Curious re: an article marked for deletionGood evening, It has been awhile since I have been here. School and family life has been a killer this year. However, I am trying to get some editors involved in a discussion regarding an article marked for deletion. As I was the creator of the article I would like the recruits to be people other than those that I have actually had contact with and not really sure how do do this but thought that if I could tell a few editors and then they could tell other editors that way it wouldn't be a biased set of people getting involved. Anyhow if you might want to take part the discussion is located at Patrick article marked for deletion It has been relisted twice due to lack of participation and any input would be appreciated. Let's just say that "rollback" button is my worst foe; it happens to get "clicked" accidentally all too often. I'm almost to a point where I'm thinking of asking for that right to be revoked, given the fact that I know the "other" way to perform "rollbacks" that doesn't require the rollback function. I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular. The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered. If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.) If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. Adjusting pilot start date - WP:Co-op Hello Soni, I'll be putting out a formal update sometime soon, but I wanted to inform you that I've decided to push our start date back to mid-February rather than in January. There are number of reasons for this, but the biggest factor is that we are now facing the hard work of implementing our designs on the Mediawiki interface. It's a limiting environment to work with from a web-building perspective, and the team that worked on the Teahouse can offer similar testimonials to these challenges. We also want to make sure there is time for us and for you to test the environment out, ask questions at our project's talk page, and give us a little time to make any last changes before we start inviting editors to the space. If some of you know you will be unavailable during this time, it's totally fine if you need to bow out for the pilot. Tijuana TerminalHello, I tried to submit information on the Tijuana Cross-border terminal. Started the project in 1990 and was the project manager in Mexico. I started with a Rnieders sandbox and now I have noticed that all the images I had submitted have been deleted by Stefan2 as he claimed they were not fair use. 3 of the images belong to me, the others came from public organizations, such as the City of San Diego, The San Diego Association of Governments and the Mexican government and the images were central to telling the history and development of the project, as visual images are less subject to interpretation than written explanations of an image. How can I correct the issues so that I can reintroduce the pictures as mots of this information I obtained while a project manager and negotiator on the project. thank you Rnieders (talk) 04:19, 25 August 2014 (UTC) |
