Chasing Vermeer
I was wondering if you could help me with the article Chasing Vermeer; it probably needs to be rewritten. I don't know if you've read the book or not, but I think I'm going to rewrite the summary anyway. I just need help with other stuff. Thanks! --Glimmer721talk23:52, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Sure! It's a little late for me tonight, but I'll try to work on it some in the next week or so. I have not read the book, but I should still be okay for finding references and such. PrincessofLlyrroyal court04:06, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Thank you! I'ver written some of the summary here and I'll add more later after I look it over I was also thinking of making a section of "noted topics" (a little similar to this except better, I know there are a few sources of how some things came to be. It would probably include pentominoes, Vermeer, 12, coincidences, frogs...there are a few things that keep popping up and the author explains some of that in interviews I've read. Also, a character section may be of use. The author relates herself to Ms. Hussey. --Glimmer721talk02:30, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
Just to let you know your vote/edit was reverted because you accidentally removed all of the discussion on the talk page in trying to fix the support vote count tally. So you may want to re-visit the page. --Captain-tucker (talk) 19:20, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Hey PrincessofLyr. The Public Policy Initiative is looking to recruit Online Ambassadors to help mentor students who will be editing Wikipedia in the Spring. I thought of you because of your relative activeness and the generally good interaction I have had with you in the past as well as your experience with quality content development. I hope you are interested, I think we will soon be able to expand the ambassador program to many fields outside of Public policy including literature, so I hope you will help! Take a look at Wikipedia:Online Ambassadors and sign up and apply if you would like to help! Sadads (talk) 16:29, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the note. I had definitely looked at the program, but unfortunately I have no access to IRC or e-mail right now, which I think would make it difficult. I would be glad to be an on-wiki mentor/assistant for any of the students. PrincessofLlyrroyal court17:30, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
That should be fine methinks, go ahead and apply and make sure you not your limitations. Most of the mentoring has been on Wikipedia anyway, as far as I can tell (Thats interesting Wikipedia editing but no e-mail or the such. Might I ask why?)Sadads (talk) 17:36, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
I will do that. I don't mind you asking...right now it's mostly privacy concerns. In a few years that may change. On a totally random note, reviewing the work you did on Agnes Grey prompted me to read the book. I'm about halfway through and when I finish, it will round out my reading of all three sisters. Must say though, I think I like Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights better. PrincessofLlyrroyal court17:45, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
I'm glad you are interested in the ambassador program. And about Agnes Grey, maybe we should polish it up a little bit more an renominate it for GA, that last round was totally unproductive. I am going to be in Oxford in the Spring so maybe I can dig up some more obscure sources (though I feel like I exhausted what we have here at James Madison University), Sadads (talk) 19:51, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
I'll be glad to help any way I can. I'll look around at my local library, but I'm pretty sure we won't have any better sources than the ones you can find! Oxford sounds cool. Is it some kind of student exchange program, or you're just going there? PrincessofLlyrroyal court19:28, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Congratulations! Your application to join the Wikipedia Ambassador Program as an Online Ambassador has been accepted. We're gearing up now for the new term of classes that starts in January; we may have upwards of 500 students who will need mentors in the classes we're working with.
If you haven't already done so, take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines:Wikipedia:Online_Ambassadors/Guidelines
The "mentorship process" section lays out approximately what will be expected of you as a mentor. If you'd like, you can also volunteer to be the coordinating online ambassador for a class or two.
Please add yourself to the top of the list of available mentors, and note the number of students you think you'd like to mentor next term (it doesn't have to be a final answer, this is just to help with matching students and mentors once the students start getting active) and if you'd like to take on the coordination role for any classes note that as well: Wikipedia:Online_Ambassadors/Mentors
(Don't add yourself to the lower "Additional online ambassadors section; that's for ambassadors-in-training and ambassadors who are already mentoring all the the students they want to take on.)
To coordinate between Online Ambassadors and Campus Ambassadors, we've been using a Google Group as a mailing list. It's not required, but almost all the ambassadors are on it. I know you don't use email, but I just wanted to let you know that it exists. We're going to try to make sure any important information is on-wiki.
If you use IRC, please consider adding #wikipedia-en-ambassadors and #wikipedia-en-publicpolicy to your channel lineup.
Finally, please help us find more mentors! Because the number of students, and their involvement with mentors, is increasing so much for next semester, we're going to need a lot of solid Online Ambassadors by mid-January. Please take a few minutes to think of several other editors you know who would make good mentors, and invite them to apply the the Wikipedia Ambassador Program. The key things we look for are: regular activity (so that we can be confident they'll keep up with their mentoring role for the whole term), friendliness, and the ability to give detailed, substantive feedback on articles (both short new articles, and longer, more mature ones). You can point them to Wikipedia:Online Ambassadors for information on how to apply and what to expect.
Wow...that's makes me feel bad. Have you even read anything he's written? Yeah, it could probably go as B-class. It would need quite a bit of work before GA, but B-class is probably reasonable. PrincessofLlyrroyal court03:47, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
Quality wise, it looks B-class. It's just short, which is maybe why it doesn't look like some of the others. I just looked back over the B criteria, and I think it meets. I adjusted one of the references for consistency, but everything else looks good. nice to see I'm not the only working on WP on Christmas Eve! PrincessofLlyrroyal court16:13, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
Great! And yeah, I'm working, at least, this morning. Not tonight, because I've got people coming over though. I've just had my first accepted DYK nom. . And editing Percy Jackson's article has been quite fun. Oh! In case you haven't seen, John Carter has thown together a massive page of stuff about warriors at User:John Carter/Warriors. Anyways, Merry Christmas to you! Brambleclawx16:17, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
Oh weird, I pulled this up to add something and your reply appeared in my editing box! Yeah, I won't be on tonight either, but that's because I'm actually working tonight. Congrats on the DYK! That's a field I really need to get into sometime, but have just never bothered. Oh well. You've been doing terrific work with the PJ stuff. It just startles me every time you show up on my watchlist there because it's so different. I have seen John Carter's thing, but at the time I just clicked on it and didn't really have time to look through it. That should be an awesome asset for improving the pages. Anyways, the message I was going to add...can you explain Cluebot NG's "angry list"? Because somehow I've never heard of it and a cursory search didn't yield much. PrincessofLlyrroyal court16:21, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
As far as I can tell, Cluebot operates with 1RR, so it only reverts the same user/page combination once per 24hrs. (i.e. user:example vandalises "Ice cream", and cluebot reverts it; cluebot will not revert user:example on "ice cream" again for 24hr, unless ice cream is on the angry list). And in terms of DYK, I don't really write articles with DYK-nomming in mind. . Brambleclawx16:26, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
Okay, makes sense. I don't really see any reason why we shouldn't. The page doesn't seem to get vandalised too terribly often, but it would be useful if Cluebot took care of it instead of us. I don't write articles at all, so DYK isn't a concern. Maybe that should be my New Year's resolution...write articles! Oh, and Merry Christmas to you too! PrincessofLlyrroyal court16:34, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
Hi Princess of llyr
Happy holidays.

The December 2010 Wikification Backlog Elimination Drive Needs Your Help!
Please help!
The December 2010 Wikification Backlog Elimination Drive is almost complete. Please help, as the backlog has begun to climb back up. Already exceeding 20,000 articles! The backlog was down to 19,275, let's try to put it back down there by the end of the drive! We're going to need all the firepower we can get, so please remind your friends to help as well. Thanks for all your help thus far!
Okay, I don't have time to go through the entire entry right now, but I will look at it and leave some comments as soon as I can. I don't have any experience uploading pictures, but I'll ask around and find someone who can help you. PrincessofLlyrroyal court21:29, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
What does one do when they change their password, didn't write it down, and can't remember it? Oh, and doesn't have e-mail enabled and therefore can't get a new password. Any help would be greatly appreciated. IP removed. Courcelles08:20, 1 January 2011 (UTC) 14:39, 31 December 2010 (UTC) (PrincessofLlyr)
Sounds that what happened to Hereforhomework... as bcx said, just keep trying to remember; I don't think there's much you can do besides that right now... Derild4921Review Me!15:07, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
From what I can tell, you would probably have to make a new account. On the other hand, if you remember your Commited Identity Hash, I think there's a faint possibility that something can be done. Give me a couple seconds to look into that. Brambleclawx15:20, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Yep. I always kept think I should get one and never did. I thought I remembered the new password, but multiple variations of it still aren't working. Thanks for the help though. IP removed. Courcelles08:20, 1 January 2011 (UTC) 15:37, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Next question: Is it possible for accounts to be merged? Like if I have to create a new account, could the history from this one be transferred over? IP removed. Courcelles08:20, 1 January 2011 (UTC) 15:40, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm afraid I'll probably just have to create a new account. I'll give until tomorrow in case I miraculously remember... IP removed. Courcelles08:20, 1 January 2011 (UTC) 15:47, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Sometimes, what you need is a break, where you don't think so much about it. A lot of people have come across the solution to problems when they take a break from trying to solve it (like that guy who figured out the shape of benzene in a dream). Brambleclawx 15:51, 31 December 2010 (UTC) Add And don't forget to try your old password too. Brambleclawx15:55, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Uh oh. I pop my head back in this happens :). It looks like you will have to create a new account because I don't think there is a way around this :(unless you somehow reach a developer and convince them to change the password for you). I strongly urge you to enable the email function, and if you're not comfortable receiving emails from other users, just un-check the "Enable e-mail from other users" (I think this should work). A committed identity couldn't hurt, either (remember to write it down!) I guess. Well, Happy New Year! Airplaneman ✈23:59, 31 December 2010 (UTC) P.S. Yea, and try the old password and see what happens.
Already tried the old one. Doesn't work. How would I get in touch with a developer? IP removed. Courcelles08:20, 1 January 2011 (UTC) 00:15, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Guess what...I figured it out!!!!!!! Think I'll go work on making sure this never happens again. Airplaneman, is there any way you can oversight my IP? I'd rather not be able to have every vandal out there find it. Thanks for all the help guys! Happy New Year! PrincessofLlyrroyal court00:24, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Given the large number of edits to this page, you'd have to first modify all the signatures that you've done with said IP, then revdelete the contents every single revision of this page from the first IP post to the edit where you removed all the IP signatures, as well as the username attached to the logged out edits. sonia♫02:56, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Done. Feel free to replace my ugly hack in your posts with something else, it won't affect the RevDel or the Oversight that (should) be done later on. Happy new year. Courcelles08:28, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
This was a great thing to find when I logged onto Wikipedia. A great New Year's gift! The first thing I see on my watchlist is mass revdeletes on your page. Well, you should probably register an email adress, and under preferences, you can disable other people emailing you if you want. Brambleclawx19:10, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
No problem. Copyediting one's own work is hard. You're doing terrific work on the article. I'll try to provide some support, especially when you get it up for FA review. PrincessofLlyrroyal court23:08, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your help on formatting my quotes, I didn't know how to do it. I have been searching the net for legitimate book reviewers to find where somebody disagrees on the value of her work. I was wondering if you had suggestions on places where I could look. Tinytink (talk) 02:51, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

I asked Airplaneman when it mentions Luke got Achille's curse, and he thinks it might be book 5. I'm just asking to see if you know. And if I were user:ldelcasale, I'd probably be a bit impatient or confused, seeing as you said you'd look at his article, and haven't made any comments back to him in almost a week. Brambleclawx02:20, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi Princess Llyr thank you for getting back to me.Yes, it's my picture. I would like to put the picture like the other "bio" wiki entries to the right of the contents of the entry.
I feel I'm finally almost done and would like to have this ready for the public soon.
I thank You AGAIN!
˜˜˜˜Larry˜˜˜˜
(talk page stalker) HI Larry. Since this is a picture of your work, I believe it can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. To do so, you would go to Wikimedia Commons, log in using your Wikipedia username and password, then, go to the left hand side. On the sidebar, there should be a link for "Upload file". Read the stuff there. Follow the instructions. Use "Browse" to find the file in your computer. Next choose a descriptive file name for the "destination file name", so not "0001.jpg", but rather something like "Ice cream.jpg". Insert a date when the picture was taken, give a brief description of the photo, then go to "licensing". There are various licenses you can choose from. The first few let people use the picture, and modify it as long as it is credited to you, and they use the same licensing if they release a modified version; the next one allows people to use it and modify it, as long as you are credited. If they release a modified version, they do not need to use the same license as you. Finally, the last few release the picture into the public domain, where you basically make it public property, and reserve no ownership of it to yourself. Then, you may want to add categories to it to allow other people to better find the file, and then click upload file. If you have any questions at all about this, ask us before you upload the picture: you want to get this right the first time to avoid licensing issues. Brambleclawx00:22, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Hi Brambleclaw, I believe I did all this re: the picture already but I'll go through the process again. It seems so complicated to up load a picture into the entry?? I'll give it a shot now and let you know what happened. Thank You soo Much! ˜˜˜˜Larry˜˜˜˜ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.199.5.188 (talk) 16:43, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Hi Brambleclawx, I already uploaded the file to WikiCommons. It's a picture of the Artist. My licensing is under: "The Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Upload" now I'm going to try and put it into the entry.
Any Suggestions? ˜˜˜˜Larry˜˜˜˜ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ldelcasale (talk • contribs) 16:27, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Insert the picture onto the article by typing [[File:CBL Red Bricks 9x12 200 dpi.jpg|thumb|Caption here]]. If there's an infobox, just type File:CBL Red Bricks 9x12 200 dpi.jpg into the parameter for image. Brambleclawx20:39, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Hi Brambleclaw, Happy New Year, I've inserted the picture but would like to add some information to it. Other artists have their name at the top of the picture and then a brief bio description at the bottom; DOB, occupation, name, etc. How can I insert this as well as enlarge the photo? Thank You ˜˜˜˜Larry˜˜˜˜ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ldelcasale (talk • contribs) 20:52, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
I can't tell if the guy you're writing about is a classical musician, or not. If he isn't, you'd use {{Infobox musical artist}} (go there to see how to do it); i think classical musicians don't have inoboxes... Brambleclawx23:30, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Fixed. Larry, when you sign your posts on talk pages, we need a link to either your userpage or usertalk, and a time stamp. The easiest way to generate this is by typing four tildes (~~~~). Brambleclawx21:13, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Thank You sooooo much for setting up the info box! The article to my knowledge is now complete. The title of the article or entry is: Carlos Barbosa-Lima NOT LDelcasale/Carlos Barbosa-Lima. Can you adjust that? When can it go public?˜˜˜˜Larry˜˜˜˜

How soon are you looking at GAR? I just looked back through the history and the delist was apparently done by an editor with no consensus; I don't know what shape the article was in, but that kind of raises red flags. My only major comment: A reviewer (GA or FA) will probably object to the quality of the sources, particularly for the reception section. PrincessofLlyrroyal court04:03, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Thorough copyediting. Make sure refs are formatted properly. Plot summary could be cleaned up some. Thoroughly check prose for clarity. That's most of what I noticed. PrincessofLlyrroyal court16:50, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
A ref check I ran says that a ref named "and" has "multiple references contain the same content". However, I couldn't find any ref named "and". --Perseus, Sonof Zeus18:54, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

this sentence (in the plot section) seems to need different word choice: "He also commends the three receivers of his letter for their help."
and also this in themes: "Sondra Eklund, who writes a book review blog, noted that this left the reader with the impression to study Vermeer's paintings and art more closely."
Those are the only things right now. I did not have time to examine all of the references, so I'll try to read the whole thing again tomorrow and check those. PrincessofLlyrroyal court21:14, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
(talk page stalker)Excellent work :). I am currently copyediting the whole article, which may prompt me to actually read the book through (I picked it up and read to about page 20 before stopping in disinterest 4-5 years ago). Content-wise, I think this article is ready for a GA review. However, the prose could use a bit of work. Airplaneman ✈04:13, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
Question:
Take a look at set out to write "what she wanted to read." Does the closing quotation mark go before the period, (I was tempted to change it when I copyedited it) Or does it not matter? I have a faint recollection of a rule telling me that it can be done both ways, (was it Enlgish vs. American styles?) or is there only one way to do it? Airplaneman ✈04:17, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
OK; thanks. In the second paragraph, first sentence of the plotsum: are classmates at the University middle school - is "University" supposed to be capitalized? Airplaneman ✈04:30, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
Much appreciated, Airplaneman! The school is actually referred to as "the University School" in the book (p. 144). It never made it clear whether this was considered part of the middle school, so I'll change it ([1]). Glimmer721talk02:35, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
