Orphaned fair use image (Image:Heart Like a Wheel DVD cover.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Heart Like a Wheel DVD cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Frank Caliendo

An anonymous editor keeps adding what is in my opinion, extremely trivial information to the Frank Caliendo article. I am soliciting the opinion of other editors who have edited this article about the appropriateness of this "information" to the article. Please review the details at Talk:Frank Caliendo#Consensus about inclusion of specific football predictions and if you desire, add your thoughts to this section.
Hi Roger. Thank you for your personal message. Unfortunately I know very little about the subject in question, and am unable to offer an opinion on the information added to the article. However, I hope you find the answer you're looking for. Bobo.18:15, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

It was much appreciated, in dealing with a couple of extremely contentious editors who have been following me wherever I go on Wikipedia. Dino17:36, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
George Harrison's handwritten lyrics to the song While My Guitar Gently Weeps have fetched $300,000 (£152,552) in a Scottsdale (Arizona, United States) memorabilia auction (15 January). It contained lines omitted from the final version of the song. Specifically :
I look from the wings at the play you are stagingWhile my guitar gently weepsAs I'm sitting here doing nothing but agingStill my guitar gently weeps
On the reverse of the page appears the lyrics to Hey Jude in the hand of Mal Evans.
Project News
The Project lead article (The Beatles, for those not paying attention) has had its Good Article status reviewed, and the consensus was 'keep'. The efforts of User:Andreasegde in supplying the requested citations, and other editors in helping with general editing, and the strength of arguments for retaining the grade sufficiently impressed the reviewers.
After a great deal of work Paul McCartney was promoted as a Featured Article candidate. Unfortunately it failed to succeed. Among other comments, including the correct length of dash (or hyphen), from reviewers was that the article was too long and also that it needed further information included in some of the sections(!?) The promotor, and driving force behind the insertion of a great many references, citations and facts (and the remover of unwanted text, and splitter of information into daughter articles), Andreasegde vigorously argued the case for promotion but was unsuccessful.
Mimi Smith was successfully nominated for WP:Good article status. The major editor to whom accolades should be directed is... Andreasegde.
The hottest Project page this month was possibly, despite the Article Status related issues regarding both The Beatles and Paul McCartney mentioned above, the third attempt to delete The Beatles trivia in less than a year. As was the case for the second attempt at AfD the result, after an energetic discourse, was keep but with a suggestion that the article be retitled to reduce the incidence of deletion requests. Editors are invited to discuss possible new titles, and/or the need for same, at Talk:The Beatles trivia.
Other Project news - Lar did a bit of a purge of the subscription list during last month's newsletter delivery. Some folks were kept (and are at the active list), some who clearly are not active on wikipedia at all were removed with a "you've been removed" message left (and are at the inactive list), and some folks who were less active but not as clearly completely inactive were given a "this may be your last newsletter" message (and are at the possibly inactive list). A more nuanced subscription list is now here (in several subpages as outlined above), and anyone who wants to tweak their status (moving one's self back is a clear cut sign that we should deliver the newsletter to you!) should feel free. Please respect the rather spartan formatting though, this list is used by WP:AWB currently, and may be used by other automation in future.
Issue of the Month
Hottest issue or concern for this month is the perennial matter of Project articles losing their Good or Featured Article status. The main Project page now includes a status board that gives the current ratings of some of the more important articles. Let's make sure the core articles (The Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr) reach or retain Good Article status, if not Featured Article. If you are aware of another major article whose status is at risk, add it to the board.
Issue of last Month
Since there has been no response in the matter of the use of lowercase for the initial letter of the when applied with Beatles from the opponents, it is likely that the case for using lowercase only will be adopted as Project policy by default. User:LessHeard vanU will draw up a recommendation and submit it to the Policy talkpage in a few days.
From the Editors
We are pleased to welcome the contributions of Alexcalamaro to this newsletter. Any editor can include an item of interest or news; this medium can be an excellent tool for getting a comment seen by a great number of project members. As it says below, this is your newsletter.
If you've just joined, add your name to the Participants section of Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy!
Lastly, this is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue (Issue 011 – March 2007). Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned, or just start editing!
As the project is currently just starting, our more experienced editors are working on the project infrastructure, classifying articles, and listing/assessing red links. Your assistance is welcome. If you would prefer to just edit - and why wouldn't you? - we have a choice selection of red links to turn blue and articles to clean! Now let's get busy.
Project: Add {{WPBeatles}} to the talk pages of all Beatles-related articles. Send a newsletter to members, canvas for new members, and coordinate tasks. Enter articles classed as stubs into this list (under To Expand) and also list articles needing cleaning and other work here.
If you complete one of these tasks, please remove it from the list and add your achievement to the project log.
Want to help on next month's newsletter? Don't want to receive these in future? Don't want it subst'd next time? – It's all here.
Thank you for protecting the Super Bowl page, it was being vandalized by at least five different people at once, and half the time it was being reverted back (in good faith) to a defamatory version. (jarbarf)17:11, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
This is very interesting. I certainly recognize the text that's on the Bio page of the [http://amyelizabethfisher.com/bio.html amyelizabethfisher.com] website. It's almost exactly what I wrote for the Wikipedia page back in September 2005, which you've spotted. I don't know if the amyelizabethfisher.com website even existed back then - I suspect it didn't becuase I'm sure I'd have found it while Google searching information for the article if it had; but until you pointed it out to me I've never come across this website. I think it must be fairly new. I certainly didn't copy anything from it into the Wikipedia article. It appears that the website has lifted the text of the Wikipedia page and used it as their bio. My sources of information when I edited the article were another Amy Fisher website - www.amyfisher.com - which was alreday listed as an external link in the article before I edited it; and a few news articles I found on the web, most notably www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/young/amy_fisher, which I added as an extra external link at the article when I edited it. Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent contribution removed content from an article. Please be more careful when editing articles and do not remove content from Wikipedia without a good reason, which should be specified in the edit summary. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. The Military history WikiProject coordinator election has begun. We will be selecting seven coordinators to serve for the next six months from a pool of sixteen candidates. Please vote here by February 25!
Thanks for uploading Image:Cole_Tom.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
I have now properly sourced the information I've put in the article. Is it still POV? Can you discuss that with me in the discussion page? GeorgeBP22:28, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Please repost what you deleted to the evidence talk page, if you think it's not appropriate for the evidence page itself. diff Thanks. - FaAfA(yap)02:01, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
The material I deleted doesn't even reference wikipedia, so it is not germane to this arbitration. What any of the involved parties may or may not have done outside wikipedia is none of our concern. Also, anonymous user has never edited any thing else on wikipedia, and obviously came here specifically to post this material. We have no idea who this editor is or the authenticity of his/her "evidence". --rogerd03:06, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Got your message. Its clear that APJ forgot to log in, then signed their IP post - isn't it? Do you suspect someone else - a Hinnen perhaps? - FaAfA(yap)05:48, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
Dear administrator: Please look into this editor who is constantly uncivil and disruptive on the Peter Roskam article with unfounded claims every editor who disagrees with his agenda and point of view is a sock puppet. Also, this editor removes from his talk page any entry he feels that is negative to him even though it is true. [2]
It would appear this editor is an untouchable, protected and operates without any sort of discipline or concern for his actions. Since this editor is so focused on sock puppets I submit that these two editors Propol and Goethean operate as sock puppets.

I think so, maybe we should get a checkuser, although I would guess he is smart enough not to use the same IP address for both identities. --rogerd15:23, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
No, not really, it just "smells" like it to me, and my olfactory is not a good enough reason. I guess you need some semblance for probable cause. thanks --rogerd16:29, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Completely uninvolved editor here, after reading the APJ posts concerning Bryan/Dean Hinnen, the writing style is very similar to that of FAAFA, just an intuition. —MichaelLinnear23:24, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
It was my intuition too, and Tbeatty tried pursuing it, and FAAFA took it upon himself to try to humiliate both of us. I guess "the community" is going to accept this, just like he seems to get away with all of his bullying and harassment. --rogerd00:25, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Hopefully not, as of right now it looks like the Arbitration Committee will pass his 1 year ban. Perhaps, he'll come back with a different attitude, but probably not. —MichaelLinnear00:50, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
On February 5, 2007, the Beatles' Apple Corps and Apple, Inc. (Apple Computer) announced a settlement of their latest trademark dispute involving use of the Apple trademark on the iTunes Music Store. In May of 2006, the High Court ruled in favor of Apple, but Neil Aspinall, manager of Apple Corps, vowed to appeal. Evidently, in the intervening months, the two companies negotiated a settlement. The settlement is discussed in this AP story. For background on the case, see Apple Corps v. Apple Computer. For fans, this may mean that Beatle music will be available someday on iTunes. Despite rumors of a February 2007 release, the material is still unavailalble.
The articles Freddie Lennon, Julia Lennon, Mimi Smith, Neil Aspinall and Mal Evans have all been promoted to Good Article status. The identity of the individual largely responsible for this outcome remains a mystery, but anyone correctly identifying said person will be treated to dinner with Sir Sean de Garde (cost of meal, air tickets, hotel and trips to houses of ill-repute will be borne by the Mighty Crestville).
There were no Project article adoptions for the month of February.
Project Policy has now been altered to reflect that the use of lowercase for the letter "t" of the word "the" in the Beatles is now considered the correct rendition.
Member News
New members to the project since the last issue include (although the first is a long time contributor who apparently has only just found the Participants section);
See below. There is genuine concern that the Newsletter is getting stale in terms of content and variety, and that the same individuals are featured each month. Furthermore, lack of "news" is hindering the timely distribution as the editors wait for something to report. All Project editors are encouraged to give their news, suggestions and thoughts to keep the 'Letter vital and interesting. If making direct contributions do not appeal, please give a mention on the Newsletter talkpage and it will be incorporated!
From the Editors
Help is needed for the job of putting future Newsletters together. The present incumbent is finding it difficult to reflect the breadth of the Project, focusing on much the same individuals and articles each month, and has decided to beg for contributions from other individuals. Interested persons need only start working on next months issue to qualify. It really is that simple!
If you've just joined, add your name to the Participants section of Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy!
Lastly, this is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue (Issue 012 – April 2007). Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned, or just start editing!

Sorry for the blatant spam, but you have yourself down as interested at WikiProject user warnings WP:UW. There is a discussion on going here that might be of interest to you about the future of this project. There are two strawpolls on the talk pages and the second one is about the future of the WP:UW project. Now we have the end in sight we are looking at wrapping up the project and merging it with Template messages/User talk namespace WP:UTM and creating a one stop shop for all userspace templates. As you have yourself down as interested in this project we thought you may have some input on this issue, and would like you to visit the discussion and give any thoughts you may have on the matter. AD Kirwan
He's already in the University of Kentucky category due to his statusa as an alumnus. I think it's redundant to put him in the University of Kentucky category itself, but it's not big deal to me either way. If you want to put him back in, I won't fight you on it. LaszloWalrus15:32, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, {{PermissionAndFairUse}} might well have covered it. Sadly, the user didn't upload it as PermissionAndFairUse, as you will have seen when you looked at the deleted image's history (here).
As you know, the user uploaded it as a straight, automatically-marked, CSD#I3-listed, "non-commercial or Wikipedia-only" image. Which, as you are aware, is incompatible with Wikipedia and is immediately deletable. This was, of course, clear to you when you checked the history of the image before you wrote to me so I can't add much more the the existing Wikipedia policy, although the deletion log has a clear link to the policy and my talk page has a clear FAQ flagged at the top of it, as you saw.
As for the claims of WP:BITE, well, I'm sure you wish to withdraw such a serious allegation after further review.
I obtained the list of National Presidents from The Crew website as well as the US Jaycee Foundation website. The Crew site is now locked to the general public and only available to members. It is probably in the book Legacy of Leadership as well. Lucido6818:28, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

bot
I stopped a while ago so you don't need to leave anything else, I guess I am not allowed to use bots and it was my first bot so it was kind of crappy. Reference to Renaming Images
In reference to your comments:
"When you upload an image, please save it to wikipedia with a meaningful name. For instance, the name image:Vc37.jpg may have been meaningful to the LOC, but it means nothing to us. If instead, you would have called it "Wizard of Oz publicity still.jpg", that would have made it easier on everyone else. Also, please consider instead of uploading to English wikipedia, adding your free images to Wikimedia Commons so that it may be available to wikipedia projects in other languages as well as other wikimedia projects. --rogerd13:14, 16 April 2007 (UTC)"
For all intents and purposes, there is no Wiki guildelines or directives that discuss the explicit directions pertaining to the naming of image files. Therefore, if you personally feel that you must change the names of the image and want to take the additional steps to add the image to the Wikimedia Commons than by all means, feel free to make the appropriate changes. My regards. --Signaleer13:20, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
"You are absolutely right. You are not required to give images an appropriate name. However, it would take very little effort on your part to do so, and it would make housekeeping in wikipedia much easier. I assume you participate here because you want to improve the project, right? In order for me to rename it after you have uploaded it, I would have so download it to my computer, delete the original, and the upload it with a better name. As opposed to the minor effort you would have to take to merely type in an appropriate name when you upload the image. Don't you find that when you are looking through your files on your computer, for instance, if you named your 2004 tax return "2004 Federal taxes.pdf" instead of "23476gt6sbhvtt.pdf", it would make it easier to identify at a glance what the content is? Well, now think about how many images are on wikipedia. Again, this is just a friendly suggestion for someone who I notice is adding a lot of images to the project. Thanks. --rogerd13:36, 16 April 2007 (UTC)"
Again, if you personally feel that you need to make those changes, then go for it. If you think it is such a hassle on your part and you want to be a "hero" and maintain "proper" names of all image files--then you're gonna have your work cut out for yourself. I suggest you get started because you're gonna be here for awhile making all those appropriate changes, just a friendly suggestion. Also, take into consideration the fact that not all files on the internet have "proper file names", that is why there are captions, summaries and descriptions associated with the image! --Signaleer13:40, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
I guess so, look on the bright side--now you have something to do! Upload images to the Wikimedia Commons--I've uploaded quite a bit of images, I suggest you get started while the day is still young. --Signaleer14:07, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
And I suggest that you try to take my suggestion in the spirit it was that it was intended and try to be a little more civil. I have quite enough to do without putting up with smart alek crap from you, thank you. I consider this subject closed. Good day --rogerd14:28, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
I suggest you keep your suggestions to yourself. I also suggest you learn to use civil language and not use words like "smart alek crap" since I do not appreciate nor tolerate that sort of language on this community. I might also add that you have an image of poor quality and crooked B-36 image on a Wiki article because you somehow think that you are qualified to judge what is "quality" images. On that note, I'll have a good day, thanks! -Signaleer14:47, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
Dear Roger
Quoting myself, months ago... ...it seems like yesterday when I was first blessed with your wonderful friendship, and your gentlemanly way of helping and guiding me in my first stumbling steps, like a loving older brother...
Those words cannot be more true now. Friends like you go beyond time, beyond circumstances.
Know that, as long as my heart beats, you'll always have a friend...
nay, a sister in me, who will be always by your side should dark days come.
PS. Your little niece, who never finds pleasure in staying silent for more than half an hour, asks me to send you a big hug ;) Phaedriel - 16:02, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

On Friday 30th March, a deranged fan was held after attempting to force his way into Paul McCartney's mansion. See here for more details.
Apple Corps continues to make news, after the recent settlement with Apple Computer over the use of the Apple trademark. On April 10th, the company announced that long-time chief executive Neil Aspinall had stepped down and had been replaced by American Jeff Jones. It was also announced that another long term dispute, this time with EMI over royalties, had been amicably settled prior to Aspinall's departure.[3][4]
Project News
The article "Jeff Jones (music industry executive)" suddenly becomes of top importance in the Apple sphere of Beatledom. User:Kingboyk has created a stub on the man, but the article needs urgent beefing up (including basic biographical data such as date and place of birth) and, if possible, a photograph of the new Apple chief executive.
With the debate over "the Beatles" vs "The Beatles" continuing to cause ill feeling and a number of resignations from the project from advocates on both sides, Kingboyk attempted to diffuse the situation by blanking the Project Policy page and tagging it as {{historical}}. Although this unilateral action hasn't been reverted as of the time of writing, the reaction was mixed, with two members rejoining the project and others stating their disagreement. With the issue still not resolved, the page was sent to Miscellany for Deletion, for the wider community (and WikiProject The Beatles members) to consider the issue.

Hi. Hope you don't mind me posting to your discussion page, but user 71.231.234.227 has made a couple of edits to the page on the House of Saud recently [here] and [here]. I've visited the links and they're about as biased, misinformative, and unconstructive as you could imagine. I could just as easily delete the links (which I have, by the way) and ignore the user, but as you have recently dealt with the user in March for disruptive edits, I thought you would want to know about it and perhaps deal with the user further.
Oh, and if I've done anything wrong with posting to your page on this, feel free to correct me.
The Military history WikiProject Newsletter: Issue XIV (April 2007)

Hi there. I appologize for not using the European date style in the Queen's article. Again, I'm sorry. I was the one who recently added a large paragraph on the Queen's most recent (and current) trip abroad, but if you read it, you will notice that it not only mentions the latest and current trip, but also a trip that she took to California in 1983 with President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan, which was not mentioned before. Yes, it's somewhat long, and I'll go through and clean it up right now. Sorry for the confusion. Happyme2204:35, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Why is this an issue? The purpose of enclosing the dates in double brackets (i.e., [[Month Day]] [[Year]] or [[Day Month]] [[Year]]) is so dates display according to the individual user's preferences. Thus, "April 23" will appear as "23 April" if that's the date format preferred. JGHowestalk - 14:38, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Because many logged in users and all anonymous (IP) users have no date preferences set. Remember, this encyclopedia is primarily for the readers, not the editors. If someone in the UK or Commonwealth were to find this article using Google or another search engine, they may assume that it is a US-centric site because of US formatted dates. --rogerd14:45, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi, Rogerd- Yes, you have a good point about anon. users, i.e., the public at large. I should have read first WP:DATE#Date formats related to topics. Certainly the article about the queen of England should follow English usage, same as with spellings, etc. Thx for reminding me of that JGHowestalk - 03:44, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

There is some crazy things going on over at this article. I am now stepping out of it for fear of causing/continuing an edit war. Some of the things this editor wants to be in this article probably should be in it, but he/she is just throwing a bunch of nonsense in. Moorematthews19:42, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
I do not have a problem with the opposition external site as long as it is labeled as such. Maybe I did delete it in haste, I will re add it but with a better label. To answer your other question, no I am not familiar enough with the controversy to know if any of it is true or not. I would suspect that there is a nugget of truth in there somewhere, but where is beyond me. Moorematthews17:09, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Small world isn't it, I don't have a problem with leaving this guy's edits, but some one else has already changed it. If you want to get me the other side of the controversy I will see if I can come up with something that will with any luck be okay for everybody involved. Moorematthews00:49, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your additions and corrections. I was in the process of researching some of the red text to clear them up. Jump in anytime. LanceBarber20:46, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
So now you can monitor it and when someone asks for MONGO to be blocked, you can tell them "no"...it's a win-win situation!--MONGO19:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
