Your speedy tagging of The Cat Who Went Bananas

Hi. Just wanted to let you know that I corrected the speedy tag you placed on the article from A7 to G12, as G12 is the most appropriate tag for the article. ArcAngel (talk) 07:41, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

True. the bot and I crossed paths. thanks. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 07:42, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for helping out with the AfC project, experienced editors are always welcome! I just wanted to remind you not to bite the newcomers, though. While it may have been true, your comment on that page saying "No matter what you do, this is bound to fail notaility" isn't very welcoming or friendly. Some of the parameters for the template are a good place to start, thanks. ~ Amory (utc) 15:11, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to keep that in mind. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 16:57, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Seb. I've changed the nomination rationale to {{db-test}}, as I don't consider the text "nub" as an example of pure vandalism. We can apply also {{db-nocontent}} in this case. --Vejvančický (talk) 09:44, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

re: Your Message

Hi Seb, I've left you a reply on my talk page -- Marek.69 talk 23:50, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Seb, regarding your message at User talk:Rjanag#Hey... are you still thinking of using a bot to replace apostrophes with glottal stops on Navajo WP? I think this could be done pretty easily with the pywikipedia package (what ZhBot uses); you would have to set up a bot account at nv-wiki, and I could guide you through how to install Python and pywikipedia on your computer. The main thing is figuring out a regular expression to do the replacements properly. Is there a reliable way to know when a symbol should be a glottal stop symbol and when it really should be an apostrophe? (since we don't want to replace actual apostrophes and single quotes, I assume.) For example, if glottal stops are only in the middle of words, the bot could be made to only replace apostrophes with letter characters on each side, and ignore ones that are adjacent to whitespace. Such a regex (along with the command line input to run the script) would look like

-replace.py -start -regex "(?P\w)'(?P\w)" "\1ʼ\2"

Translated into plain English, that basically says 1) run the script replace.py, 2) scan all pages on the wiki, starting from the beginning; 3) use regular expressions; 4) find any apostrophe with a letter character on each side; 3) replace it with a glottal stop sign.rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 02:17, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(see below; glottals are also at the end of words, and that's where trouble starts:P)
yepp, you nailed it. everything except for Italic- and Bold-markings needs to be replaced (whch also includes glottals at the end of a word). For now, activity is very low, and my faithful co-admin has done basically everything manually, so there's no rush. Once I've found some unambiguous formula, I'll let you know. It's probably something like "if apostrophe with no other apostrophe(s) adjacent to it, then replace". Thanks for getting back to me. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 02:22, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hm...so basically, not making replacements at the end of a word, or when there are any apostrophes adjacent. I'll have to do some brainstorming about how to do that. It will still miss a lot, though, that will need to be done manually (glottal stops at the end of words, or next to single quotes). rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 12:34, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Or... if you know of any database or corpus that has most of the Navajo lexicon, there may be a way to do whole-word replacements and thus only replace words that really should have glottal stops. I don't know how to code something like that, but someone else might. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 12:37, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

about navframe exceptions

Thanks for replying my query about having an alternate navframe otpion.Your soultion of using both english and marathi languge with backlash would not be favorite since we have such need only at 2-3 places that too is not very important because people coming from english wiki are already understanding Marathi Words with common sense. We want to be helpfull to interwiki visitors if having indipendat option is easily possible. We need eglish words only at community page header template mr:साचा:समाज मुखपृष्ठ मथळा साचा ,mr:विकिपीडिया:समाज मुखपृष्ठ#Bot policy and welcome template which is being revised at a local sandbox at mr:साचा:धूळपाटीसाचा

South Korea locator map redux

Hey Seb, do you think you could thin the borders in File:Locator map of South Korea2.svg, like you did for File:LocationSouthKorea.svg? Another editor has raised a [pretty vague] complaint about the style of this map, and I think what's bothering him is the thick borders. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 17:50, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can try. I don't think there's any other article on wiki where people are so obsessed with the map... wtf's up with that? Does the whole nation's identity stand and fall based on the colors and style of a fricking wiki-map?? Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 19:29, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This article as a whole is just a terrible place to be. Almost nothing but people edit-warring over what useless scenery pictures to cram in, what 100 boy-bands to list, and filling it up with poorly-referenced self-congratulatory puffery... the talk page is full of readers pointing out that it looks like a government brochure and needs to be totally rewritten. I'm seriously thinking of removing it from my watchlist because it's just such a pain to deal with. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 19:32, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding this edit, I think he was just putting the countries in alphabetical order. Not sure, though. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 21:29, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Anon IP user page?

Hi, your recent participation and mention on Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:75.141.100.115 caught my attention... here's the catch, there's another Anon IP I've just spotted → User:67.180.161.183. Thoughts? --Dave1185 talk 00:34, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nuke it , bring it up @ ANI, needs to create an account. Basically admitting to sockpuppetry, but thinking that's all fine. Let me know if you take it to ANI. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 00:59, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'd just ignore it. The whole thing is totally weird -- the trout could come from fricking anyone... since it's an IP, I wouldn't take it that seriously since it cannot be attributed to a specific user. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 05:49, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Neither version does, but the diff you gave me makes it worse. "Da Vynci" (or whoever) is obviously trying to fudge the description and the criticism into one paragraph. It could be an attempt to either avoid criticism or make that criticism look like it's the only thing there is. Either way, that's not cool. Moving page

Apologies for the confusion. Can you move the page Ves Petersburg to Ves Peterburg. It is a page I orginally created but the title of the page and the book do not match.

I have seen that. Now that you have created the copy-pasted page, we need to wait for that to be deleted, then it can be moved. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 00:50, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help?! What am I doing wrong?!!!! My articles... gone! What are the red boxes?! I don't get it!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by MusicaEsVida (talkcontribs) 04:00, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Huntsville (game) and Magic Pen (software)

I am participating in WP:NEWT and have created multiple notable articles with typos, bad formatting etc. under the alternate account User:MusicaEsVida. These articles are notable as they are software, and software doesn't count under A7, nor did they count under G3 or G1. well... I didn't bite anyone. On the contrary, I was very polite and patient. Since you have two accounts as you claim, you're apparently not a newbie, so my suspicion that someone was playing dumb was justified. You need to be a bit more convincing to appear as a real newbie. No real "newbie" would come up with close-to-retarded questions like that. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 04:39, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Whether or not someone is "playing dumb" you don't need to incorrectly tag articles for CSD. --Coffee // have a cup // ark // 04:45, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help with svg image

Hey Seb, I'm wondering if you could help me with a map I need for the Demerara rebellion of 1823, coloured and converted to svg like the one you did for Urumqi, please? It's the first map showing the disposition of plantations in Georgetown, Demerara on page xxi of this book link. Thanks, Ohconfucius ¡digame! 15:01, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can be done; however, taking a screenshot from googlebooks is a bitch to rip. Any other sources for this map? Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 00:48, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I got it; coastline&rivers are done. It's just that the words/labels are difficult to read from the source file. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 05:19, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just noticed that the word 'Georgetown' should be there, denoting the white patch where there are no estates on the corner by the estuary. Could you add it, please? Ohconfucius ¡digame! 02:41, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Additional request: Could we perhaps have 'Georgetown' in upper case and/or in larger type, please? Also, can you please take 'Success' out of quotes - it looks a bit incongruous. BTW, Success lies between Le Resouvenir and Ch. Margo (source: Pg 115 of this book) Thanks. Ohconfucius ¡digame! 07:09, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request for help, please

Dearest Seb az86556, how are you? I'm wondering if you would be so kind to help translate a very short-stub version of 3-4 sentences of this article for the Tok Pisin Wikipedia? Thank you very much for any advice or help you could offer. I hope to hear from you. Sincerely--Mer De Glace (talk) 04:22, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure... my level is tpi-2, but I can try. It'll take a while, though. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 04:27, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
tpi-2, that's enough. Maybe you are the active wikipedian with the highest Tok level! I can wait, and I hope, you could help. Have a nice day!--Mer De Glace (talk) 04:02, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am aware of the definitions of the two words that you left so condescendingly on my talk page, thank you. However I do not accept your revert my edits to the Sealand Page, while I accept in principle your reverting of my edits to the Principality of Sealand page, you are again wrong in your reverting. So lets take a look at your edits whilst you were misusing Twinkle shall we;

Now the first, outside of the village in Wales, the rest of the world will be referring to The micronation of Sealand. As per WP:DISAMBIG we should attempt to redirect to the most likely article. In this case it is clear and and the page should actually be a redirect to the Principality of Sealand page where a hatnote should and will be placed. The current Sealand page can then be moved to Sealand (disambiguation). A redirect will replace it.

Second edit, Sealand is clearly a micronation. However some, particularly the founders of the micronation and some of their most loyal supporters, clearly believe that it is a microstate, even though it really is not. This is based most likely on the de facto recognition they believe it has received from Germany (if you don't know what im talking about at this point, read the page, you probably should be reverting edits on the page unless they are clearly vandalism). In this case we have to provide NPV in order to be encyclopedic. Both sides must be given on Wikipedia.

There is now a clear explanation for my edits, given to you, if you would like to reply to me, please do so on my talk page. Thank You. Outback the koala (talk) 03:30, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Take it to Talk:Sealand or Talk:Principality of Sealand (my choice would be the latter, but go ahead). Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 04:02, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sure lets do that. Outback the koala (talk) 04:14, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
