Hey Rcsprinter123/Archives. I'm dropping you a note because you've been using the Page Curation suite recently - this is just to let you know that we've deployed the final version :). There's some help documentation Wikipedia:Page Curation/Introductionhere that shows off all the features, just in case there are things you're not familiar with. If you find any bugs or have requests for new features, let us know here. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 11:59, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
Image deletion
Hi. I'm confused by the tag you put on File:Soul2SoulII2006.jpg. If an image is being used on a fair use basis, why does it matter exactly what its source was? There's no doubt that it is under copyright, but the fair use rationale should allow it to be included in the one article where it is. Or have I missed something here? Thanks. Wasted Time R (talk) 10:38, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
Every image, regardless of its copyright status, must have some source information, be that own work, a URL, whatever. But Google Images does not count because that is only a search engine. That's like saying Obama has bunny ears because I found it on Google, but no specific link is given. It's all part of RS. Rcsprinter(state the obvious (or not)) @ 11:04, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
RFD
Please note WP:NACD "Closing discussions in which you have offered an opinion or for a page in which you have a vested interest (i.e. a page that you have edited heavily) should be avoided." You can't close it and drmies was withdrawing his personal attack - the nomination was by me not him and his withdrawal had nothing to do with the nomination. Really if this is the level of non-admin closure you've been carrying out then someone should be reviewing all of your recent closes. Stuart.Jamieson (talk) 15:56, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
Normally I would be gobsmacked to see an editor closing a discussion in which they have such a vested interest, especially as there is no clear "keep" outcome anyway. With Rcsprinter however nothing surprises me. I previously had to revert their closure of an AfD in which they had !voted.--Charles (talk) 17:36, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
Could we please avoid piling on and needlessly denigrating other users? That comment is neither productive nor conducive to a pleasant editing environment, and while it does demonstrate some prior history of trouble surrounding NACs, there is a very simple solution here. Rcsprinter, would you consider not doing NACs for the time being? Uninvolved admins can do the closures, and you're better at other things anyway. -— Isarra༆21:10, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
I've asked at WP:ANI for an uninvolved admin to look over your NACs, I do think there are concerns there but an uninvolved admin looking over them could dispel my concerns. Stuart.Jamieson (talk) 22:57, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
WikiCup 2012 September newsletter
We're over half way through the final, and so it is less than a month until we know for certain our 2012 WikiCup champion. Grapple X (submissions) currently leads, followed by Sasata (submissions), Cwmhiraeth (submissions) and Casliber (submissions). However, we have no one resembling a breakaway leader, and so the competition is a long way from over. Next month's newsletter will feature a list of our winners (who are not necessarily only the finalists) and keep your eyes open for an article on the WikiCup in a future edition of The Signpost. The leaders are already on a par with last year's winners, but a long way from the huge scores seen in 2010. That said, a repeat of the competition from 2010 seems unlikely.
It is good to see that three-quarters of our finalists have already scored bonus points this round. This shows that, contrary to criticism that the WikiCup has received in the past, the competition does not merely incentivise the writing of trivial articles; instead, our top competitors are still spending their time contributing to high-importance articles, and bringing them to a high standard. This does a great service to the encyclopedia and its readers. Thank you, and good work!

Participation: Out of 41 people who signed up this drive, 28 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.
Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing July, August, September and October 2011 from the backlog. This means that, for the first time since the drives began, the backlog is less than a year. At least 677 tagged articles were copy edited, although 365 new ones were added during the month. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2341 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 54 requests outstanding before September 2012 as well as eight of those made in September.
Copy Edit of the Month: Voting is now over for the August 2012 competition, and prizes will be issued soon. The September 2012 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. The October 2012 contest is now open for submissions. Everyone is welcome to submit entries and to vote.
Hello, Rcsprinter123. You have new messages at Wikipedia_talk:Teahouse/Host_lounge. Message added 00:07, 5 October 2012 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
I still have a few to go through, here is where I stopped for today. I decided that I would rather PROD them to see if they could be fixed rather than CSD many of them. Most of them were at the point where it was easier to WP:BLOWITUP. LegoKontribsTalkM04:17, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
And I found another problem that Lego missed:the article on Ricky Dilliard which he prodded, I took a look at it, and it was obviously professionally written, so I checked the ref to his bio on his blog, and there it was, at http://rickydillardlive.blogspot.ca/2008/01/biography-ricky-dillard.html .I deleted as G12 When something looks both smooth & promotional, I usually find something like that.
It is absolutely essential for any promotional page that you check the websites. Sometimes, like here, they're conveniently listed in the article. Sometime they're not, and that's a real warning sign that the editor is just a little more clever. Every contemporary person who might conceivably be notable in the US and Europe at least has at least one personal page somewhere.
The rough criterion for accepting AfCs is the that they must be able to pass speedy and have at least a decent chance of passing AfD, It is no help to the editor to accept something that won't. The most basic check is for copyvio. You should try to develop a greater awareness of its prevalence. DGG ( talk ) 04:15, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
I have noticed I am mentioned quite frequently in the above oppose. I agree with your well thought-out points about co-noms perhaps targeting me after my recent neutral !vote in this RfA. Two things I need to say though; I think that the co-noms investigating my AfC reviews was sparked by a recent event on IRC (no screenshots this time) involving Fire and Water. It was just a coincidence they were nominators, although that could have had something to do with it. Also, what do you mean by whistle-blower? Don't get it. Rcsprinter(deliver) @ 08:42, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Hi Rcsprinter, I want to assure you that I was not trying to "target" you because of your vote, I merely was trying to clean up a situation I did not think was desirable.
Also, I was not aware of Kudpung also reviewing your AfC contributions, I thought it was just me (from the co-nominators).
What exactly are you referring to when you mention a recent event on IRC involving Fire and Water.? What is Fire and Water? After I had made a few PROD nominations, I asked Dru of Id in the public #wikipedia-en-helpers channel to review my PRODs to ensure that they were within policy, and asked him to do so a few more times that night.
Once again, I would like to apologize if it came on as I was targeting or attacking you for your vote, that simply was not the case. I discovered that an AFC reviewed article was lower quality than I expected it to be, and noticed that you were the reviewer. I decided to go through a few other articles, and after the first 3 I marked, I made the decision to go through the rest because they were not up to the quality that I expect out of AFC articles. I tagged a total of 17 articles for PROD (removing one after consulting with another user on IRC), and 2 were tagged for speedy. User:DGG then did the due diligence and noticed that Ricky Dilliard was a copyvio. He left me a note on my talk page, so I let him know that I would check through the rest for copyvios. I found two partial copyvios (listed at User_talk:DGG#Eric_Mika) and one blatant copyvio (Meriem Maza), which has since been deleted. The others seemed to check out.
I also tried to PROD when possible so there would be a buffer period of 7 days and so other users could object (as one did), and I also believe another PROD tag was removed after some content removal.
D'oh. Yeah Dru of Id explained that one to me after I PROD'd it. I totally understand what you did in that circumstance and why you did it, so no hard feelings. Happy editing, LegoKontribsTalkM10:41, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
I think it would be wise to relist this in a few days, after the Jack Merridew thing is closed. A fluke of timing prevented anyone from seeing the request. It's a 'no one pays attention to a guy looking for directions when there's a four alarm fire the next block over' kind of thing. Sven ManguardWha?05:50, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
Wait, somebody who isn't me has been helping with the project?! :) Why didn't you say so before and make a note on the page? Thanks for it all. You should have said it was for Operation SS in your edit summaries, and then the IP wouldn't have been mistaken. I'll just revert and give them a note. Thanks! Rcsprinter(speak) @ 16:09, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
What the hell is Operation SS? Are you a Nazi? You have added a linked logo to an existing text link for Via Rail stations. What is the purpose of that? Is this something that you decided to do on you own rather than being a proper Wiki project? If you want to do this at least you could tidy things up so there is not overlinking. I have cleaned up Abbotsford railway station. If you don't want to do this with some care and consideration, then just stop. Secondarywaltz (talk) 17:32, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
Welcome to my talkpage, Secondarywaltz. I must say your message on here was rather unprecedented, what with us never having made our acquaintance before or you being involved in the subject of the section (afaik). Now, in response to it, I'm afraid I must inform you that no, I am not a follower of Fascist ways, however much you may have been hoping I said yes. You appear to be saying that like its a bad thing and I must remind you of WP:NPOV. So what if I am?
I will point you towards User:Rcsprinter123/Station symbols. This SS thing was brought up on a recent RfD in which the redirect of Wikipedia:Operation SS was put into question. I must tell you that it simply means "station symbols" and has absolutely nothing to do with the Schutzstaffel, this is merely coincidental. Furthermore, why not do it on my own? Is there a rule against that? Not like its entirely private anyway; people are encouraged to help. On my defence the thousands of pages I have added it to we're largely clean additions and have had no trouble at all. I won't just stop, although I do stop and start whenever I feel like it.
I had no idea what that meant and the reference to SS was a "light hearted" comment to break the ice since, as you pointed out, we have never communicated before. I am not poking my nose in - you are, by stomping over Canadian railway stations, and creating duplicate Wililinks there without properly explaining what this is about. . . . and Yes - I will help, whenever I am editing Via stations. If you look at Abbotsford railway station, that I refer to above, you will see that I have removed the previous, now redundant, link to Via Rail and cleaned up the look of the infobox heading. I think this is a good enough project for you if applied with care - now that I know what you are trying to achieve. Have fun. Secondarywaltz (talk) 00:27, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for taking the time to participate in my RfA. I hope that I will be able to improve based on the feedback I received and become a better editor. AutomaticStrikeout03:14, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

Dear Rcsprinter123. You recently rejected an article, [1], saying that it contained phrases from something called "noozley.com", "shutking.blogspot.com" and "waatp.com". However, those sites are not related to the article, and the article certainly does not contain phrases from them. Could you either clarify your reasoning or let me know what phrases you are referring to? Thanks, Osama10al (talk) 17:39, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
I'm sorry, my tool seemed to pick them up and the duplication detector agreed with me. Wait and see what the next reviewer thinks if s/he wants to pass it. Rcsprinter(state) @ 19:16, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
Waste an edit? What is that supposed to mean? I was only observing anyway, nobody needs to reply or create drama or berate Kumioko for it. Rcsprinter(state) @ 19:14, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
Already there, I corrected some formatting errors when this AfD was created. I don't think I will comment because really I don't care less whether or not it exists. I simply moved it to the mainspace; please don't criticize me because I missed something. Rcsprinter(speak) @ 19:13, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
The October 2012 Copy Edit of the Month Contest is currently in the submissions stage. Submit your best October copy edit there before the end of the month. Submissions end, and discussion and voting begin, on November 1 at 00:00 (UTC).
NEW!! In the week from Sunday 21 October to Saturday 27 October, we are holding a Project Blitz, in which we will copy edit articles tagged with {{copyedit}} belonging to selected project(s). For the first blitz, we'll start with WikiProject Olympics and WikiProject Albums and add more Projects to the blitz as we clear them. The blitz works much like our bimonthly drives, but a bit simpler. Everyone is welcome to take part, and barnstars will be awarded.
November 2012 Backlog elimination drive is a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on November 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on November 30 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goals are to copy edit all articles tagged in 2011 and to complete all requests placed before the end of October. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits at least one article, and special awards will be given to the top five in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", "Number of articles of over 5,000 words", "Number of articles tagged in 2011", and "Longest article". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Stfg, Allens, and Torchiest.
I was wondering what your criteria were for approving this nomination, given the many violations of DYK rules involving both hook and article. Under the circumstances, you might wish to review both WP:DYK and WP:DYKSG before your next DYK review. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:56, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
Adoption?
Thus far, I've asked WTT (who hasn't replied--probably caught up in the aftermath of Sigma's RFA) and Ryan Vesey, who is busy with college. I noticed that you had an adoption program and had previously been adopted by WTT, so I thought I'd drop by and ask about your adoption program. Thanks--Go Phightins! (talk) 20:32, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
It's a programme of lessons with a test at the end, resulting in "graduation". I am currently taking on new adoptees, but only want to focus on one at a time due to real life commitments. You want me to adopt you? OK, if that's what you want. You do seem relatively experienced already though... Rcsprinter(state) @ 14:58, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
Well, I've only been editing actively for a few months and want to brush up/learn policies more in depth plus take whatever wisdom I can get from those with more experience than I. GoPhightins!19:05, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
Quick question, is the test already somewhere on the adoption page, or do I have to wait for you to transclude it to the page? GoPhightins!17:57, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for editing the article 'Beth Johnson' for me. I really appreciate the help. It took me about 15 minutes to figure out how to say thanks - I could never have actually changed anything myself! Cheers! Beth Johnson Ocanada73 (talk) 22:44, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

The 2012 WikiCup has come to a close; congratulations to Cwmhiraeth (submissions), our 2012 champion! Cwmhiraeth joins our exclusive club of previous winners: Dreamafter (2007), jj137 (2008), Durova (2009), Sturmvogel 66 (2010) and Hurricanehink (2011). Our final standings were as follows:
Prizes for first, second, third and fourth will be awarded, as will prizes for all those who reached the final eight. Every participant who scored in the competition will receive a ribbon of participation. In addition to the prizes based on placement, the following special prizes will be awarded based on high performance in particular areas of content creation. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, the prize is awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round.
The featured article award goes to Grapple X (submissions), for four featured articles in the final round.
The good article award also goes to Grapple X (submissions), for 19 good articles in the second round.
The list award goes to Muboshgu (submissions), for three featured lists in the final round.
The topic award goes to Grapple X (submissions), for three good topics (with around 40 articles) in round 4.
The did you know award goes to Cwmhiraeth (submissions), for well over 100 DYKs in the final round.
The news award goes to ThaddeusB (submissions), for 10 in the news items in round 3.
The picture award goes to Grandiose (submissions), for two featured pictures in round 2.
Finally, for achieving an incredible bonus point total in the final round, and for bringing the top-importance article frog to featured status, a biostar has been awarded to Cwmhiraeth (submissions).
Awards will be handed out in the coming days; please bear with us! This year's competition also saw fantastic contributions in all rounds, from newer Wikipedians contributing their first good or featured articles, right up to highly experienced Wikipedians chasing high scores and contributing to topics outside of their usual comfort zones. It would be impossible to name all of the participants who have achieved things to be proud of, but well done to all of you, and thanks! Wikipedia has certainly benefited from the work of this year's WikiCup participants.
Participation: Out of 31 people signed up for this drive so far, 22 have copy-edited at least one article. If you've signed up but haven't yet copy-edited any articles, every bit helps; if you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us!
Progress report: We're on track to meet our targets for the drive. We have reduced our target group of articles—November and December 2011—by over 50%, and 34 of the the 56 requests made in September and October this year have already been fulfilled. However, the rate of tagging for copy edit has increased, and this month we are just keeping the size of the backlog stable. So, all you copy editors, please do come along and help us!
Seasonal oversight: We had a slight fall from grace in the title of our last newletter, which mentioned the season in the northern hemisphere and thus got it wrong for the southern. Fortunately an observant GOCE member was ready to spring into action to advise us. Thanks! In future we'll stay meteorologically neutral.
