Hey User:SNIyer12 some kid from an anon isp is adding nonsense at the same time you're making changes. You may want to wait until later to edit the page. If somebody rv's to undo the vandalisation, they will knock-out your work as well.

New Jersey Schools

First of all, let me thank you for jumping in on schools and school districts in New Jersey. I have spent the past few months creating pages for regional and local school districts in New Jersey, starting from scratch to the point where almost 30% of districts have articles. All of this has been done as part of Wikiproject New Jersey, an effort to fill in the holes and expand the details regarding all things New Jersey, and effort which you are heartily invited to join.

My madness behind creating wikilinks and external links is as follows: I have no issue with having a red (missing) link for a page that will be created down the road. While I could avoid the problem by not linking to a missing article, the red link both serves as a reminder that a page needs to be created, and once it's been created means that the loop has been closed; the old page links to the new one. I could just use an external link, linking to a web page, but that would lose the reminder aspect and mean that I would have to return to the pages with external links to clean them up, with no way to use Whatlinkshere to help me find them, if needed. My compromise is to put in a wikilink to the missing article AND put in an external link if it's a school, which I don't do for districts as I assume I will get to the page sooner than an HS page.

I have been the only one working on these pages, so it hasn't been an issue. I suggest that we try to work out a reasonable procedure to deal with these holes before they're filled in. If my approach makes sense, great! If not, I'm more than willing to consider an alternative.

Can I ask for an explanation of the set of changes you have made? Given that you have not responded to my previous note (see above) and that you don't provide any explanation for any of your changes, I cannot comprehend what it is that you are trying to do and why it is that you won't try to work together to find some way to work together. Thanks for the response. Based on the research that I've done, with the New Jersey Department of Education, the individual school web sites and the WP:SCH project, I've created separate pages for the district and HS. There is separate info for each and I have tried to keep them separate, where appropriate, though there are some overlaps. Any thoughts on why they should be combined? Thanks for the info, and thanks for catching the handful of mistakes (DFG typos, etc.) that slipped thorugh my doublechecking. I've been desparately trying to find published (web or print) details on enrollment and the details of sending / receiving relationships. Barely 30% of all NJ districts are complete, and you seem like someone who might have the knowledge, skills and willingness to help fill in the huge holes. I have completed all but one of the 78 regional / consolidated districts (Henry Hudson Regional, a two municipality, single-school 7-12 district in Monmouth), and as far as I know I have updated each participating municipality to link to the district (and schools, where appropriate). I have been focusing on completing districts in Bergen County, but even that is just over half complete. Any thoughts on how we can divvy this up, what you'd want to focus on, or work collaboratively? Let me know what your goals are in this effort.

Chief School Administrator

In almost every single case, the administration of each school / district was taken straight from the website, and in 99.9% of the cases, the title is Superintendent. Why the wholesale changes to Chief School Administrator????? Just because the New Jersey School Directory uses the title as a dummy placeholder, doesn't make it the person's title. Please, once and for all, use a more relevant source, like a district web site as a source for this information. Why change dozens and dozens of pages just to waste your time to make the change and mine to fix them back. There are still hundreds of missing pages for school districts and high schools in New Jersey, why create such a spectacular waste of resource messing up what already exists???? Please, as indicated earlier, use the edit summary to explain your changes, as they are starting to appear more like vandalism, no matter how well intentioned. I agree 100% that "Whether you say superintendent in a school district, or chief school administrator, they're same." That's all the more reason to use the title as referenced on a district web site and NOT to go around changing the title in any articles. The fact that "The New Jersey Administrative Code defines chief school administrator as superintendent of schools, or administrative principal who works directly with the district Board of Ed., if there's no superintendent." means that the title of "Chief School Administrator" is a generic description for the position in any particular district or school. If you don't know what the person's title is, it might be appropriate to refer to the person as "Chief School Administrator." But, if you know that the person's title is actually "Superintendent" or "Superintendent of Schools," it would be inappropriate to use "Chief School Administrator," even if by some technical definition it can be used. I've noticed these changes being made and, I have to agree with Alansohn. The working title of this position is determined by each local Board of Education. The term "chief school administrator" is somewhat more obscure. Changing the titles to reflect the State's generic definition does not appear to be appropriate in this case. Delbarton School

Alansohn and SNIyer12: I’d like to solicit your opinion regarding the above article. There appears to be a minor edit war taking place between anonymous users, by adding and removing references to the Delbarton graduates who have been involved in the 2006 Duke University lacrosse team scandal. I’m undecided regarding whether the graduates are sufficiently notable at this time so as to be included in the Delbarton School article as “notable alumni”. Another option would be to add a capsule statement about certain alum’s involvement in the scandal, with a link to the main article. Would you have an opinion on this matter?
