Please always have a look on this article. Here some users/fans are removing the content written with reliable sources and is removing film's box office gross data. 2409:40F3:1004:CF34:74AF:67FF:FEFC:93C9 (talk) 16:44, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:15, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Cenderabird I'm not seeing anything obvious. Feel free to tag the article(s) with Template:Cleanup rewrite and specify your concerns in the tag.   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 13:11, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mossbourne IP

Hey there,

I don't *think* the Mossbourne allegations section blanking IP is a COI case - the IP traces to Rochdale, pretty much the other end of the country. The allegations have recieved a fairly large amount of coverage, my guess would be they're coming from that. That being said, we'll see how it pans out - could well turn out to be some sort of COI. CR (talk) 21:47, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@CipherRephic Where they are is difficult to say. Three different locations from three different geolocators and their ISP has a mobile partner.   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 22:45, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
True, yeah. At the end of the day it's the editing behaviour that matters - blanking the section is unjustified whether they're a school employee or someone completely removed from the subject. CR (talk) 22:49, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what can be done there, the entire article is already tagged as being too promotional. Perhaps an admin like @JBW: can advise?   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 19:07, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
From a very quick look, the way it looks to me is as follows. Indeed there is unacceptable promotional content, although it looks as though the recent IP editing has improved it to some extent. Much of the content of the article is also unsourced. For both of those reasons, it seems to me that heavy pruning of the article would be justified. However, there's nothing there that requires an administrator: the clean up could just as well be done by you, or the IP editor, or the person who put the drive-by promotion tag and then went away and left it, or anyone else willing to put in the necessary time. JBW (talk) 19:22, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@JBW I was just looking for input regarding how an ordinary editor could improve the article and you provided; thanks. Rewriting for neutrality looks to extensive for me, though.   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 19:34, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. It's fairly easy to clean up an article with just a little promotional content, but ones with extensive promotional material can be a daunting task. That can have the unfortunate effect that the ones most in need of clean up are the ones least likely to get it. Occasionally it's possible to revert to a non-promotional version from long ago ago, but that tends to be a drastic option, as it is likely to throw out good edits along with the bad. However, it may be worth a look at the article's history to see whether that option is possible. Another possibility is to just ruthlessly remove large chunks of the article which look mostly bad, and accept possible collateral loss of good content as a cost that has to be paid. In my experience, though, that approach has more risk of just being reverted than other methods. JBW (talk) 20:03, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Help Needed

Hello Skywatcher68, Need your help to stop a Wikipedia page from getting delated it is one I think you have looked at already called “The Lost Mountaineers” about a documentary someone has nominated it deletion and the we don’t know how to go about contesting this. Any assistance you might be able to give would be very much appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.34.232.180 (talk) 22:28, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

True, I have edited that article but only for manual of style purposes; I don't really have an opinion on the subject. However, it appears that the main sticking point of the deletion discussion is a lack of notability; adding reliable sources which are about the making of the documentary rather than the events depicted therein should help. I'm only able to find sources about screenings of the film rather than the film itself.   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 14:48, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
