Asbestos disease medical article page

Hi, SPat. Thank you for reviewing my new page. I see you stated that my new page needs references. In my defense, the list is 100% references from very notable scientific journals, i.e. the Lancet, Journal of Industrial Hygiene, etc.

But I somewhat get your point. You may have missed that I cross-linked this list with the main "asbestos" page in two places: the Discovery of Toxicity and "History of Health concerns (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asbestos#History_of_health_concerns_and_regulation). If you look carefully, the citations in my chronological list are the same as those used in the body of the main asbestos article. My thinking is that the main asbestos article is really getting too long, too disorganized and hard to follow. Ultimately, I would really like to clean this up, making the main page just about the physical/mineral characteristics of asbestos. All these other issues should be merged into other articles "asbestos and the law", "asbestos and health", "asbestos products", "chrysotile toxicity debate", etc.

I'll add a few things and see if I can satisfy your concerns. I'm going to cross post this on the new page's talk page. I look forward to your advice and on writing lots of articles like you have! Thanks!Saltwolf (talk) 17:33, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I dunno if I was clear enough in my review, but what I meant is: for a list like this one, it's good to have clear inclusion criteria, and then get reliable sources for every list item proving that it fits those criteria. For example, you describe the list as "a chronological list of some of the major pre-1950 scientific and medical articles relating to the knowledge of the medical and scientific communities regarding asbestos and disease in humans". In this case, you need to define what you mean by "major pre-1950 scientific and medical articles" and then provide references establishing that.

"I see said the blind man" - no just kidding I get what you are saying. I'll double back and make sure I've done that. 1950 was the date when everyone pretty much agrees that asbestos contributed to lung cancer. Much of the debate in litigation is whether people "should've" or did know earlier because of the earlier scientific literature. I'll find some references to make that point clearer. After 1950, there are literally thousands of articles, much to much for a wiki. The early ones are the fascinating ones as they show one of the first developments of epidemiological causation understanding by the medical community. Saltwolf (talk) 17:33, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I see what you mean - the year 1950 is significant and you're including all(most?) articles written before then. I think this is interesting and relevant information and you should add it in the introduction (describing, for example, how things changed around 1950).
