Hi, this message is to let you know about disambiguation links you've recently created. A link to a disambiguation page is almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. For more information, see the FAQ or drop a line at the DPL WikiProject.

Please adhere to Wikipedia policies and practices

Per WP:SOCK, editors who edit as an IP separate from their account should carefully avoid any crossover on articles or topics, because even innocuous activities such as copy editing, wikifying, or linking might be considered sock puppetry in some cases and innocuous intentions will not usually serve as an excuse.
Per WP:FIES, it is considered good practice to provide a summary for every edit, especially when deleting existing text; otherwise, people may question your motives for the edit. Accurate summaries help other contributors decide whether it is worthwhile for them to review an edit, and to understand the change should they choose to review it. When a major edit (e.g. deletion of a substantial amount of text) doesn't have an edit summary, there are fewer reasons to assume good faith and busy editors may be more inclined to revert the change without checking it in detail. A beer for you!

Hello S51438, Thanks for improving the Wisconsin Gubernatorial Recall 2012 page by removing the partisan GarinHartYang poll. Could you help me understand a "partisan" poll versus a "non-partisan" poll? My understanding is that "We Ask America" is a subsidiary of the Illinois Manufacturers Association which is an organization that has political goals and biases. The Reason-Rupe poll is a Libertarian affiliated organization--last time I check the Libertarians were a political party. Should these polls be taken off? The GarinHartYang poll was commissioned by the Barrett campaign--but I think it was produced following accepted polling methods.

Please note that any content, particularly commentary and analysis, that you wish to add to an article needs to be supported by a citation to a reliable source, and not just your own personal opinions or insights based on your beliefs or created by you by linking sources in a manner to reach or imply a conclusion not explicitly made by the original source. -- The Red Pen of Doom 23:41, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm MrX. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Chick-fil-A, but you didn't provide a reliable source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Contributions usually need to have source citations from a news organization, book or journal. This is especially true with current events, controversial topics and content pertaining to living people. Please feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you need any help.MrX 01:09, 22 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I found some sources for the content that you added and put them in the article, so your contribution has been restored, and then some. – MrX 02:49, 22 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:VenturiniVictoryAtDaytona2013.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:VenturiniVictoryAtDaytona2013.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 03:53, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Recognition of same-sex unions in Indiana

Per WP:NPOV and WP:UNDUE I have reverted your addition, please gain a consensus on it's inclusion on the talkpage. and Utah...

I've found no citations for your position on adding Utah to the template on SSM. Every article I've read says the state is likely to appeal. States have only been added to the template after the appeals process has concluded and SSM licenses have been issued. Please don't revert again without adding a citation that backs your claim to the talk page. -- SamuelWantman 22:48, 20 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have added the citation to the talk page. S51438 (talk) 22:55, 20 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of AP Physics 2, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: AP Physics 1. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 22:21, 2 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from AP Physics 1 into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:01, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Obergefell v. Hodges. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Chamith (talk) 05:18, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Delegate Count Source(s)?

The delegate totals you just updated on Talk:Democratic Party presidential primaries, 2016 don't match the current totals listed by AP or Bloomberg. And they don't appear to be sourced in the Wiki article. What was your source? RE: [1]. Michael Sheflin (talk) 18:27, 28 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Per your response: There is no obvious footnoted source, so that is a problem. But the totals on the Wiki page didn't match any mainstream source, if you'll note the talk page. So for the moment I think it would be best if you stopped changing the delegate totals, particularly without sources, pending resolution of these issues. Michael Sheflin (talk) 05:06, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This is not my decision. An overwhelming majority of users on the talk page have stated they wish to follow our other source. I am merely updating according to this consensus. Please see the first section here with the voting for option B under "Total number of super delegates" https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Democratic_Party_presidential_primaries,_2016&section=1 S51438 (talk) 05:10, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I was referring to you changing Secretary Clinton's pledged delegate total from 2,289 to 2,290. Am I misinterpreting that edit? If not, what was your source? [2] Michael Sheflin (talk) 05:16, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
My source is the Green Papers for pledged delegates + our list on Wikipedia of Superdelegate totals. This is how we have agreed to cite. Not many individuals seem ready to cite an outside source. S51438 (talk) 05:18, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Gotcha. The GreenPapers totals have changed since I noticed the discrepancy. I find this concerning but I don't think real researchers get their information on Wikipedia. Michael Sheflin (talk) 05:20, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I was a little bit concerned in the past that the Green Papers was using Wikipedia, as their numbers were strangely close to ours for Superdelegate totals. S51438 (talk) 05:23, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
For soft totals they explicitly are using the Wiki SD list as one primary source... which is bad. [3] Michael Sheflin (talk) 05:26, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, this should definitely be brought to the attention of other editors. S51438 (talk) 05:31, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if it's predominantly you that's been updating the counts, but do you plan to do this? As I've said I don't think it'd really be appropriate to continue to follow a potentially flawed process. Michael Sheflin (talk) 21:49, 29 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I will stop updating, but I can't say I'm motivated to get into a new discussion on this topic. S51438 (talk) 00:29, 30 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
But you didn't stop updating... And your recent updates conflicted with both CNN and AP. Michael Sheflin (talk) 17:52, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Consensus was formed on the talk page. You didn't participate in the discussion. Not my problem. S51438 (talk) 21:34, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
As we have discussed, there was no consensus on this matter. Can you explain the disjuncture between your actions and your pledge to "stop updating"? And you should report me now.* Michael Sheflin (talk) 21:54, 1 June 2016 (UTC) *I did violate the 1RR rule; I forgot though this is not the first time. But using an unrelated violation as a threat to get me stop raising valid concerns about sloppy editing is beyond inappropriate. Michael Sheflin (talk) 21:57, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Whether there was original consensus is something for you to discuss. You have not started any discussion on the talk page specifically about the lack of consensus regarding Superdelegates. S51438 (talk) 00:47, 2 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2019 US Banknote Contest

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
