Wikipedia Campus Ambassador needed

Hi! My name is Annie Lin - I'm the Campus Team Coordinator at the Wikimedia Foundation. I'm contacting you because you're listed as a resident of San Francisco, and we're currently looking for a friendly Wikipedian to teach students in a University of San Francisco class how to use/edit Wikipedia. This is a role titled the "Wikipedia Campus Ambassador," and you'll basically be doing in-class presentations about Wikipedia, running Wikipedia labs/workshops, and in general providing face-to-face Wikipedia help for the professor and the students in the class. The time commitment is about 3-5 hours a week (with variations throughout the semester), and for this particular University of San Francisco class, most of the workload will be between March and May.

Proposed new WikiProject University of Connecticut

capitol filed under W or DC

Now u have me confused about what is right, with your explanation about your filing order. I think i have always filed Washington, D.C. after Washington state, in dab page lists. Hmm, First Presbyterian Church has zero examples. But U.S. Post Office has Washington D.C. after Washington state. I think that is the way it is done generally but i am tired and unsure.

I bet you also want to get photo-ing before summer hits and it gets ungodly hot, if California's anything like Florida in that regard. That's why I actually like roadtripping in the "winter", or what passes for it here. If I'm lucky, I may actually get the state photographed sooner that I thought I would. Proximate major street for Detroit NRHP list

I got it. Setting the "proximate major street" is essentially IDing which of the main "spoke" streets the structure is closest to, and what address number the structure is parallel to. So if someone wanted to visit multiple properties, they could sort the list and the properties would be in geographical order. (I know this is nonstandard, but I couldn't think of any better way to do it, as Detroit doesn't have universally recognized "neighborhoods" that cover the entire city, like [frex] Chicago does.) Yeah, Cass Tech is really closer to Grand River than to Woodward (I corrected it). Main spoke streets in Detroit are Jefferson, Gratiot, Woodward, Grand River, Michigan, and Fort. The Cass Park area sorta highlights a flaw in this "proximate street" system, in that there's actually a number of structures right around Cass Park that are literally right next to each other, but some are closer to Grand River and some are closer to Woodward. Don't freak out

... about the Washington, D.C. nrhp list. I even have a plan to fix it. The list was in awful shape (including a "don't know" list, and a sub-list with 388 entries). Yes please do explain your renumbering system. I'm down to maybe one off on the totals, but need to deal with cross-list duplicates, the crazy multiple location sites, and maybe sites in the wrong list. In other words, renumbering will be inevitable. BTW, I'm very tempted to include the White House, the Capitol Building, and the Supreme Court, which are unique in beings NHLs but not NRHPs, on the NRHP list - any ideas on this? I live in Philly, so it's about a 3 hour (not so pleasant) drive. I did live there for one summer, long ago. If I have a reason to go, other than just take photos, I like to go and do enjoy the city. Josiah Woodhull House

The coordinates you added for the Josaih Woodhill House are a little further southwest of the actual location. They're actually where North Country Road makes that sharp right turn before passing by the Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant.

Timothy and Lucretia Jones Warner Homestead

Where did you find information as to the Timothy and Lucretia Jones Warner Homestead in Livingston County, Michigan, being placed on the National Register of Historic Places? I went to the 4001 Buno Road address to photograph it. There is no such address. There is a 4000 Buno Road address but the owner there knows nothing about an historic site. Across the street there is a 4015 or 4017 address before the numbering changes to five-digit addresses of the form 10xxx. The map coordinates place it at this lcotiona. I found online a page which noted that the homestead had been approved for nomination but The National Register of Historic Places website does not list it as a current listing. Sorry about DC. I got a bit overwhelmed and decided I needed a break, but haven't gotten back to it. I'll finish the counts, overlap checking, etc. by Monday. The potential major problem is the continued existence of the NW Sector list, which I should have moved into one of the new sub-lists to keep the history of the article. What do we do now with it? I think it's ok now. I put in a request at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen.
and got turned down flat for help. So I did a redirect from the old NW quadrant article to the main DC article, put "copied from tags" on the three new NW quadrant articles. History saved, sites all renumbered. Thanks.

National Register of Historic Places listings in Marion County, Texas

Hey, The two new listings inserted into this article (Atkins House and Marsh Place) are contributing properties to the Jefferson Historic District. I can remove them from the list tomorrow, but is there a good place we can relocate these? 25or6to4 (talk) 02:39, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

Just created a barebones article for the historic district, and went ahead and split the contributing properties back out of the list, and left a good note in the comments section. I will (slowly) work on beefing it up, but was really confused on how many contributing sites there were. The Texas Atlas says 11, but I've found at least 16 that are in the district that aren't individually listed. And I'm sure I've missed a few. Hello Sanfranman59. A couple of things. First, I am a he not a she. Second, I was in Jefferson, Texas last week. I spend the next couple of days taking pictures of most of the buildings that are on the National Register list. I know they are on the list because because I not only took pictures of the structures, but I took pictures of the plaques that indicated that are on the National Register list. I am not quite sure which list you are using as your guide, but it appears it has not been updated for a long time. Once again, I can prove that houses that I shot are on the list. You are correct that I am new to Wiki. I learning my way through this site.
