User talk:Scottyoak2June 2013Thank you ScottyOak2, I really appreciate your time and efforts. I have read through your suggestions and even though everything in the article is fact and not fabrication clearly the references I have cited are not acceptable to wikipedia. However I did look at your suggestions and I find this under the heading NOTABILITY (MUSIC) CRITERIA FOR COMPOSERS & LYRICISTS 4. "Has written a composition which has won (or in some cases been given a second or other place) in a major music competition not established expressly for newcomers". Then the subject and his brother both fall into this and if nothing else perhaps the page could include this? The Bartlett brothers wrote SONG OF PEACE which was selected for the BBC CHOIRBOY OF THE YEAR (JAMES EAGER) to perform and record on behalf of the BBC in 2002 and was released as a CD single (All proceeds went to the Salvation Army Charity). The CD was aired on CLASSIC FM ( most notable) and BBC RADIO 3 along with the BBC CONCERT ORCHESTRA & THE BBC NATIONAL ORCHESTRA OF WALES. Surely this BBC sponsored competition would fall into the above category? If the subject is not notable for this composition then perhaps the song itself is and a page entitled SONG OF PEACE should appear? He recently got married with journalist Denny Alfonso and our colleagues at Broadway World, Yahoo and Associated Press confirmed the info. hi all, thanks for the welcome and the response. I think I posted a question somewhere (in the community? Or on someones's talk page?) and I might have forgotten to sign it properly, sorry! Anyway, my question was how do I like a term to a Wikipedia article, when it's different from the title of the article I want to link to? Example: in the "Disney Princess" article I wanted to link "Snow White" to the article about the Disney animated feature, and the article is called something like "Snow White (Disney)". I tried copying the way I saw it was done in other cases, but I must have missed something, as it didn't work. Would appreciate your help in this one! Thanks!Disneyess29 (talk) 13:40, 15 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing citations (and a suggestion)Thanks for fixing citations! I appreciate your work. One note: when you remove the "coauthors" parameter, please check to see if the "author" or "last" and "first" parameters already exist. If they do, changing "coauthors" to "author" will result in a citation error (redundant parameters). You can use "author2" instead of "author" when there is already one author listed. Sample edits that introduced errors are here and here. – Jonesey95 (talk) 04:50, 19 October 2013 (UTC) New REFBotThere is a suggestion on Wikipedia:Bot requests#New REFBot for a new REFBot working as DPL bot and BracketBot do. Regarding Lil Cory?Hey! Would you be able to explain your speedy deletion tagging of Lil Cory. The article states that the artist has composed music for American Dad and has an album on iTunes. While this may or may not fully meet Wikipedia's notability guideline, it seems, in my opinion, to at least constitute a credible claim of significance. (I did originally tag the article under WP:A7, but the author improved it and I removed the tag). TheDragonFire (talk) 04:12, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
Changing 'reflist' to 'references responsive'I see you are changing the template {{reflist}} in some articles to use the markup <references responsive/>. This does a lovely job of handling the columns issue. But the usual practice here is to do the reverse, change references to reflist since reflist has many other useful features. I think we should get the reflist template changed. This is the recommendation at mw:Contributors/Projects/Columns for references for projects that use reflist. I don't know what all the implications are regarding the current column size designation, but I am going to request this at Template talk:Reflist. Thank you again for helping me get underway with pruning my draft. I removed every potentially suspicious article to my knowledge from the draft, and have only left in newspaper sources. That being said, I've done quite a bit of work since last night that I would love your input on in terms of the subject's notability: 1. I scanned another newspaper clipping that I found, archived it, and cited it within the draft, which confirms the band performing at the Susan G. Komen "Race for the Cure" event as the featured artist in both 2017 and 2018. 2. I found old footage of the band performing on the cable television show "Mallets Place TV", which is a product of Time Warner, that aired nationally from NY to numerous markets in Los Angeles. I archived the footage, and cited the feature on the draft page. Im curious to know how this impacts Criteria 12 of musician notability. 3. I discovered that the band was featured twice on The Real Radio Show WRCN 103.9FM. This radio station is an affiliate to Fox news, is licensed by ASCAP, BMI, and Sound Exchange, and broadcasts internationally. Although I cannot find footage of their songs being played on rotation or transcripts detailing their placement, I have found dates as to when their songs were featured, which I genuinely dont know is good enough to cite in the draft. UPDATE: I found a crude audio recording of their feature on The Real Radio Show, which also includes them playing their single "These Days" live on air. I can't find evidence of their second feature on the show, but I've archived the audio and have it linked in the draft. Looking forward to your thoughts on this. Im looking forward to more communication about all of this, and how these changes impact this subject's notability. Talk soon! Notability is not the standard for inclusion in embedded listsYou've recently made several edits that remove material from lists embedded in articles citing Wikipedia:Notability (people) and WP:LISTPEOPLE as justification. Notability only applies for the subject of an article; it does not apply to the contents of an article. And WP:LISTPEOPLE only applies to stand-alone lists; WP:LISTBIO is the guideline for embedded lists and it was rewritten a few years to make it clear that notability is not the standard applied for inclusion in embedded lists. ArbCom 2021 Elections voter messageInternet Archive Scholar vs. JSTORHello, I see on your user page that you use JSTOR and I'd like to know more about your experience. By my calculations, a good 70 % of the main JSTOR content is now available for everyone at Internet Archive Scholar, with full text search provided e.g. at https://scholar.archive.org/ . The service is still in beta, but I've used it for some source-finding and it seems quite usable to me; I wonder whether that's just my experience. If you have a chance, the next time you'd be looking for a source on Google Scholar or JSTOR or similar, to perform the same search on IA scholar instead, I'd be curious to hear how it ends up.
