Hello Rwatson1955. I have declined the immediate deletion request as citations in Google Scholar suggest that the subject might meet the notability requirements for academics. However, articles about academics at Ali's career stage are often deleted after discussion. To demonstrate notabiity, references to reliable sources that are independent of the subject, and that discuss her, or her work, in detail, are needed. Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently been editing COVID-19, broadly construed which has been designated a contentious topic. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

You should not have had that content in your sandbox, you must move text to article space, not cut-and paste, which loses the history.

If you have a conflict of interest, you must declare it. Please don't write about yourself, your friends or relatives and read the guidance below:

  • When you write about a person, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
  • Most of your text was completely unsourced. The refs you did give were his own papers, a wikipedia page, and a page that didn't even mention him, let alone confirm what you have written. We need independent third-party sources.
  • He's clearly notable, but that doesn't been you can just write what you like, text, especially about living people must be verified to independent sources
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
  • I've seen worse, but throughout you make claims that appear to be your opinions rather tham verifiable facts he became interested, such as He has contributed to an understanding of: the factors that shape personal experiences of illnesses ... He did not restrict his research but expanded it ... and so
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
  • I didn't check, but a large block of text created in one edit with no wikilinks or proper refs is worrying.

THANKS! Actually, by the time you replied, I had seen the reasons and, of course, see exactly what you mean now - very careless of me. I will create a new page under the same title - all sandbox material will be removed - and all points will be linked and, while I have not met the subject for many years, I will put an entry on the COI page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jimfbleak) and also mention this when I put the page up in the history.
