Is it necessary that the references talk about the person rather than their work? Scientists, in particular, are known primarily for their work.

I received a message from you indicating this article would be deleted unless I contested this deletion. I did so providing information about why this entry met the notability requirements. I now see that not only has the article be deleted without any further notice, but my defense of that article has been deleted too.

(talk page watcher) @Theodulf: The "Speedy deletion" process does not guarantee any length of time for anyone to object to deletion, as it is for articles which fit clearly within a certain set of criteria as articles which appear not to be appropriate for the encyclopedia. If you click on the red link Bertho Driever you can see the name of the admin who deleted the article, after Rberchie had nominated it for deletion. You can go to that admin's talk page to discuss the deletion, which was under the criterion of WP:A7. It appears that the admin agreed with Rberchie that you did not include a credible assertion of the importance of the subject. (And please fix your signature: a signature must (see WP:SIGLINK) include a link to the user's user page or talk page, and because you are signing without such a link the "Sinebot" always adds an "unsigned" comment with the link.)
