It's good, if bulky. Being configurably-compactable is neat! The Microsoft sub-template could use some work; it seems like a bin into which a bunch of their products and other corporate information is thrown. At risk of over complicate things, I might consider something like splitting this out into three subtemplates - Business products (Windows Server, System Center, etc), Consumer products (most of their hardware, Desktop Windows, Games, etc), and Corporate Organisation (clumsy title), with corporate/investor/organisation-type information. The Windows Server packages could do with a refresh, too, as could the summaries of the line on some of the article pages; they can come across as something of a mishmash, and rebrands like SpeechServer/LCS/OCS and System Center aren't terribly reflected (or represented at all in this template), and there are some important products missing.. good work. :) njan 19:09, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the late reply, I wasn't online. When in a dispute first thing to do is to make sure no one keeps reverting to their own version. Talk it out first. So, whenever people are pushing their own version, get the article protected. Using WP:RFPP is probably a better option than requesting an admin because the admin might not be online at that time. But if you are sure that s/he is online, personal request will have a quicker response. Keep in mind that protection does not mean endorsement of that version, so if a wrong version is protected (which is always the case, depending on PoV :D) dont mean it cant be changed. If there has been a prior consensus, point that out in the request. The admin will decide if that version has merits to be the protected version. When the article is protected, discuss, preferably on the article talk page. If it does not seem to lead anywhere, call an RfC, invite others to comment and follow the dispute resolution procedure, as Jossi has said.

Regarding the dispute, I am ill suited to make a comment, because I am hardly aware of the subject. But the point made by Kuban kazak (talk · contribs) about breaking consistency seems valid. I am not sure calling it a policy this early is not a good idea. But yeah having something to guide in the case of disputes is definitely worth it. IMO, it should be a proposed guideline. Vectorizing request

SVG

Hey, which format do I export in from Inkscape? Stealing your trade secrets (:D), I downloaded Inkscape yesterday and drew something, which is rendering fine in Inkscape, and also exporting fine as a raster image. Well, one thing MediaWiki really hates is flowed text. Try not to use it that much, use regular text boxes. Also, remember to set the page size to the same as your drawing's size. Your idea sounds fine. If anything like that happens, there are always details to work out, such as the exact name, etc. Do we want one per week? Or, if 3 months is too long, how about a slate of several people each month? Do we want minimum requirements so as not to disappoint editors (such as 250 quality edits, with the candidate or nominator determining himself/herself what is a "quality" edit. Article merges (Windows Server domain into Active Directory)

I've been thinking about this subect, too. The thing is, Windows Server domains in NT 3 and 4 have nothing to do with Active Directory, and Active Directory Application Mode has nothing to do with Windows Server domains. Another approach would be to rename "Windows Server domain" to "Windows NT domain" and focus the article on the earlier domain model.

On the same subject, maybe we should also be looking at merging the various articles on domain controllers and FSMOs and that kind of thing. -/- Warren 19:23, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Something needs to be done with them, for sure, and Soumyash's comments on the talk page do have a certain logic to them - actually, there is no NT Domain Article, something I hadn't realised. I think refactoring the Windows Server domain article as an NT Domain article and positioning it to sit alongside the Active Directory article as a companion isn't a bad idea.

I'm less sure about some of those. I think some articles, like the FSMO one, benefit from being independent. The Domain Controller article certainly seems a little stub-like and should either be fleshed out or merged. njan 19:49, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Separating NT domains out seems like a good idea. And Active Directory is used for a lot of things, may be separating out the various roles might help go deeper into each. As for domain controllers, well, there were primary domain controllers and backup controllers, but that got deprecated. Now read only controllers are back again. So, it can have significant stuff. Let me correct this: a Mahakuma (মহকুমা) is a subdivision of a district. [2]. A Kachari কাছারি is a court of justice, a law court; a magistrate's court, a kachhari, a cutcherry; an office; a zamindar's (জমিদারের) or a feudal lord's court and office. [3]. Reed Tucker

Whats up with deleting the Reed Tucker page? He is actually a real guy. He's the useless producer of the Lazlow Show. (lazlow dot com)

While the biography is a little comedic it does have truth to it.
