Self Freedom

RaseaC - Good Day. You went in reverted an edit I made to my Discussion page. I cleaned up my own talk page for neatness and I believe that I have the right to do so. The information I edited was not removed, since it is still contained in the history section. So, please keep yourself from changing USER section if the valid user changed modified the page. Correction officer

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia. Thanks for your contribution. Your have reverted my edits 3 times now and thats not how we act here, if you disagree with the corrections someone has made you use this, their talk page.

Supervise (in this context) means overseeing a task: which is exactly what corrections officers do CO is simply an abbreviation of corrections officer and so including it in the list is repetition I'll leave your edits until you get back to me or I assume you've lost interest. They do the transport. they put the cuffs on the inmate,load him into a van and drive them from point a to point b that is not supervising that is doing. C.O and the other slang terms are vaild and are used everyday in prisons all over the world. I work In a prison, all day inmates are calling out "yo C.O" to us. most of them do not relize that C.O stands for correction officer. All the other slang terms that you have removed without asking any body are used in prisons all over the world. I work in a prison,I have talked to Correction officers from around the world so I do know a little about the subject, what makes you such an expert. I am not trying to offend you by changing you edit, you got rid of alot of useless info and made it a better article, but you give no reasons for your removal of some of the slang terms, I can give a vaild example of each and every slang term you deleted being used. you also removed the line about powers of arrest, that is a part of the job description and duties of a correction officer that you removed without any discussion

SRB president

I was told that he is now president from this forum post. I know it's not a "legal source" but it seems better than completely removing him from the infobox, especially when the article states that SRB will still have influence and is not completely leaving. NcSchu(Talk) 01:30, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

User talk page policy

Hi. I saw your note to Wiseoldowl on his talk page while doing recent changes patrol (it seems like you're also fighting the good fight!) and just wanted to point out that policy does not disallow a user to remove comments from his page, not even if they're warnings. This is a wide misconception. :) While some believe the policy should be changed to disallow blanking, it is not currently considered vandalism to do so. --Moonriddengirl 21:23, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm watching your talk page for a bit as well as mine. :) I tend to do that when I leave notes. No problem on the clarification. It was a murky policy in my mind for a while, too, particularly when I saw very experienced editors issuing vandalism warnings for the behavior! Anyway, the main reason I felt I needed to point the policy out to you, once I saw what was going on, was because of the edit summary you left on his page on August 27th. Blanking is considered bad policy. I understand the rationale--that sometimes users who've vandalized move on and have a right to a "clean slate"--but I do wish there was some sort of timeline. Sometimes on RC Patrol, it can be difficult to know how many warnings a user has had, especially when they've blanked their pages multiple times and subsequent RC editors haven't noticed and have started them over. Hi, I noticed that you've repeatedly reverted information about Maggie Simpson talking in The Simpsons Movie. Considering this is a cited event, her only dialogue in the film and evidently many editors want it included in the section do you not think it would be appropriate to leave it in? You're correct, the section is not meant to be an exhaustive list of every scene in which she talks but given what she says and when she says it, in my opinion (and obviously in the opinion of others too) this inforamtion should be included. The section in question is meant for "real world" information about the character - her design, who shes based on, voice actors, etc. Saying "In The Simpsons Movie, Maggie says Sequel" has NO real world context whatsoever, does not belong in the section and really does not belong in the article. You see, all that does is reiterate whats already in there and invites people to add other single episode stuff. It is good enough that we say that she's regularily voiced by Nancy and Yeardley. The section is fine the way it is, so just leave it. -- Scorpion0422 23:42, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
The section is not fine, it just includes a poorly written, uncited sentence. You seem to be making up your own 'policy' as you go along here with one rule for you and another for everyone else, there a four mentions of specific episodes and if these are included, why shouldn't the movie? The movie is not another episode and it is, in my opinion, noteworthy who voices Maggie in it. Including the information has no detrimental effect on the article and considering this is an encyclopedia I would argue that the more information the better. Might I suggest something along the lines of:

'Maggie's brief speaking part in the movie is voiced by Nancy Cartwright who, along with Yeardley Smith, regularly provides her squeaks and occasional speaking parts in the regular episodes' You get your info included I get mine Other editors get a mention of the movie Nothing gets repeated Everyone is happy, a compromise.RaseaC 23:58, 10 September 2007 (UTC) In the movie, she just said one word, like she has several times. The reason individual episodes are mentioned is because she was voiced by SOMEONE DIFFERENT. If we mention her normal voice parts, we'd have to mention every one and Wikipedia is not a collection of random information. See the d'oh section on the Homer Simpson page. His use of the word "doooooome" in the movie is not mentioned there because it is just a random one-off joke and has little to do with the character. -- Scorpion0422 00:05, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

You make a good point but the fact remains that the movie is not just another episode, it is a feature length film and as such some flexibility has to be adopted. I fail to see why the suggestion above isn't suitable, it adds less than 15 words to the article, includes information that is relevent and that others users want to see included and addresses a poorly written part of the section. It's clear from the page history that you spend a lot of time making worthwhile edits to the article but it's important that you allow others to do the same too. While this is ultimately a trivial matter, it does add highly relevent information to the section and instead of simply refusing other editors the chance to make constructive edits, why don't you also try to offer a compromise like I have above? I'm not suggesting that the movie is given undue weight, I'm suggesting it gets a mention. I'm aware of the guidelines for sources as you provided, but after reviewing the policy, I don't see any reason why IMDB cannot be used as a source, but this is irrelevent, when the information is included I can provide a different one for the sake of argument. You still appear to be refusing to adopt flexibility in the matter or partake in any worthwhile discussion, instead of deviating from the subject in hand, why don't you atleast make some kind of a move towards compromise? It's clear that past edits have, as you've already pointed out, placed too much emphasis on the movie, your's omits a mention, common sense suggests that somewhere in the middle there must be a sentence neither of us think is perfect but both will be able to live with? I have something for you to read too: WP:AGF. The section is just meant to be real world info about her voice. If we list every time she has ever spoken, it's listcruft. It doesn't really matter how many IPs think it's vital information. However, since you are so persistant, I'll open up a discussion about it. -- Scorpion0422 00:44, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

I suggested you read AGF (and WP:NPA too) because you have been describing be as a "dictator" which is a personal attack and does not assume good faith. A number of IPs also think we should add "The Simpsons is the greatest show ever" to The Simpsons and "Homer is gay" to Homer Simpson, so by your logic, we should let them. I have asked several users about it, and they all agree that it's not notable. We don't list every variation of the word "d'oh" on the Homer Simpson page because none of them have a lot to do with his character. If a portion of the plot of The Simpsons Movie was focused around Maggie saying sequel, then it would be worth mentioning, but otherwise it's just a one-off joke and we tend not to mention them in character or episode pages. It's not mentioned at The Simpsons Movie either. Check out Homer Simpson, Sideshow Bob, Ned Flanders, Waylon Smithers and Troy McClure (all of which are GAs) and you will notice that none of them mention such miniscule things. -- Scorpion0422 23:19, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
