Tamil linguists to Tamil linguists. I will add some names and do some edits in later days. The problem to add their names to the general list is that some notable linguists may be irrelevant to the English WP. However, rather than no page, an alternative page is a good thing.Arvind Arokara (talk) 19:17, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Another day, if this remains unsourced, I'm taking it for deletion. -SpacemanSpiff 19:23, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Why are you re-adding unsourced claims?

You reverted my edits, re-adding an unsourced claim, even after I had pointed out that it was unsourced. You said I should discuss it on the talk page. What in the world is there to discuss? There is no source given. Therefore, according to WP policies, it should be deleted. If Dr Enh wants to give an reason why WP should be ignored, then he should put that on the talk page.Heqwm2 (talk) 03:22, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

I would suggest you read WP:OR first, and also stop claiming that content doesn't have sources because those sources contradict your POV. -SpacemanSpiff 04:20, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Translation question

Hi, I gathered from your comments at WP:PNT and read on your userpage that you are a native speaker of Tamil. I'd like to create a template:Contrib-ta1 template to add to userpages of people who create pages in Tamil on the English wikipedia as a expansion of the notenglish tag. It would contain the following text in English and Tamil: Please do not contribute text in Tamil to the English Wikipedia. Your contributions are more than welcome at the Tamil Wikipedia. Could you please translate this sentence into Tamil? Jarkeld (talk) 01:56, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Strong terms like "do not contribute" don't translate very well in a templated message, so here's a slightly different version. This means "Hello, Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia written in multiple languages. This is the English language Wikipedia, if you wish to contribute or read in Tamil, you can use Tamil Wikipedia. Thank you." ("use" is the translation, but it's used for "visit website" too)

Error: No text given for quotation (or equals sign used in the actual argument to an unnamed parameter)

Hope this helps. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 02:59, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for the translation! Btw: your version of the English text is better than the original. Thanks! Jarkeld (talk) 03:11, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Oops, there was a typo. Should read as ஆங்கில, not அங்கில. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 03:18, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

RE:Bot

Hi SS, I had written a AWB plug-in for this purpose. You can check it out at WP:CSV. You can create a CSV file with the details, and bot would read the file and create the articles. Tinu had used it for adding Indian village articles and can let you know the experience of using it. This way we do not have to write new programs for each kind of upload. The CSV loader is a generic program that takes any data file to create articles. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 01:35, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Ok, thanks, that should make life easier. I'll let CarTick know too, since he's the content man on this. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 04:54, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
noted. not sure i understood. will look at it later. --CarTick 11:18, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
Similar to what I had suggested on WT:INB, the AWB script eases your troubles in creating multiple politician articles (have a template for the article that will feeed off the variables uploaded in a CSV). Also, this should solve the election results table issues too. -SpacemanSpiff 14:53, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

Lavang latika

You had mistaken kheer kodom (or kheer kadam for non-Bengalis) for lavanga latika. I posted pics of kheer kodom, [5], [6] and [7]. Lavanga latika will follow... Paalappoo (talk) 07:49, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Hmmm, I still think of lavang latika as a round maida ball with coconut and clove filling, maybe in Trivandrum they have a different name ;) Good pics. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 08:00, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! Kheer kodom is a dark coloured rasgulla, with shredded sandesh as coating. No maida or coconut is added. I have never seen such sweets in TVM. Maybe, they are available now, in the new shops that have come up. Lavanga latika was like fried puff pastry, with a little coconut filling, served in warm sugar syrup. I had it at a street-side food stall, at the north end of Fashion Street. Paalappoo (talk) 08:11, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Ok, now I guess I was mistaken, the puff pastry piece gave me the clue! It's been ages since I had these sweets, so I guess I got confused completely. I thought you were in TVM, and could get pictures of south Indian food stuff, if you're in Bombay, then I guess it's only the "famous" stuff that you can get pics off. I was going to expand the article on Aviyal sometime, if you can get a pic of that, it'll be good. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 08:18, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
I am a native of TVM. I still can get pics of South Indian food. (I am a puttu-kadala mallu :)...) Shall post avial pic, when I make it next. Paalappoo (talk) 08:29, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

I have added some details. Please check whether it is violating the wikipedia rules and regulations.EconomicTiger (talk) 08:26, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Seems fine, any particular reason you're asking me? cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 08:28, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

I don't know much about this, I first heard of it at the AfD, haven't found anything since then. Some of the content is suspect though -- I created the page for L. Vaidyanathan, and I know that he died in 2007, so he can't be composing the music for this film. I haven't heard of the production house (could just be new)... I'll take a look again and see what I can do. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 21:39, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Don't know what to make of it, I went back and checked the movie announcement on The Hindu and saw this, the same newspaper that published his obituary two years back! -SpacemanSpiff 21:48, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
Had an edit conflict as I was about to share that exact same article with you. The article precedes the man's death. I might suppose his work had been completed and they are attributing it to him posthumusly. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 21:55, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
A much more recent article [8] states "Veteran composer Sri L. Vaidyanathan, who has composed music for famous TV serial “Malgudi days” and Movie “Pushpaka vimanam” has composed music to this movie." Still in past tense "has". Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 22:06, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
That is the same L. Vaidyanathan then, but how do you do the score for an animation film before filming starts? I guess I'm not questioning the article anymore, rather questioning the sources. Eitherways, appears to be notable enough to pass NFF, let me see if I find something further to add. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 22:16, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
What would seem logical to me is that Vaidyanathan created 5 original compositions for the film even as it was in early production. Having songs from a reknowned musician, the director would have been crazy to not use them. He's obviously proud to use them and have Vaidyanathan credited. The "Epic of Ramayna" sung by Lava Kusas in the court of Rama is vocalized by Sadhana Sargam and Chitra. The Song in praise of Hanuman is voiced by S. Mahadevan. The song of Valmiki sung in praise of Rama is voiced by K.J. Yesudas. Lyricist V.S. Ramamurthy is well involved as well. Even with the untimely loss of Vaidyanathan, they had a lot with which to continue work. A paralell might be the death of John Candy during the filming of Wagons East. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 01:44, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
That would be Shankar Mahadevan. You could possibly wrap these singers in one sentence and add it, not sure how to do it without giving it a listy feel. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 03:23, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
No doubt we can include them in the music soundtrack later, as it seems nearly every Indian film releases a soundtrack. However, as now added they do not seem too listy. Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 07:19, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Looks good. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 07:49, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Reasearch into the film has been quite educational. I can only hope readers follow the wikilinks to Lava (Ramayana), Kusha (Ramayana), Ramayana, Valmiki, Dharma, Rama, Mata Sita, and Ayodhya to educate themselves with the richness of the cultural history that inspired the film's creation. Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 20:00, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Re:Reddy

Have watchlisted the page. Can semi-protect it if the IP keeps returning. The Iyer situation seems to be on a simmer, but will keep a watch. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 00:59, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Just realized that the IP at Reddy is static. I have left it a warning and will block if the disruption continues. Abecedare (talk) 01:10, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
Given the flurry of the Kashmir conflict posts above, I didn't notice this post! Yeah, I noticed that when RP blocked it for a week sometime back. Yeah, the Iyer thing is less troublesome, but I just noticed it because it was the same edit that CarTick found to be dubious (on his TP) when he didn't really care, and on closer look, it was a copyvio with selective quoting. For NP - 1 and 2. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 01:18, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

The Cricket Star
For your contributions to Indian woman cricket articles. Redtigerxyz Talk 06:11, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
Note: while the picture that jumps out when one edits your talk may be eye candy for some, it may not suitable for viewing by all. I suggest you change to more neutral (appropriate) picture. --Redtigerxyz Talk 06:11, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 06:25, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
P.S. On the image, I choose pictures that are sensual but not sexual, and those that are or have been used in articles; thereby nothing different on my TP compared to en.wiki in general. Thanks for the feedback on that, I will keep it in mind if more of my talk page posters have similar sentiments. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 06:25, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
I agree that the images are artistic nudes, not overtly sexual, and there is no policy reason preventing you from keeping them. In particular, no kid will be "hurt" by viewing them, so in my mind there is no age-appropriate concern. That said, it's worth considering:
  1. Do the images help/hurt counter wikipedia's systemic bias that discourages women editors from participating in greater numbers ?
  2. The PETA ads are pretty smart, witty and effective vehicles for their message. But once one removes that context, isn't the image use just gratuitous objectification ? In general, isn't appropriate use defined by the context ?
To be frank, this is not a big deal for me, since I suspect almost all editors on wikipedia would have seen worse (or better depedning upon ones viewpoint), but I just happened to evesdropped on Red's comment, and thought I'd add my 2 cents. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 06:42, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
I don't necessarily agree with #2, but eitherways, by whatever coincidence, the PETA images were all tagged for deletion yesterday as an invalid OTRS ticket, so they'll be gone in a few hours and I'll be back to having a bland edit notice. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 15:13, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

<--Spiff, I hate disagreeing with you, but I do believe Abecedare has a point at #2. I hadn't thought about it, being a sexist pig myself, but it's a very valid argument. Sorry pal, Drmies (talk) 15:10, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Ah, tyranny of the majority, I have philosophical disagreements on the context of objectification, but that is a topic more suited to my blog and not this talk page. All said, my talk page has to be a comfortable place for those who post here, and you both have provided persuasive arguments on the perception of objectification, so poor Alicia will do a disappearing act before she gets banished from Commons for a licensing infraction. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 18:05, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
Drmies, I had sent this email to Spaceman yesterday:

Re-reading my earlier message on your talkpage, I see that it comes off as harsh and critical, instead of just being a set of intellectually intriguing questions (which was my intention). I obviously got the tone wrong and apologize for that.

To be honest, though I was indifferent to the images themselves, I quite enjoyed the bonhomous patter between Drmies and you about them.

In particular, while I still stand by the point about context, my use of the word "objectification" was too strong for the circumstances, since that is hardly the only possible, or even likely, motive for using the images outside the PETA ads. Not sure whom I am dis/agreeing with at this point, but there. :-) Abecedare (talk) 18:44, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
I didn't agree with it being "objectification", but there definitely can be a "perception" that it is; more often than not, what's perceived is different from what was intended (the tyranny of the majority analogy), and given that, I was persuaded by both your arguments. Like I mentioned in my reply, I didn't really think of this as harsh or critical, just an expression of disagreement. Philosophically, perhaps we view this differently, but it's quite simple that what's intended isn't what's perceived in such scenarios, so best to avoid the situation completely! cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 19:41, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Kashmir conflict

Mughalnz (talk)why is miliancy on rise when it is not

the dipusted elction +peaceful protest movment are not militancy (so why are they in miliatncy section and why don;t they get a section they play a role tunderstaning the KAshmir conflict

can u please respond u might did it by accidentMughalnz (talk)

My last edit to the article was this, and it was related to fixing an incorrect title change, the rise of militancy and peaceful protest movement are not connected. I don't have any problem with the Peaceful protest movement getting a separate section if that's supported by sources. I haven't edited the article in over two weeks, so you might be mistaking someone else's edits for mine. -SpacemanSpiff 00:56, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

sorry about that do want to check the section

Disputed elections some one interested in making theses as sections as part of the topics so a consensus on the section can be reached on the topics

up to u man Mughalnz (talk)

Please keep these discussions on the article talk page. If you would like me to participate there, let me know and I'll do so, but I really don't want my talk page to be a discussion spot for content related to the Kashmir conflict. thanks. -SpacemanSpiff 01:06, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Mughalnz (talk)sweet sorry about that manMughalnz (talk)

he man i have opened the discussion on the talk page inKashhmir conflictMughalnz (talk)

I'll take a look later today. When you post here, don't delete previous messages. I have my messages archived, if I want to delete anything from my talk page, I'll do so myself. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 22:38, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

I see you have logged an oppose opinion in my RFA. If my request fails, how long would you recommend I wait before logging another request?--RadioFan (talk) 15:09, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

To level set, I haven't been active on PRODs or AfD for a while so I haven't seen your activity in detail out there recently. However, the Astronomy org PRODs and another interaction at an AfD where you asked for something, and then did not act or respond once that was done were actions that I'm not comfortable with, especially for someone with access to the delete button. SoWhy's diffs/links show that this hasn't changed; I'm not questioning your intent, but these are misunderstandings of our guidelines. Given that, I'd really like to see a significant reduction in incorrect taggings, an ability to change your mind when evidence on notability is provided, and also some activity on the "keep" side at AfD. If this happens for a sustained level of time and I'd say 3-4 months at least. Hope this helps. Good luck. -SpacemanSpiff 15:27, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification. I'll do my best. Also can you expand on "incorrect taggings" are you referring specifically to AFD and PROD or would that incorporate tags like {{unreferenced}}?--RadioFan (talk) 15:53, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
I am specifically referring to CSD/PROD/XfD tagging. I have not looked at other taggings to provide you an opinion. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 17:04, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

What say you? I thought for a minute that you were welcoming everyone to your talk page with a message to me. But I'm thinking you figured out how to personalize the talkpage message? Very cool! ChildofMidnight (talk) 04:14, 28 November 2009 (UTC) And what about Marimallappa? ChildofMidnight (talk) 04:14, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

The first one I don't know. One of his Malayalam language books is available at US libraries, including LoC. I haven't found anything else. Likely some Malayalam sources might be available, User:Paalappoo might be able to help on that, I can't read or write the lingo. Second one, it's not a hoax, some gbooks sources exist but not in great detail. About the edu trust in 1927, the person is included in these books -- [9], [10], [11]. Likely notable, but can't find any real sources. Will search again when I feel lucky. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 06:05, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for having a look. I appreciate it. ChildofMidnight (talk) 19:21, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

reply to cfd query

Well I figure if the Afd is closed delete, we can just speedy the other categories. But if that is not how the process works, please feel free to Cfd both, I would support a deletion of any caste category.Pectoretalk 18:22, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Technically the two people categories are similar to this one, the other ones are to group sub castes / clans and other topics (although quite often people get classified there) under the major caste. The people categories IMO deserve to go, while the grouping of sub castes is probably a valid cat, given the number of sub-castes under each of those, (I think the Jat clan cat had something like 200 under it and it seems quite valid from categorizing the clans. I'm open to a rethink though. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 18:39, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Actually, Jat is technically an ethnicity so perhaps that stays. Hindi speaking North India lacks clear ethnic identities sometimes, so Jat people and Marwari people and others function as ethnicities in that sense, though they are castelike in appearance. Obviously categorizing clan names is a valid use of the category.Pectoretalk 03:46, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Hey. Just came across the lack of updating on this, and noticed that the nom had disappeared; no edits since Nov 8. What I'd do in this case is just give this article a full review now and pass or fail; put it on hold only if there's a couple minor things that another editor could fix. Wizardman 03:49, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

The problem I have with this is that I don't have access to the books to check on the concerns that have already been expressed. This is also a drive-by nomination and the two editors who actually worked on the article have now retired. I'd checked with YellowMonkey to see what should be done here, and he suggested the same thing. I'll try to find someone to take over as the nominator, if not, it'll probably be a fail, since none of the issues regarding referencing have been addressed (from the FA review). cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 03:59, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Kerala Forest Research Institute

Could you please take a look at my latest version of Kerala Forest Research Institute? Eastmain (talk) 01:54, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Oh, I didn't realize that you went through this once before on this article. I checked the revisions that showed up on the screen and stopped at that after looking at the talk page, seems fine now. I think deleting the copyvio history should be sufficient now, thanks for alerting me on this. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 01:58, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Re

Nah. "I was here months ago and worked quite a while on GAs and articles but forgot my user name and password so I reregistered." Very interesting and convenient - appears to be a blocked editor. Do you know of a previous editor that has been blocked doing similar things before? Aaroncrick (talk) Review me! 23:31, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Don't know really, I've been following GAN for a couple of months only, so I have no background info. But the last one was one of the strangest reviews I've seen. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 23:37, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Was there any reason you removed the Brahmins cat? YellowMonkey (bananabucket) (Invincibles Featured topic drive:one left) 23:41, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
